1st ✿.//. Another incredible journey
Who: Tohru Honda and Kyo Sohma
Where: Somewhere along Route 29
When: Incredibly backdated by about three weeks
Summary: Tohru and Kyo set out on their journey together, and Tohru is the one showing Kyo the ropes for a change! ... Also we're probably going to be discussing FEELINGS and canon differences.
Rating: PG-13 (Kyo curses a lot)
Log: It was hard to believe that they'd both come back to Johto again, but from such drastically different points in time. How else could she explain the fact that he'd thought he'd mistaken her for someone else? It must be because she was taller, and older looking.
They'd agreed to travel together, of course, that was kind of a given after meeting in New Bark Town and straightening out identities. One thing became abundantly clear as they went, though. Tohru, despite having come and gone twice, maybe because the trips home were so short, had definitely not forgotten how to get by in this world. She'd already caught a Sentret. Half a day in and already they'd been attacked a few times. In some cases Tohru insisted on stopping to patch up the Pokemon before they went, but mostly it was smooth going.
After the most recent catch, a Pidgey, Tohru took a moment to congratulate her Pokemon again. Already Umeboshi was nearly to level twelve, having gained two since they started.
"Great job, Umeboshi! We'll be sure to let them rest at the Pokemon Center when we get to Cherrygrove."

Of course he was going to travel with her despite these differences, Tohru was Tohru and as long as it was just them here he had to watch out for her. Even if it seemed to be the other way around, right now.
She'd told him that she had already been here before and it would make sense that she would have picked up on a few things, being here that long but it was weird seeing her so level headed about these battles.
Tohru Honda never ceased to be surprising, that was for sure.
Once he'd calmed down enough to respond to the situation with something other than screaming, Kyo spoke up. After a few attacks, it was almost as if he was getting used to them.
It was during one of the rest stops to assure everyone was all right before they moved again. "So these battle things happen all the time, huh? It's normal for them to just come out and attack us like that?"

The idea of waiting for him to make it from Violet City all the way to Olivine... was a little too much separation from everyone. They'd ended up meeting halfway in Goldenrod.
So yeah, she brought some experience back with her along with a determination not to be a burden. So when Kyo asked,Tohru looked back over her shoulder with a bright smile as if discussing pleasant weather.
"Uh huh! That's right, they show up all the time when we're on the roads between cities. That's why we're given a Pokemon when we wake up in New Bark Town, to help us make it through the wild parts and routes!"

And leave it to her to be so damn pleasant about it. Like everything Tohru did, leave it to her to be the one to accept all this and roll with it, and learn what she needed to in that time to be on top of things this time.
"And they get stronger, the more they fight..." Wheels clearly turning as Kyo looked at his skitty, as if wondering what it could possibly do with more experience. "They could have given us something a little more dangerous. Something that would really tear those other guys apart!" This is the kid that suggested rice ball battling to the death for a school event.
He might be getting a little enthusiastic about all this, now.

Umm....
He seemed to be getting really fired up about this...
"Y-Yes! That's right! Pokemon's strength is measured in levels. The more they battle the higher their level, and the better their stats become. It's kind of like the Mogeta video games..."
Oh dear. Umeboshi would have raised an eyebrow just then if she had the capacity for it. As it was she simply began edging a little closer to Tohru without tearing her eyes off of Kyo. Tohru wasn't in the least alarmed.

"Then we should get fighting, shouldn't we?" Sure, Tohru's pokemon might be a little beaten up from the fights she'd been through already today but Kyo had held back. The little cat barely seemed worth doing anything with, or capable of much - but if he could become stronger, take down other pokemon and even get him a better team, Kyo was definitely for that!
"What other types are around here? Let's find some."

"Who cares how strong they are? We can beat any rat that comes our way!" Clearly. This is a personal issue. "It'll make her stronger for the next ones, right? We're doing this!"
Just. Need to find an unsuspecting rattata to unleash her on, first.

"Ah, Kyo-kun? Maybe... maybe you should take it slow? Not all Pokemon like to battle very much... I think she's a bit nervous."
no subject
"She will get used to it, right?" He's not quite ready to let go of his hopes and dreams of pummeling rats to the ground. "It's only her first time so it makes sense that she's nervous now, but when she's stronger she'll be able to flatten 'em!"
Right? Tohru, help him out here.

"That's right! Practice makes perfect! I wasn't very good when I first started, but Kyo-kun is an amazing teacher! He taught me, after all, and I'm probably the most hopeless person you'll ever meet when it comes to this kind of thing!" She laughed a little at her own expense, because she knew fighting wasn't her strong suit and that was okay. She smiled brightly at the Pokemon, though, hoping to boost her confidence. "He'll take good care of you, we all will. And if you need help Umeboshi will help out, too! Right?"
