NIGHTMARE PLOT: BATTLE LOG

Who: Nightmare Plot participants!
Where: THE BASEMENT (dun dun dunnnnn)
When: Wednesday, October 30
Summary: IT'S NOT CHERNOBOG. But you still have to fight it.
Rating: PG-13 in general; please mark threads that go higher accordingly!
Log:

YOU ARE HERE. IT LOOKS LIKE THIS. YOU'RE FIGHTING THIS. (IT'S NOT CHERNOBOG.)

ALSO, MOOD MUSIC.

KEY:
RED areas are inaccessible regions! This time, characters have a little less discretion in what they perceive as the reason for the inaccessibility; it'll either be something like a broken or crumbling wall, a locked door, an archway overgrown with dangerous-looking vines, thick fog, or something else of that nature!

• The GREEN area is the set of stairs you used to get down here in the first place! Again, this is here so you know where your starting point is in relation to everything else.

~

☆ THE NUMBER TO MEET OR BEAT IS 55 PARTICIPANTS.

REMEMBER: IF YOUR CHARACTER DOES NOT POST TO THE BOSSFIGHT LOG AT LEAST ONCE
(AS A TOP-LEVEL COMMENT OR IN RESPONSE TO SOMEONE ELSE'S TOP-LEVEL COMMENT)
BEFORE 7:00 AM EST on OCTOBER 31, THEY WILL NOT COUNT TOWARD THE 55-PARTICIPANT GOAL!

[Hope gets no new equipment the moment he steps into the basement-- nothing new in fact, so he's pretty much no use when he sees all these people fighting, launching themselves at the large creature in the area. So what can he do but continue relying on his Pokémon?

But he cant, because the Espeon on his shoulder is shaking, sending waves of distress and pleas not to send him (them, including the other two Pokémon he has) out into battle into his mind, and well. That's not a good sign, considering Hope's one of the more calm Pokémon on his roster. Something about this creature has got all of them spooked, and honestly, Hope doesn't blame his Pokémon for not wanting to face up to it.

Hope though, he has to. He cant just sit somewhere and watch. He's not that type of person.

He needs to do something, but ever since he lost his l'Cie powers, he's been relying on nothing but his brain. He can attempt to analyze it, yes, but he should be able to do more. And he honestly wishes he had his magic back, because brains alone cant do anything, especially not here.

Hope ducks and flattens himself and Hope-the-Espeon against a wall when the creature's tail (is it a tail? he cant tell) attempts to take his head off, and he's seriously thinking of taking himself out of the place because he'd just be a nuisance when he spots Riku.

He's not the swearing type, but he does mutter a 'damn!' when he sees Riku running towards the thing with a... is that a Keyblade? He knows the general look of one thanks to Ventus, but he's never actually seen one before-- though he has to put those thoughts aside because science later. He should probably, really help the boy right now, or else there might not be much of him left.

Drag him out? Get the monster's attention? How though? He just really, really wishes for his magic back, even if it's just his old support magic. Healing magic. Anything.

Though he immediately feels a change, concentrated in his left arm. And he knows that feeling even if it's been over a decade.

At first, Hope panics, because he thinks his brand is there again, but when he drags his sleeve up, there's no change to his left arm whatsoever and that? That is a huge relief, and he can concentrate on reacquainting himself with his magic.

The very first spell he casts on Riku is a Bravery spell, followed quickly by a Protect and a Shell.]

[When Riku hit the ground running, he hardly expected assistance. After all, with all the monsters flooding the arena, isn't it hard enough staying in one piece? It's for that reason that, when Hope's spells kick in, he briefly falters, looking back over his shoulder. It's hard to overlook the flash of the magic and equally as challenging to ignore the burst of strength from the Bravery spell.

If that's all Hope's doing, dang, he's gonna have to thank him. Briefly, he considers shouting out to him...

Then he feels fangs piercing his side, and that thought drifts away. But while it stings, the pain feels muted, almost like a nip. Though he still winces, Riku musters up the strength to a) smack his knuckles into the monster's snout and b) slice clear across its belly.

Kind of a close call, but why complain? As more minions descend, Riku pulls his weapon back, squeezes its hilt tight, and spins, cutting a path through the crowd. That oughta give him some space.

Rather than wait for more reinforcements, he jerks forward, bolting back towards Hope.]

Hey, were you the one who did all this?

[It's said with a sheepish smile. After all, if he hadn't stepped in, Riku could've been shredded to pieces.]

[He shrugs a little as he flexes his left arm and moves it this way and that. He still feels the magic in his body, and that's a strange feeling after not having had it for years.]

It was the least I could do, considering you were the one fighting up close.

[Speaking of, he'd seen the monsters come very close to shredding the boy, and he immediately becomes concerned. He raises his hand for a Cure spell, gathering the green magic around it.]

Are you hurt anywhere?
islandshore: (o rly?)

apologies for the lateness. Schoolwork started getting intense just after Halloween

Just a little bit on the side.

[He shrugs, blowing it off as a nibble rather than anything severe. Deep down, he's fully aware that it could've been a lot worse. It's dangerous here, but stressing over what could happen won't get them anywhere in this fight. Still, his shirt's been slightly shredded from the monsters' teeth, along with some open skin. Thankfully, the Cure spell helps to close the wounds.]

I figure it's nothing worse than what Quake or Terror could do to me. Besides, what's a few scrapes compared to that thing?

[He points his thumb over his shoulder and at the boss monster itself.]

it's no problem!

[Hope raises an eyebrow at the bravado, but just manages to not roll his eyes. Teenagers.]

The thing about being a medic... I cant afford to be mistaken with the potency of my Cure spells. If someone tells me that it's "not a big deal" even if it actually is, and I believe them, then the wound wont close, not completely, and there's no telling what will happen next.

Especially facing "that thing".

[Gestures with his hand at the dark, seething mass that barely manages to hold together a form.]

So tell me like it is.
