open to meetups anywhere between the 5th and the 22nd!
Also, the tournament (that he hadn't been allowed to advance in) had been rather expensive to enter due to the class he'd been assigned, and he was fairly consistently low on funds anyway...
Well. He had an idea of how to make money, but the thought of selling artwork he produced was aggravating his already severe headache. However, at this point, it was unavoidable for someone like him-it was more dignified than menial labor, and he wasn't simply about to offer clutches of eggs to the network without ensuring that they were high quality.
So, throughout the next week or so, he could be seen throughout Vermillion either eying up particularly scenic locations for inspiration or actually sitting down somewhere and drawing up a preliminary sketch-of one of his Pokemon, of course. That seemed to be a fairly popular subject, even if he was loath to pander like that.
Well, hey. He's actually pretty good. Maybe he'd be open to commissions? He is reasonably good at keeping up a facade of basic politeness... at least, he's better at it the further away from the fifth it is.]

Mmm? [ She spots a familiar face down the way of her walk, and she blinks at what she is seeing. Moving closer, she recognizes who it is and stops only a few feet away from him. ]
What a sight this is. Relaxing your nerves by exercising your artistic craft, magus?

who looked kind of like a palletswap of him, come to think of it, so it hadn't messed up his drawing of his smug-ass Serperior or anything and therefore he could be pleasant.Meeting her in person was a bit strange, though. She was much shorter than he'd been expecting, but he had enough tact (and self-preservation) not to mention this.]
Ah, yes, I am. I can't allow myself to get out of practice, after all.
no subject
[ Because she clearly knows what she's talking about. Yup. ]
no subject
That is quite the honor, coming from someone like you. Do you engage in this kind of art as well? You have more of a reputation as a musician than anything else, but...
[...well. Roman historians.]

...Whaddya know, you've actually got some talent.
no subject
...and oh it's a... servant... god, he doesn't even know how to deal with these here aside from maybe one]
It's been a hobby of mine for several years, so it stands to reason that I'd be good at it.
no subject
Practice doesn't really go hand in hand with expertise. I've killed people that trained in combat their whole lives without breakin' a swear myself.
[lancer you little shit]
no subject
I never said that natural talent didn't play into things, did I? If you have very little of that, no amount of training is going to save you when you're up against someone immensely talented.
no subject
Answer: really excited.]
Heeeey, I didn't know there were more artists around. What an awesome coincidence!
[Don't mind him Kayneth, he's just going to sit near you with his armful of sketchbooks and pencils. And he's going to bug you too.]
This place really is perfect for inspiration, huh?
no subject
...the fact that his Sigilyph saw this person coming prevented it from being too distracting, but he still can't help but be somewhat annoyed...]
Given that it's a fairly large city, it can't be called a coincidence that more than one artist would be here. If this place is as inspiring as you say it is, then it stands to reason that you'd find someone else using this place for that very purpose.
no subject
Hah, that's true. I just haven't seen any around in a long time, as weird as that sounds.
[He smiles in Kayneth's direction, completely oblivious that he might be annoying this man.]
Yep, you're the first I've seen in a while. I guess I just got a little over-excited.
no subject
[...oblivious people...]
Honestly, I find that a bit difficult to believe. You'd think some of the natives would partake in art, as strange as they are.

[ Because unlike everyone else who's happened upon Kayneth, Saber has a hard time coming to terms with the fact that someone like him could make something so beautiful. ]
no subject
fuck. It was a Servant-one from his war, after closer inspection; it was pretty easy to assume she was Nero at first glance, but well... they had some rather obvious differences.
And while he felt he could deal with Nero on some level, this one was... well. She was his enemy in their world, for one, and while that hadn't prevented him from allying himself with Tokiomi he suspected he'd had several run-ins with her in the past Add that to the fact that he barely knew how to handle Servants in this particular location anyway...]
...I'm sketching, of course.
[...sketching his Petilil, to be precise, so there is a cute as fuck Pokemon in the general vicinity.]
no subject
Sketching. [ Saber repeats the word and takes a look once more. Was that a rare gasp of delightful surprise? ] That Pokemon is...
[
I have never seen a Pokemon of that nature before. [ Good save, Saber. ]
no subject
...also, you know...
...he totally must have imagined that, given that for this girl to be King Arthur she's got to be a complete hardass, but
if he didn't, it's a shame that he's going to remember jack shit upon returning, because that
seems like an exploitable weakness...]
You haven't? Well, they don't seem particularly common in Johto. I believe I caught this one during a swarm several months ago. However, I've seen some wild ones while training in this area-they seem to be somewhat common on Route 6, if nothing else.

He finds himself watching Kayneth sketching from a distance, finally approaching after he realizes that Kayneth is drawing one of his Pokémon.]
You're quite good.
[Hopefully you don't mind the interruption! It is still pretty early on in the tournament, after all... Sorry about that, Kayneth.]
no subject
Nevertheless, it's not an interruption he takes huge issue with; the Nidorina's practically a still life, so...]
It's just a sketch, really. I've barely even started on it.
[...that may be a bit of a prickly answer, but it's more that he just doesn't do compliments most of the time, man...]
no subject
I imagine the final work will be quite impressive, then. Is this just a hobby of yours or are you a professional?
no subject
[The corners of his mouth lift slightly into a confident smirk.]
But really, I don't see why I should approach it with less dedication than I would if I were a professional. There's no point in letting this suffer simply because it's not my main focus.

She's a very polite watcher, at least. She stays far enough to be felt without making her presence too invasive, and she's also very quiet, carefully not making any noise or sudden gestures that might distract him or his current inspiration. If anything, she's studying his technique.]
no subject
...well, it's not like the Clefairy is intentionally trying to bother him, so he'll just... quietly try and signal for her to get back into pose...]
no subject
Cecil himself is currently too far away to tell her off, but not too far away to see what she's doing, if that very distant facepalm is any indication.]
no subject
...well, Kayneth just sighs, sets his pencil down, and rubs his temple. This isn't the first time today something like this has happened... well, at least you tried, Rosie. Gold star.]
