KEY:

• BLUE areas are where the bulk of the party's events will be located! As you can see, the festivities will be taking place largely outdoors, and the grounds will reflect that; there'll be the usual decorations of pretty floral arrangements, little lights, things like that. Think upscale garden party! There'll also be a ballroom indoors for more traditionally fancy red-carpet goings-on, but most of the action (and volume of guests) will be found mingling out back.
• GREEN areas are where guests will be staying overnight! Unfortunately, you'll be sleeping-bagging it up, since there's a limited amount of bedrooms in this house and they're all being occupied by Clair, Lance, the Elite Four, and guests who are regrettably way more important than you. However, this is where you'll be given space to leave your possessions, claim some sleeping room, and generally crash for the night once the festivities do you in. (Note: you're welcome to try to sleep elsewhere, but Clair might catch you and disapprove. You don't want that, do you?)
• RED areas are unfortunately off-limits to guests! If asked about them, anyone will tell you that those are the rooms and areas that the Elite Four (and their special guests) have claimed for themselves, and they're sealed off tight. Please don't try to break into them anyway; you'll only be caught and punished.

• AREA A is the designated Indoor Ballroom area, for the people who prefer the classy elegance of a formal red-carpet gala over the more whimsy outdoor garden party atmosphere in the back. There's a big skylight, hardwood floors, tasteful artwork, and classy music — a little more upscale than the shenanigans going on outside, for the people who'd rather that kind of thing.

• AREA B will be the area of interest for anyone hoping to sneak a little Pokemon research on the side: this is the Library/Gallery area of the house. While most of it is your standard "tall shelves of ancient identical books" fare, there are a few points of interest — we've detailed them further right here. Guests are welcome to look around a little, but burying themselves in research the whole time will be highly frowned upon, and you'll be politely encouraged to leave the library alone and go rejoin the festivities if you hole up in there for too long.

• AREA C is...well, the Parking Lot. More importantly, it's where you take your Pokemon battles if you simply gotta get your battle on; keep it out and away from the house, please, and try not to make too much of a mess. Skirmishes, sorties, and sparring will be tolerated here and here alone. Do it anywhere else and you'll be facing some very displeased hosts.

• AREA D is the Elite Four's Trophy Room. Please be quiet and respectful if you come up here to have a look around; it's a solemn kind of place. Here you'll find various collections of badges, ribbons, awards, and trophies put on display, with one wall devoted to each member of the Elite Four. There are also pictures of the Elite Four members themselves, though it seems there's been a changeover since the last prom; the candids and Official Portraits™ depict different people entirely now (with the exception of Bruno) and there are a few photos of some sort of ceremony among the others. These photos include Lance being declared Champion of both regions by Professor Oak, while the rest of the Elite Four look on; Lorelai hugging Will and Karen immediately after their promotion to Elite Four; Agatha and Koga having an exhibition battle between her Gengar and his Crobat; all six of them piling into the frame for what amounts to a massive group selfie, etc.

Hmph. Not even Lutzelfrau behaves this poorly in public.

[Three sets of eyes turn to Rin. Ilya's exasperated stare is contrasted nicely with Talos's unblinking, metallic one and Berserker's downright eternal glare.]

You have a problem with me letting them enjoy themselves at a party?

There's allowing them to enjoy themselves and then there's just letting them do... this.

[ Waving her arms about to indicate their current activities.

Behind her, a Sableye just makes funny faces where she can't see, clearly mocking her trainer. ]

Really now, it's obvious you haven't adapted to this world's culture yet. Which I suppose isn't surprising being how short a time you've been here, but you need to be more flexible.

[She does give a bit of a smile despite her words. Oddly enough, it's familiar in a bit of a fun way to have Rin making these sort of comments.]

Look around you. Does this look like the same type of party you or I would go to back home? The rules are different here, Rin.

[ Really Ilyasviel, where are your manners? ]

Like Lutzelfrau he--[ In mid-turn she discovers that her Pokemon is behaving poorly and her face flushes in embarrassment. ] Wha-?

What do you think you're doing, Lutzelfrau!!

I didn't bring Iris with me.

[So. No. All her Pokemon are enormous death machines. She is not compensating for anything.

She is, however, chuckling behind her hand.]

Looks like he's decided you need to be deflated a bit. Come now, loosen up. There's no harm letting your hair down for the moment.

Lutzelfrau is a proper lady, she's just seeing your own Pokemon act out and thinks she can join along with them.

[ Huffing up as she storms over to grab at her Pokemon's paw and drag her along up to her side. ]

Apologize for your crude display, Lutzelfrau, or else. Oh, and don't look her in the eye while you're apologizing. I know you should, but your eyes are apparently scary.

[Ilya's eyes flicker down to the Sableye with as much mirth as ever in her expression.]

And who is she meant to be apologizing to? You're the only one who seems offended.

[ Smacking the back of her Sableye's head to make her lower her gaze. Ilya, didn't she just tell you to not look! ]

G-Geez, be careful!

S-Sorry Lutzelfrau... We can't be causing trouble at our first big party.

[Okay she's just going to outright laugh now.]

Alright, I have to hear this now. Just what story did you hear about her eyes?

That people are frightened to look into the eyes of a Sableye... it's a legendary tale! Maybe they'll get cursed or turned to stone.

... On second thought, maybe it'd be all right for you to stare at them.

So they're frightened to do so, but the story doesn't say why? Well that's just disappointing, here I was expecting it to be like Shedinja, where it takes your soul if you look into the opening on its back.

There are Pokemon who can do that?

[ Suddenly interested in picking up a Shedinja eventually. She tucks the name away in the back of her mind for later. ]

I don't know. There might be more to the story they weren't telling me. People seem to think that since I'm a child, it's all right to keep certain things from me. They're not the ones who have to deal with it every single day so why do they even care.

Well, that's what the story says, anyway. Personally I think it's just a superstition, but I've never actually been able to test it, lacking a Shedinja myself.

[And the lack of self-preservation instincts necessary to try an experiment like that.]

Well, there isn't always a rational explanation for why they do the things they do, especially here. Maybe they're just too frightened to recite the whole story for whatever reason. Or maybe they think they'll frighten you into abandoning your Pokemon.

I don't think that was her goal--in fact, I think she just enjoyed telling me the story more than anything else.

[ Dropping her voice a bit. ] She was one of the nicer ones I spoke with upon my arrival so it was all right. I'll research it to the best of my ability when I can later on.

Have you been well?

Oh I've been quite enjoying myself, especially here. This place is lovely, and the chance to get in contact with people I've only seen over the network directly is something I quite appreciate.

What about you?

Most of the people here are stranger in person, as are their Pokemon. I'm not sure if I'll adapt anytime soon, but refusing to will only cause me further harm in the long run.

You're taller than I thought you'd be.

That's the most pragmatic view to take. You'll make a fine Magus with that attitude.

[She chuckles a little at that statement.]

I am older than you, you know.

[ She's already a fine magus, but she's not going to boast that out loud in a room full of people who know nothing about magecraft. Keeping people at a distance is the only way to protect them, so she will continue to do that. ]

Older?

You don't act it.

[She just shrugs that comment off and sips her drink a little.]

I don't feel the need to. If the situation requires it I can be as fine a lady as you can imagine, like in the ballroom, but the atmosphere in most of this world doesn't tend to lend itself to that sort of thing. Not that I expect you to unbend.

Why should I change the way I am just because everyone else behaves as if they're hooligans? I won't--I was raised to behave as a lady should and I intend to do that.

[ Watching her intently. ] Do you enjoy misbehaving since your parents aren't here to teach you better?

[That question gets a sharp look from her, and the Metagross, psychically feeling its Mistress's anger, turns to glower fiercely at Rin.]

I would not advise bringing up the topic of my parents again, Rin. It may prove... unhealthy.

If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine.

Threatening me with your Pokemon and that tone is what's unhealthy. You sound like an uncultured heathen right now with your childish remarks.

[Though seething inside and currently fantasizing about crushing the girl before her in all sorts of fascinating ways, Ilya schools her expression into one of smooth disdain.]

Enough. If all you have to offer is poorly thought out critiques on the way I choose to live my life, then this conversation is at an end. I have no reason to listen to anything you have to say, and while I've tolerated your self-righteous, undeserved arrogance this far, my patience has officially worn through. I can see that any hope I might have had for any sort of reasonable relationship between us was completely unfounded. Good bye, and consider these the last words I am ever going to speak to you.

[And with that, Ilya turns her back on Rin and snaps her fingers. Talos rises up on all fours, gives Rin one final glare, and begins to walk off, carrying its mistress away... and keeping Rin from seeing the tears in her eyes at the loss of who she considered one of her few friends back home.]

... but she does feel a bit guilty about it. After the number of times people brought up her father here, it probably was unwise to prod a sensitive subject. Unfortunately, she doesn't understand why it's so sensitive. ]

Sheesh, what a brat. [ She yells it loud enough to make sure Ilyasviel hears it before turning on her own heels, a stubborn ten year old trying to not look as if she got ditched mid-conversation. ]
