Spring Cleaning: the log!
Who: Everyone!
Where: The six urban centers: Goldenrod, Olivine, Ecruteak, Violet, Saffron and Celadon, as well as outlying routes.
When: May 5-8
Summary: It's the Toxicalypse, and the Rockets are out to make a racket! Hide yo kids, hide yo wives, they lootin' errybody out here. The pokemon are between levels 5-95 as required, and include Grimer, Trubbish, Muk and Garbodor. NPC Rockets will probably be packing Skuntank and Weezing for lulz and grossness.
Rating: PG-13 for violence, swearing, the usual.
Log:
At 7:30AM on May 5th...
It can't be heard. It's one of those sounds, far out of range of human hearing; some pokemon might pick it up, if they have sensitive ears, but even to them it probably registers as little more than an unpleasant buzz. In fact, it doesn't even interrupt regular broadcasting; if you're on a route, the likelihood of noticing any sort of danger is slim. The effect in the urban areas, however, is instantaneous.
Letters have been flying to Gym leaders and mayors and other important people about the poor trash collecting job of the last few days; it seems the streets of Johto and Kanto have never seen this much garbage. The heat is stifling, oppressive, the rain of just yesterday pushing down the smog and the smell, trapping it low against the sizzling concrete. For the ecologically-conscious citizens of this world, who sort their trash into six neat piles, a harmful act against the environment like this is unthinkable, horrendous; it never occurs to them that it could be intentional, because honestly, what kind of monster would treat the habitat of pokémon so lightly?
Team Rocket, it seems, picks up quickly on new and different ways of thinking.
The devices whirr to life, beep and flash and pop open very lightly like waking insects. From them, a special radio wave is emitted; around them, the vast swaths of trash begin to move, and warp and dissolve into sludge and organs and joints. One Muk is two Muks, two is suddenly four, and then there is nothing but panic and rushing and the smell, the horrendous toxic smell.
Someone screams, and after that, chaos.
[[ooc notes: each sub-thread involves not only the individual locations, but also directly connected routes. For example, if you're on Route 34, feel free to use the Goldenrod thread.]]

VIOLET
But. This morning.
She only made it a couple steps outside the Center before - whatever it was that was happening - had her jolting back inside and rushing to call back every member of her team. In seconds all were tucked away.
All but her Hoppip, blowing out of her reach and coming right back out again, making scared noises as she refused to be tucked away alone. Eventually, she had to reach out and just hold Chloe in her arms, else chance getting them both in harm's way by staying there. Both were choking on the stench, so she has to run.
It's foolish, but if anyone see's the woman running out of the Center in search of an escape out of Violet, trying to dodge the oncoming Muk traffic? Know she thought this was the only option.]

As soon as Ken'd realized what was happening he'd headed out himself; the Pokémon Academy had had more than enough trouble recently, so he'd been prepared to defend it if need be.
Yet when he sees someone he recognizes from the feed, his priorities quickly change.]
Hey!
[That call is both to attract her attention and those Muks' - in charges his Houndoom, while Ken rushes over as quickly as he can, carrying Pupitar.
His only super-effective Pokémon would have limited mobility during a disaster.]
no subject
[Anissa near-trips in a circle to see who's talking to her, only to stall as she sees and places the boy running towards her.
-hold on tight, Chloe! Anissa is moving even more as she teeters on what Ken is up to!]
B-be careful!
[There's so many of them, no matter how strong, how can they be fought??]
no subject
[He puts himself between her and the Muk as a human shield, while Pupitar hops out of his arms to assault the invaders.]
You should head for a shelter - the center, or a store. Someplace that can close them out.
[His tone isn't harsh, per se, but he's definitely not the soft-spoken, self-effacing kid she'd spoken to before. Disaster is afoot, and he can't just let it happen.]
no subject
[And she takes her eyes off the boy - where did he come from and will he be alright fighting these for her - to look down concerned at Chloe.
Her Hoppip is practically wilting in front of her.]
Some of my Pokémon, this is making them sick! I need a safe place to help them.
no subject
Return them all to their PokéBalls.
[He lets Houndoom and Pupitar do their thing - they're valiantly trying to keep both humans from getting swarmed by Muk - to toss a couple more PokéBalls in the air.
Out come Beedrill and Butterfree.]
Bug-type Pokémon can't defeat these opponents. But they can carry your Pokémon into the trees. The smell might not have spread that far.
no subject
[Except for the Hoppip acting like a spazzy feline in her arms. And there's no really time to protest, so she's pulling out all of her PokéBalls from her bag as fast as she can, one handed.]
Then- how can I help? If these are Poison-types, Grass ones would struggle, too. I- have a couple half-Poisons-
[And Craig is too young to help, but, perhaps if she holds onto Budew-]
no subject
[He splits the PokéBalls between the two bugs, Beedrill being careful to cradle his share between his stingers.]
Unless this is a natural phenomenon, then there has to be a cause. And even if this occurs naturally, what might ...
Houndoom, left!
[Sorry to break off like that. He's got a dog surrounded by sludge. As you do.]
no subject
[The girl's distracted seeing her team off, and trying to call out one of the remaining two as she argues with the Hoppip.]
Chloe please, you need to go! You'll get hurt put here!
[And so will they, if they don't get out of this! She'll be looking around for any escape routes during the PokéJuggle.]
no subject
[He's thinking hard, glancing about....didn't want to have to do this, but...]
Pupitar, Rock Slide!
[Rocks fall, trash gets squashed, there's a temporary path back to shelter.]
This way. We're still better off coordinating with others.
....though I'm sorry to ask you to part with your Pokémon. If you'd rather try for the route, I'll see you off.
no subject
I'm just worried, about my team breathing this...
[She'll be making a break for the path, but, her eyes do catch on something higher up-]
Does... do you think, the tower has lower floors?
no subject
It doesn't take Ken any time to make his decision.]
Let's find out. My Pokémon will follow with yours, if it's safe.
[And with that he's already running.]
guess who checked the map
[She had to yell that, since she's running as fast as she can... with her two remaining in her hands, the now out Budew looking much healthier than the Hoppip, but no less scared.
The trouble is the tower is more than a small walk away, and it'll be lucky to make it as far as the Academy without a problem.
Which is barely done. And then Anissa's stumbling to avoid a trio of Trubbish in the way, and stumbling out an "attack" of sorts.]
Ruth, stun spore!!
[They don't have to actually fight them, right??]
a wiser mun than i
Oh, that was smart thinking. He spares a breath for a smile, then nods to Houndoom.
You have a canine escort, milady, to aid your escape.]
I think 'obsessive' might be more apt. <:
It's- just up that walk, isn't it? ...it's still... Do you think, they can cross water?
[Because she's not for it, but if they can't make the rest of the trek untouched, and the teams are dwindled down, jumping in that water stretching along her right is looking wise...]
no subject
[Ken heads for the water without a second thought, holding Pupitar in front of himself like a shield against the Poison-types.]
He's weak to water. You go first!
no subject
[She's not sure running right up to her waist - coooooold - exactly helps her little duo, but they aren't complaining. Her Hoppip is apparently a bit buoyant, too!
But, with Ruth up on her shoulder-]
Come on! Let's test it before we go too deep! We don't want to be slowed down if they follow...
