KEY:

• BLUE areas are where the bulk of the party's events will be located! As you can see, the festivities will be taking place largely outdoors, and the grounds will reflect that; there'll be the usual decorations of pretty floral arrangements, little lights, things like that. Think upscale garden party! There'll also be a ballroom indoors for more traditionally fancy red-carpet goings-on, but most of the action (and volume of guests) will be found mingling out back.
• GREEN areas are where guests will be staying overnight! Unfortunately, you'll be sleeping-bagging it up, since there's a limited amount of bedrooms in this house and they're all being occupied by Clair, Lance, the Elite Four, and guests who are regrettably way more important than you. However, this is where you'll be given space to leave your possessions, claim some sleeping room, and generally crash for the night once the festivities do you in. (Note: you're welcome to try to sleep elsewhere, but Clair might catch you and disapprove. You don't want that, do you?)
• RED areas are unfortunately off-limits to guests! If asked about them, anyone will tell you that those are the rooms and areas that the Elite Four (and their special guests) have claimed for themselves, and they're sealed off tight. Please don't try to break into them anyway; you'll only be caught and punished.

• AREA A is the designated Indoor Ballroom area, for the people who prefer the classy elegance of a formal red-carpet gala over the more whimsy outdoor garden party atmosphere in the back. There's a big skylight, hardwood floors, tasteful artwork, and classy music — a little more upscale than the shenanigans going on outside, for the people who'd rather that kind of thing.

• AREA B will be the area of interest for anyone hoping to sneak a little Pokemon research on the side: this is the Library/Gallery area of the house. While most of it is your standard "tall shelves of ancient identical books" fare, there are a few points of interest — we've detailed them further right here. Guests are welcome to look around a little, but burying themselves in research the whole time will be highly frowned upon, and you'll be politely encouraged to leave the library alone and go rejoin the festivities if you hole up in there for too long.

• AREA C is...well, the Parking Lot. More importantly, it's where you take your Pokemon battles if you simply gotta get your battle on; keep it out and away from the house, please, and try not to make too much of a mess. Skirmishes, sorties, and sparring will be tolerated here and here alone. Do it anywhere else and you'll be facing some very displeased hosts.

• AREA D is the Elite Four's Trophy Room. Please be quiet and respectful if you come up here to have a look around; it's a solemn kind of place. Here you'll find various collections of badges, ribbons, awards, and trophies put on display, with one wall devoted to each member of the Elite Four. There are also pictures of the Elite Four members themselves, though it seems there's been a changeover since the last prom; the candids and Official Portraits™ depict different people entirely now (with the exception of Bruno) and there are a few photos of some sort of ceremony among the others. These photos include Lance being declared Champion of both regions by Professor Oak, while the rest of the Elite Four look on; Lorelai hugging Will and Karen immediately after their promotion to Elite Four; Agatha and Koga having an exhibition battle between her Gengar and his Crobat; all six of them piling into the frame for what amounts to a massive group selfie, etc.

[Kairi hasn't been at the party long, but since arriving, her first intention was finding Ilya. She is dressed in a similar, yet inversely colored purple and white dress. She is followed by her Staryu, Wayfinder, adorned with a matching purple bow tie, who insisted (in his own, starfish way) that he needed to be her escort for the night. The first one she catches sight of is Berserker (and really, who could miss him). She runs to his side, hoping to find Ilya there.]

Ilya! Come dance with me!

[Chuckling warmly at the familiar voice, Ilya turns to Kairi with a beaming smile and holds out her hand.]

You don't even need to ask, Kairi.

[Berserker's eyes flicker to the Staryu, but it's hard to tell what he's thinking behind his bland expression. At the very least, he's got Kairi filed safely into the "friends" category of his mind, so there won't be any unnecessary posturing to protect his mistress.]

Have you done this before? [Ilya's expression fills with curiosity as they head out onto the dance floor.]

[Berserker better not interfere in Kairi's good time, or he'll have to answer to Wayfinder. He spins quickly, floating in the air. He will rough you up, buster.]

Nope! But... how hard can it be?

[She just giggles again at that question, and turns to face Kairi and move their hands into proper position.]

In that case, just let me lead. Follow along and you'll do fine, okay?

[The next song starts up, and she begins to move in step, gently guiding Kairi with her hands as she goes, a bit slower than she usually would.]

Sure thing.

[She slowly follows Ilya's steps, spending perhaps too much time watching their feet than appreciating the dance. She has a couple small struggles, but for the most part is keeping pace.]

Where'd you learn to dance so well?

I grew up with it. My family's an old one, and proper dancing for this sort of thing is something all of our family members are expected to know.

[Granted, that mostly stopped after her mother and father left, but she doesn't want to talk about that.]

How does a family get old, anyway?

[Because right now she's imagining a bunch of old people telling Ilya she needs to dance better.]

[Not entirely inaccurate! Though her maids were the ones who usually did the actual teaching.]

It's just a term for a family who can track their lineage back a long, long way. Particularly if several members of it have been important in some way. It's a little like being nobility, but not usually with any sort of actual authority.

Nobility, huh? Does that make you a princess or something?

[She bursts into giggles again, but it doesn't seem to interfere with her dancing.]

No, no... the heir to a baroness position at most. Probably lower than that. It's not a perfect comparison anyway, though the life is rather similar.

Still, that's really neat! Living like royalty looks like so much fun.

Are you familiar with royalty, Kairi?

Not really. I mean, I'm supposed to be a princess, but this was news to me.

[Well that gets a raised eyebrow from her.]

A princess? My, Kairi, that must have been quite the surprise when you found out. Why didn't you know?

Yeah. I never met my real parents. People say I just washed up on my home island one day. The mayor adopted me and raised me.

[dressofheaven]

Oh. No memories of them at all? I'm so sorry.

[She herself has... less than fond memories of the time after she lost her parents.]

Was your adoptive father good to you, at least?

I couldn't ask for a better dad. He loves me like I'm his own.

[dressofheaven]

[Her face brightens immediately.]

Good, that's good. I'm rather relieved, actually. And you did have Riku and Sora too... But wait. If no one on your island knew, how did you find out about your heritage?

[paopuprincess]

A group of baddies kidnapped me. They wanted to use my heart to unlock the heart of all worlds.

[Because how else does a girl find out she's royalty?]

They wanted to use your heart?

[Yes, Ilya is under the impression they mean the literal one.]

Repulsive! Human sacrifice is the mark of the worst sort of Magus! Please tell me you escaped.

Well, yeah. They caught me, but I hid my heart with Sora. He saved me from them.

... Wait what? I mean it's a good thing they didn't get their hands on your heart, clearly, but how would leaving it with Sora help? How did you survive without-

[Wait. She's talked about this with Xion before...]

Oh, wait... we aren't talking about your actual heart, are we?

No. Your heart. It's what makes you who you are.

Right, that's right, I talked to Xion about this before... I think your "heart" is my "soul", so if I think about it that way it makes sense.

[And that makes it even more horrible because they were trying to steal her friend's soul.]

Mhm. Riku protected my body and Sora protected my heart.
