SUMMARY: Saber and others have prepared for a festival for a certain holiday

Goldenrod City has always been a fairly busy place, so the bustling to prepare for a festival doesn't necessarily go unnoticed, but it's not so out of the ordinary that the NPC's will stop to question it. Just another day in paradise. With the clouds in the sky and the swarm of firey Pokemon to a minimum, the temperature has sunk to a respectable level for a celebration. Throughout the day the festival and the people involved start to spark to life, the activity levels increasing. There are two large piles of wood waiting to be lit up, as well as various other decorations. Most of the colors of the area are a variety of red, orange, and yellow with sparse amounts of blue tossed throughout. While most of the decorations are made out of wood as well, there's a few water Pokemon on duty to keep things from getting out of trouble.

As well as a couple of other guardians. It would be difficult to sabotage such an event, but those who are brave enough to try will be met with chivalric ferocity.

Beltane is advertise as a festival to celebrate many things in different cultures. Don't worry, there's a handful of individuals around who are all too eager to explain what it means back home for them. Walpurgisnight for some, a festival for fertility for others, Mayday even. The date is significant enough to have many different meanings, so naturally a celebration must occur.

This is a festival that will last from the afternoon of April 30th to the afternoon of May 1st. There is a section set aside for tents and camping should people feel they want to stay overnight. Feel free to set up your own threads or post under the ones already set up. The tournament is going to be 'Round Robin' style. Fights can be hand-waved and feel free to use a RNG to determine the winner if there are any conflicts. The beauty contest will also be determined by RNG once all the participants have joined in. More details about both of those threads can be found in the linked sections. There is also a ribbon pole to dance around, various games like torch throwing, and other miscellaneous activities like face painting.

[She lays out three more in her lap. The first is a kind of stylized F, the second looks like a Y (or perhaps a gallows), and the third looks like a bowed branch.]

Fehuz is abundance, success and energy. Algiz is the shield, to ward against evil. And the last one is Laguz, which is the ocean, for healing and renewal. I have more over in my pack, too.

A ward against evil seems to be becoming more and more valuable these days. Will you sell me that one?

Of course. [Kiki slides it off, dropping it in Carmen's lap. She makes no move to take back the one that Carmne's already holding.]

You can keep the Gebo one, consider it a freebie. I know for a fact that it works.

[She seems very confident in that assertion.]

[She's actually sort of touched by that, really. Both because of the small kindness and because gifts of any shape or size generally come few and far between when you're the world's greatest thief.]

Far be it from me to argue with an expert. And that's P200 I owe you.

[Which means that's P200 to Kiki, and that's P1800 that will be going into Kiki's pack or pocket when she's not looking. P200, P2000, what's a power of ten between friends?]

[Kiki giggles good-naturedly.]

I don't need to be an expert. I said we might meet in person so you could check out your first impression, right? And then I made that charm, and here you are.

[Wink. As for the money, she won't stare a gift horse in the mouth, but she will wonder...]

And that's proof firsthand that it worked?

[For most other people, Carmen would pick apart that rationale in an instant. Fortunately, most other people aren't Kiki, and it's obvious this is all in good fun anyway.]

It seems as though my first impression was right.

[Bah, if she felt like picking it apart, Kiki would let her. It is said mostly in jest; if she can't fly, it stands to reason that her charms would only be half as effective, held up by little more than their natural properties. Given in turn that this world's plants are different, she can't be sure of that, either. Still, she's been telling people they're not wholly magical, so she can't fret about swindling people by accident--and besides, the strongest magic has always been belief.]

It's proof enough for me. Believe hard enough in something, and it tends to manifest, right?

[Is that the fire, or are her cheeks happily flushed from praise? A mystery for the ages, no doubt.]

Believing is only the first half of the process. The second half is taking action to make it happen.

She offers Kiki a faint but knowing smile.]

Of course, I wouldn't be here if you hadn't told me about this festival in the first place, so there's action for you, too.

Exactly. The universe isn't going to help you if you just sit around and expect good things to happen.

But if you really push for it...things eventually line up. Or at least, that's what I've been taught. [And so far, it's served her well.]

That's a philosophy I can agree with.
