☆ YOU ARE HERE ☆




KEY:

• BLUE areas are where the bulk of the party's events will be located! As you can see, the festivities will be taking place largely outdoors, and the grounds will reflect that; there'll be the usual decorations of pretty floral arrangements, little lights, things like that. Think upscale garden party! There'll also be a ballroom indoors for more traditionally fancy red-carpet goings-on, but most of the action (and volume of guests) will be found mingling out back.
• GREEN areas are where guests will be staying overnight! Unfortunately, you'll be sleeping-bagging it up, since there's a limited amount of bedrooms in this house and they're all being occupied by Clair, Lance, the Elite Four, and guests who are regrettably way more important than you. However, this is where you'll be given space to leave your possessions, claim some sleeping room, and generally crash for the night once the festivities do you in. (Note: you're welcome to try to sleep elsewhere, but Clair might catch you and disapprove. You don't want that, do you?)
• RED areas are unfortunately off-limits to guests! If asked about them, anyone will tell you that those are the rooms and areas that the Elite Four (and their special guests) have claimed for themselves, and they're sealed off tight. Please don't try to break into them anyway; you'll only be caught and punished.

• AREA A is the designated Indoor Ballroom area, for the people who prefer the classy elegance of a formal red-carpet gala over the more whimsy outdoor garden party atmosphere in the back. There's a big skylight, hardwood floors, tasteful artwork, and classy music — a little more upscale than the shenanigans going on outside, for the people who'd rather that kind of thing.

• AREA B will be the area of interest for anyone hoping to sneak a little Pokemon research on the side: this is the Library/Gallery area of the house. While most of it is your standard "tall shelves of ancient identical books" fare, there are a few points of interest — we've detailed them further right here. Guests are welcome to look around a little, but burying themselves in research the whole time will be highly frowned upon, and you'll be politely encouraged to leave the library alone and go rejoin the festivities if you hole up in there for too long.

• AREA C is...well, the Parking Lot. More importantly, it's where you take your Pokemon battles if you simply gotta get your battle on; keep it out and away from the house, please, and try not to make too much of a mess. Skirmishes, sorties, and sparring will be tolerated here and here alone. Do it anywhere else and you'll be facing some very displeased hosts.

• AREA D is the Elite Four's Trophy Room. Please be quiet and respectful if you come up here to have a look around; it's a solemn kind of place. Here you'll find various collections of badges, ribbons, awards, and trophies put on display, with one wall devoted to each member of the Elite Four. There are also pictures of the Elite Four members themselves, though it seems there's been a changeover since the last prom; the candids and Official Portraits™ depict different people entirely now (with the exception of Bruno) and there are a few photos of some sort of ceremony among the others. These photos include Lance being declared Champion of both regions by Professor Oak, while the rest of the Elite Four look on; Lorelai hugging Will and Karen immediately after their promotion to Elite Four; Agatha and Koga having an exhibition battle between her Gengar and his Crobat; all six of them piling into the frame for what amounts to a massive group selfie, etc.

[Last year Dave had come on his own. This year he's dressed up classy in a black suit that just works perfectly with the silver gears and symbols of time added to the cuffs and buttons. He's matching his date, one Jade Harley in very spacey dress. He's easy to spot despite his dark attire and shades.]

[Outdoor Garden]

[Dave spends most of his time in the outdoor party. Sure the inside is classy but there's a lot more room to move out here. If given the choice he'll always pick a place he can wander about and talk to people at his choosing. Besides, the food outside is way better than the typical party food you get with ballrooms and hey you need to be out dancing or look like a tool. He's not a fan of explaining why he isn't constantly cutting a rug on the dance floor.

When run into he's friendly and will chat about whatever the other person feels like chatting about. Be it music, the latest stuff on pokemon, what have you. You stay to chat and he'll talk your ear off.

He brought Dr. Jay the Vaporeon along but doesn't show off who else he's got with him.]

[Library]

[Like he'd told Tenten earlier that month, if he got the chance he'd been looking into the books in the library. Dave has a few books stacked at his feet as he reads from a thick book on dragon types. He might goof off and generally seem like an idiot but he does his homework when he can.]

[Sleeping area]

[While everyone else is sleeping or getting cozy, Dave isn't sleeping at all. He's tucked into a corner of the sleeping area with his face lit up by the blue glow from his laptop. Twin wires snake down to the audio plug, thanks to his top notch ear buds. He leans forward, shades reflecting a music program on the laptop's screen.

He can't sleep and doesn't feel like laying awake listening to people be people. He might be zonked the next day but who cares, a little mixing of music is better for his sanity.]

[Tenten's been in and out of the library all night -- mostly to check to make sure the ones she wants to read more closely tomorrow are still there, and that she doesn't have to cut someone to get it back. She's been carrying a small pouch most of the evening, pretty innocuous compared to the belt of Pokéballs. One pocket has a knife, of course. The other has the camera Dave got her for White Day, which she immediately tugs out and leans around the bookshelf to try to take a stealth photo. If she can put together a collage by the time the night is done, she'll be thrilled.

What she doesn't expect is the flash and the loud, obvious sound of the shutter. She's still getting the hang of this, okay?]

[He leans back in his seat, making the chair go back on its back legs. The sound of a shutter had attracted his attention for sure. Either someone was being all reporter, or maybe it's Tenten. Dave turns his head and yeah, it's his buddy Tenten.]

Oh right forgot to warn you cameras do that. Find anything in here?

I knew that! [she protests, fooling no one when her defensive pout quickly turns into a smile and a quiet laugh. She slips the camera away and moves in to peer over his shoulder, one of her calmer Arcanine, Joonhee, trailing around to plop his head down on the table with a resounding thud. For a ninja, she's not being the stealthiest. Well done.]

Found lots of things, but nothing more about weapons except for the stuff in Skarmory's Pokédex. I've started getting some history books and putting them aside to read tomorrow, though.

Nothing on weapons. If they're trying to cover that up they were smart enough not to leave a trapdoor under a conspicuously placed rug somewhere. Found some legends from a Sinnoh region though.

Seen the guests of this parade yet? [Dave adds the last part as he reaches out to let Joonhee sniff his hand. He won't pet him without permission from the big man himself.]

We can chill with the history books tomorrow.

Sinnoh, huh...? Anything particularly interesting about those ones?

[She moves in closer to peer over his shoulder at the one he's reading.]

Not yet. I haven't really been looking for them, though. I figure Clair'll get pretty angry if we start pestering her special guests, so I'm going to see who I can find tomorrow, too. You?

[But then Joonhee interrupts, padding in closer and whuffing as quietly as a six-foot-tall dog can, tail wagging furiously. Hello friend. Let him try to lick your face. That is what friends do!]

Dave Strider! [Dave has one(1) ectotwin stalking her way up to him, cheeks puffed out a little in anger and hands balled into fists. What did you do, mister? She looks like she's going to give you a good smack for something!]

Whoa, where's the fire Rose? I swear it wasn't me that did it, I've been a good law abiding citizen this entire time. [Dave leans back on his heels a bit, ready to dodge a swing if she goes for that. He knows whatever it is she likely won't smack him.

Unless it's a, 'why aren't you with your date' then he expects a pop. He'll have to explain to her that he's not the male angler fish to Jade's bigger one unlike her and John.

That's a disturbing image why did his mind go there.]

[She sure does look like she's going to take a swing at him. But after a moment of intense, firely glaring, hands on her hips and her on her toes to try and be eye level with him, it's kind of clear she's trying not to crack a smile.]

Where's the fire my ass, Dave. You know exactly what crime you've committed and if you don't set it right, you'll live to regret it. I will torture you until I am too old to do so effectively anymore, but by then I will have expertly trained my children in the art of, "let's torture old Uncle Dave". You will have no escape, no matter who you ask for help or where you hide. You'll be seventy years old, hiding in a box somewhere, the distant, ominous calls of your nieces and nephews in the distance warning you of how close they are getting to your location and how soon they will descend upon you with all of the trickstery hell an Egbert-Lalonde child heralds, and all you will be able to think is, "Why didn't I listen to my sister at the prom?"

[That's a terrifying set of imagery to go with Dave you better listen to me. He cracks his neck with one hand and acts completely unimpressed. That's the game in their family. Mind fuckery is their standard greetings. Hi how are you is turned into listen to me or I'll peel the skin off your bones for all eternity.]

You could have just spared me the b-rated horror film imagery and told me what you want to say. It saves time which I know is a thing you ignore but I watch like a hawk. It's ok, I forgive you. Like wow do you ever even look at a clock as you wind on with your riddles of torture art and talk of making your kids walking nightmares?

Dave, do you really think I am not aware of how important time is to you? Did you ever stop to think that, maybe, your little sister is purposefully eating up your time, avoiding the point with these long-winded anecdotes and absolutely necessary horrific descriptions? Perhaps just a little? Hasn't it once crossed your mind that the Seer of Light is fully aware that the Knight of Time might be a little annoyed by having his time wasted when there is likely an easier, more direct way to make my point? Rather than spinning these yarns that likely won't happen because I will gladly lead you to the answer you need to avoid such unfortunate happenstances?

[Finally she sits back, smiling as she crosses her arms and cocks her hip.]

We're at a prom. You have three guesses as to what I want.

[While Dave has tucked himself into a corner with his laptop, he might be able to see Jade quietly sneak her way outside. Or...well, she isn't being very sneaky. It's hard to be sneaky when you've got a bass in hand and you are trying to make sure it doesn't make noise and that you aren't making noises either!

She is pretty wiped out from being surrounded by so many people. She enjoyed it a lot, and the friendly atmosphere is nice, but it's a stark contrast to what she's used too. She's been here for months, but this is the first time she's been in such an enclosed space with so many people all at once.

She is just gonna make her way outside so she can jam with her bass without bothering people.]

[One Jade Harley has been spotted, Dave shuts his laptop and collects his stuff. He pads after her, moving fast enough to catch up.]

So, word is it you're gonna jam. There room for more than one in this jam party or should I head on back?

[He pulls his headphones out of the jack and stuffs the mess into his pocket. He'll boot everything up when they get where they're going.]

[Jade gives him a small smile. It's a little tired. She's completely wiped after the day.]

There's always room for more. I just didn't want to bother people with my bass playing. I'd love company though.

[Well, company that was familiar. She thinks she's totally good on the meeting new people and hanging out front for the day.] I would love a jam. Didn't really get to do that before, did we? Not in person. [They didn't have time with SBURB then they were separated for three years.]

[He helpfully keeps his trap shut on what he could babble about.] Hahahaha, in person we had our hands full of frogs and time loops. We didn't even have time to scratch our noses. [It didn't matter that he had all the time, it was all devoted to a goal. Dave scratches his nose as if it suddenly itches.]

It was ribbit ribbit oh shit I need to go back to an hour ago and start some shit. Robbing the stock market blind for fun and profits but mostly profit. [Well, he'd tried to keep his trap shut on the past. He shrugs, not mentioning the previous time she was here. They didn't do shit then. She didn't talk to him much either. She talked to other people but not her friends. It felt like she wasn't really around. It was all awkward as fuck when she did talk.

Yeah.

He didn't get it. But what a previous self did has nothing to do with now.]

I have one set of headphones but we can jack your bass into my laptop and mix something up. It will keep it down so Clair doesn't throw a fit about those crazy musicians.

We have plenty of time to scratch our nose! Even pick it. But I'm not gonna pick your nose. That's gross. [Dave can pick his own nose if he really wants to.

Jade would apologize so much about her previous self!!! She didn't mean to ignore her friends. :( Not that she is ignoring them. But...ugh, sometimes this stuff could be confusing. She might be bummed if she knew though. She loved her friends...]

I'd love that. I always wanted to do something like this. We all played different instruments, but we never got to play together. You'll make my bass playing sooooooooo cool sounding. Coolkid approved and everything. [She strums her bass very gently. It's unfortunate all the extra necks will have no use here. She can't jam out like her dreamself.] I'm glad I brought it along. It's too big to take around for travel, so I left it at Rose's and John's place. Maybe if I get a custom case for it, I can bring it around. [It's still a bit inconvenient to take with her, but she likes the idea of having it on her.]

[It's probably a lot better for everyone involved that Cynthia hasn't fallen asleep yet, given that when she does things will get noisy and very, very weird.

For now, though... it is time to experience this weird technology thing. She is hovering in Dave's peripheral vision in the most obvious way possible, trying not to seem creepy and failing horribly at it.

Not really, no. I just saw you over here and thought I would come see what was up. [She puts the bud in her ear and her face lights up.] Hey, this sounds really good!

I could add a lot of stuff to it. It depends on what angle I'm shooting for. Right now I'm just goofing off with it to see what I end up with. [He gestures to the screen.]
