Who: Kayneth El-Melloi & Nurse Joy.
Where: A museum date in Ecruteak City.
When: Saturday, March 8th.
Summary: Kayneth uses his prize NPC date to test whether or not Nurse Joy is part of a clone army.
Rating: Presumably not that high, G?
Log:
[ Setting up the outing would have been as simple as calling the paper as directed by Blake. After giving the name of the "local celebrity" who had signed on, they would have been contacted with the details of the meet-up, and would then go to...well, meet up. Granted, in the case of the Nurse Joys it had been rather nebulous which was going to attend the meeting. The Nurse Joy in Olivine had been the one to sign up, but given that Kayneth El-Melloi was in Ecruteak, her younger sister was subbing in for her.
It was pretty unlikely anyone was going to notice the difference.
And anyway, Joy liked museums (or this particular Nurse Joy did), so heck yes she was going to go on an outing to a museum paid for by the paper. It had been a while since she had an evening off, anyway. And here is the first new piece of information about Joys for you, Kayneth: they can wear things other than their uniforms, although Joy's dress is still admittedly rather pink and her hair is done up in the style of Joys everywhere. You don't mess with a winning formula too much.
She's been given a general description of who to look for, so when she spots Kayneth she'll wave, smiling. ]
Mr. El-Melloi? I'm Joy.
[ Off-duty, WHAT UP. ]

Mr. El-Melloi? I'm Joy.
[ Off-duty, WHAT UP. ]

...it had been a long time since it had, so he wasn't about to waste this opportunity on someone who wasn't one of the unsolved mysteries of this world. This is being done under the pretense of a date, so of course he'll be dressed to the nines.
He's not surprised that Nurse Joy is easily recognized, though he is a bit surprised that she's wearing something different. Maybe they aren't all clones/homunculi/constructs after all?
Well, only one way to find out...!]
Ah, good to see you, Ms. Joy. I hope you've had a pleasant day so far?
no subject
So far as he knows, probably. Only family or Brock would likely recognize the minute differences. For example, this particular Joy's smile quirks up just the slightest bit to the left compared to some of the others. It's too small to see without scrutinizing. ]
Yes, quite. I just got off of work a little while ago; this outing meant I got to take a half-day.
[ Which, okay, she isn't overworked or anything - at least, her hours are reasonable, it's just that she tends to sort of hang out at the Center even after they're done. ]
I hope you have, as well?
no subject
how difficult]
Well, I would imagine it's a long day, under most circumstances. ...Or does it go by quickly? I hope you don't mind me asking, at the very least.
[That was a good start, at least!]
And, yes, I have. It's been productive, at the very least.
no subject
Right, Kayneth? Right?
The question, at least, does earn an answer that is possibly distinctive! ]
Oh, it goes by very fast. I suppose it's like that saying...time flies when you're having fun? I've never wanted to do anything other than be a Nurse, so it doesn't even feel like work a lot of the time.
[ .......Or not. Okay. At least she said "a lot of the time" and not "at all ever"? ]
no subject
Well, I have heard that if you manage to find a job you love, you never have to work a day in your life. Still, even if you love what you do, I suspect a change of pace is always welcome.
no subject
[ So she's sort of pumped to have gotten the chance to sub in for her sister in Olivine. c: This is great, man. ]
Shall we go in?
no subject
I believe we shall.
[Kayneth has been to the museum several times because he finds it relaxing, but hey, it's the sort of thing he doesn't really get bored of.
He holds the door open for her, because hey, he's a bit old-fashioned. That, and it's just polite.]
threadtracking, i require you to email me about tags for this. :|
Admittedly, she is also usually inside the Pokecenter, so... ]
Is there any exhibit you'd particularly like to start with?
[ She's heard there's some sort of new art exhibition about baby Pokemon pictures. That sounds cool, if he doesn't have a pick. ]
no subject
that is totally possible]
Well, obviously, we'll start on some new ones first... but, well, it should be your choice.
[see
gentlemanly]
no subject
But Joy looks charmed, so he has to be doing something right. So far. You know, until and unless he plans to screw this up somehow. ]
In that case...I heard one of the new exhibits had baby Pokemon pictures, so if you don't mind, could we start there?
[ Totally his speed right ]
no subject
conceal
don't feel]
...Ah, yes. That's perfectly fine by me.
no subject
It's this way, then!
[ And she will head over towards that wing, towards Kayneth's doom. ]
no subject
[And so, they arrive, and Kayneth gets some really good practice pretending to enjoy himself. god this wouldn't even bother him if this was photography
or even actual real baby pokemon
but it's being passed off as art this is not art he's almost close to that impromptu performance]
no subject
how dare you Kayneth, HOW DARE YOU.
And look at this sculpture of a baby Bulbasaur just look how happy it is! ]
Oh, it's so sweet! They really captured the spirit of it...you can really tell.
[ IF YOU HAD A SOUL ]
no subject
or pokemon condition
or whatever]
It is very skillfully done, I do agree. You can tell the artist has had a great deal of technical experience --- they did a good job of differentiating the texture of the skin and the texture of the bulb, for example.
[why isn't this, like, I don't know, Bulbpollo and Danphan or something]
no subject
That totally counts, right?
Kayneth fakes his interest well. Maybe he's Hans instead of Elsa. ]
Exactly so! If it weren't made of clay, I'd almost expect it to leap into life. And...well, I'm very familiar with actual Bulbasaur.
[ Pokemon Nurse, you know. MAYBE SOME OF THE OTHER EXHIBITS ARE MORE ARTISTIC THAN THIS, KAYNETH...
At least the Joy, who has yet to be confirmed as a member of a clone army, looks happy? ]
no subject
and he does genuinely appreciate the craftsmanship, even if he doesn't appreciate the subject matter]
Ah, yes, the naturalism can be commended. I'm not entirely sure if I ---
[...oh dear god is that a really, really nice Romantic-style painting of a baby Snivy sunning itself
he is still in the midst of being Mad About Art but he can't lie.
that is way too cute for him to get angry about...]
...like Bulbasaur as much as Snivy, honestly.
no subject
Or sharing sandwiches WHAT LINE DO YOU SPEAK OF.
But no, Joy will turn to look at what Kayneth is indicating. Her eyes light up as she clasps her hands in front of her. ]
Oh! The brushwork on this one is phenomenal...who is the artist...?
[ Just going to check the tag here... ]
Oh, no wonder, then!
no subject
...ah, who is the artist? I'll admit, I haven't completely familiarized myself with the artistic community yet.
no subject
[ He is one of her favorites. ]
no subject
WHAT THE FUCK IS KALOS]
Ah... that... might explain it, then...?
no subject
I'm so glad we came this way first! It would have been a shame to miss this piece entirely. Oh, but what artists are you a fan of, Mr. El-Melloi?
no subject
[...DOES... SHE KNOW HE'S
WELL
FOREIGN? WOULD THAT BE A POINT AGAINST HIM]
Ah, well, they're a bit obscure, really... you probably haven't heard of them.
[it is a gigantic surprise that a pair of hipster glasses didn't suddenly materialize on his face after that statement]
no subject
IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR.............. ]
Oh, but I would love to hear about them all the same!
no subject
Well, when it comes to sculpting, there's really no comparison to Gian Lorenzo Bernini. What that man was able to do with marble was positively amazing --- there's no way to provide you any sort of example, but all the same...
[you shouldn't have gotten him started]
no subject
no subject
????
???????
okay anyway]
I would love to, but it would be extremely difficult for a fairly wide variety of reasons.
no subject
What reasons would those be?
no subject
It's in a different country and I have absolutely no means of traveling there.
[...that's as good explanation as any.]
