a deal's a deal

Who: Tsubasa Hanekawa ([personal profile] stressed) and Xemnas ([personal profile] firstnothing)
Where: Violet City
When: September 7th
Summary: The delivery of a Growlithe
Rating: G-PG
Log:

[ Yesterday was another day of sorting paperwork and collecting data, though it wasn't a boring day by far. With each passing hour, Tsubasa was beginning to learn more about the Pokemon world and how it functions. Being so close to the trainer school, as well, gave her the opportunity to learn more about battling, training, and the culture of this world. Pokemon battles were an important element, and although Tsubasa was only a breeder - it was important she learned these things. Being thrust into a place where she knew nothing made her extremely self conscious, and so she did her best to absorb all the knowledge she could. She wouldn't know everything, but knowing what she could would be enough.

Today however Tsubasa was just wandering around Violet City - her Glameow was in her arms and the rest of her Pokemon were in their respective balls. It was one habit she couldn't break, her wanderlust, and it followed her even here. After what felt like a long period of walking, she stopped in her tracks. Looking over her shoulder she checked to see what was in that direction, cause by the sound of it, someone was coming.

Lucky her! ]

[Xemnas has figured out this travel between towns thing fairly rapidly. Malice could teleport, but would only take them to the nearest pokemon center. Regret could run swiftly for a long time, but the days' journeys between towns was exhausting even for her.

So teleporting half-way made it much easier on everyone involved. Which means he'd arrived in Violet City a little while ago, and had time for a brief side-conversation with one of his old minions before setting out to find Tsubasa, accompanied by the zebstrika and exuberant growlithe.

The growlithe doesn't understand why they're here, only that it's a new place, and happily darts from location to location to sniff new smells.

It's the sound of hoofbeats and the faint jingle of collar-charms that mark his approach, once Tsubasa is located. He collars his pokemon - but noticeably the growlithe lacks such a collar.[

[It's true, he's pretty damn tall overall. And he didn't usually bother with pokeballs if he didn't have to. As Tsubasa is located, she's scrutinized by his team and not Xemnas himself, the measured gaze of a Kadabra possibly uncomfortable if one's aware they're psychis. Regret's merely curious, and ... and there's a floating gasball with a face that keeps phasing in and out of tangibility, what it's doing is a bit of a mystery.

The growlithe did not count as 'his' as far as he's concerned.]

Miss Tsubasa. Yes, that is the growlithe I mentioned. Fairly high energy but obedient enough. Were it not quite so excitable..

[Maybe he'd keep it if it wasn't.

There is something of a fairly stern presence to him in spite of his typically pleasant tone, but some people were like that. It didn't seem to bother his pokemon any. As soon as Tsubasa makes the dubious mistake of getting down at the growlithe's level, she's immediately homed in on. Anyone in licking range deserved what they got! The feline glameow is completely disregarded in favor of happily bouncing over to Tsubasa and doing its best to climb right onto her and lick anything in range, tail a happy plume.]

I believe it is a female. As you can see, it is quite happy to be friends with ... just about anyone or anything, I'm not sure it even realizes there might be hostile things in the world. The woman at the pokemon center- [Probably Nurse Joy] -said it was a very affectionate creature. Does it suit you, or offend you? You may not even have to battle it to capture it.

[Yep, that's a very affectionate growlithe. Friendly sort, that's absolutely certain. It's the sort of creature a person with a family might want as a pet, but Tsubasa might not qualify. The mention of capture perks small fuzzy ears, the growlithe swiveling around to give Xemnas a puzzled look.

Pokemon are intelligent. But he hadn't told it why they were in Violet City.]

It's highly unlikely the growlithe is offended at being called the wrong gender. I certainly am not.

[Especially since every single one, even the mammals, kept all their 'obvious' gender bits neatly tucked inside and out of sight, making telling them apart at a glance sometimes a bit of a chore. Some pokemon did have visible differences but those were usually things like mane lengths or mild color variations.

Xemnas hadn't bothered to memorize any of it.]

If your feline is so unfond, perhaps it is the glameow that will need more discipline. A good team is not based on one being tolerant of another's ill temper, but the ill temper being dealt with directly. As they are not 'cats and dogs', one should not encourage or allow them to act like the false stereotype of 'cats and dogs'.

[It's an almost-gentle warning. They might look like pets, but they're absolutely no such thing, and it was better to not let the mindset settle in, or bad things could result. Especially for a breeder.

After all, glameows and growlithes shared an egg group.]

Do you plan on a battle to establish control and your own place as its trainer?

You're still adjusting to being here, mm?

[And perhaps not having an easy time of it, either. Xemnas had encountered a person who claimed this entire world was a game not so long ago, if she saw it similarly adjusting would be even more difficult.]

Be advised against assuming level is the qualifier for what wins all the time, miss Tsubasa. My Regret recently defeated a pokemon over twenty levels stronger than her.

[The zebstrika is given a light pat on the neck; it's when she evolved actually. He was still pleased with her tenacity. Still, the growlithe isn't going to have the advantage of Xemnas and tactics to help it, which was primarily the reason a very young blitzle had beaten a level 45. As the aerodactyl appears, Xemnas studies it. Larger than most.. that's always useful.

He still needed to find one large enough to possibly carry him without worry that he might break its back.

As Tsubasa and her aerodactyl prepare for battle, the growlithe looks a little bewildered, glancing back at Xemnas, who shrugs.]

You're still wild, pup. You're fair game. This is your fight, not mine.

[His reminder isn't exactly mean, said almost gently. He'd never caught the growlithe, he didn't consider it part of his team. The growlithe has to actually consider this now too, and that Tsubasa means to do her own catching. It turns, sharp teeth bared, focusing on the aerodactyl. It's a bad type-match and Xemnas knows it. Fire doesn't fare so well against rock.]

I'll get out of the line of fire, so to speak.

[With that, Xemnas herds his own pokemon off to the side - the ones he claimed his and would tenaciously keep. The growlithe would have to fight on its own.]
