☆ YOU ARE HERE ☆

KEY:
BLUE areas are where the bulk of the party's events will be located! As you can see, the festivities will be taking place largely outdoors, and the grounds will reflect that; there'll be the usual decorations of pretty floral arrangements, little lights, things like that. Think upscale garden party! There'll also be a ballroom indoors for more traditionally fancy red-carpet goings-on, but most of the action (and volume of guests) will be found mingling out back.
GREEN areas are where guests will be staying overnight! Unfortunately, you'll be sleeping-bagging it up, since there's a limited amount of bedrooms in this house and they're all being occupied by Clair, Lance, the Elite Four, and guests who are regrettably way more important than you. However, this is where you'll be given space to leave your possessions, claim some sleeping room, and generally crash for the night once the festivities do you in. (Note: you're welcome to try to sleep elsewhere, but Clair might catch you and disapprove. You don't want that, do you?)
RED areas are unfortunately off-limits to guests! If asked about them, anyone will tell you that those are the rooms and areas that the Elite Four (and their special guests) have claimed for themselves, and they're sealed off tight. Please don't try to break into them anyway; you'll only be caught and punished.

AREA A is the designated Indoor Ballroom area, for the people who prefer the classy elegance of a formal red-carpet gala over the more whimsy outdoor garden party atmosphere in the back. There's a big skylight, hardwood floors, tasteful artwork, and classy music — a little more upscale than the shenanigans going on outside, for the people who'd rather that kind of thing.

AREA B will be the area of interest for anyone hoping to sneak a little Pokemon research on the side: this is the Library/Gallery area of the house. While most of it is your standard "tall shelves of ancient identical books" fare, there are a few points of interest — we've detailed them further right here. Guests are welcome to look around a little, but burying themselves in research the whole time will be highly frowned upon, and you'll be politely encouraged to leave the library alone and go rejoin the festivities if you hole up in there for too long.

AREA C is...well, the Parking Lot. More importantly, it's where you take your Pokemon battles if you simply gotta get your battle on; keep it out and away from the house, please, and try not to make too much of a mess. Skirmishes, sorties, and sparring will be tolerated here and here alone. Do it anywhere else and you'll be facing some very displeased hosts.

AREA D is the Elite Four's Trophy Room. Please be quiet and respectful if you come up here to have a look around; it's a solemn kind of place. Here you'll find various collections of badges, ribbons, awards, and trophies put on display, with one wall devoted to each member of the Elite Four. There are also pictures of the Elite Four members themselves, though it seems there's been a changeover since the last prom; the candids and Official Portraits™ depict different people entirely now (with the exception of Bruno) and there are a few photos of some sort of ceremony among the others. These photos include Lance being declared Champion of both regions by Professor Oak, while the rest of the Elite Four look on; Lorelai hugging Will and Karen immediately after their promotion to Elite Four; Agatha and Koga having an exhibition battle between her Gengar and his Crobat; all six of them piling into the frame for what amounts to a massive group selfie, etc.

[It's lunchtime. Or rather, it's afternoon and Maylene is ready for lunch. But with how many people are there, given she's a nice spoil from her dad that she's not even sure she could spend in one go, she's decided to make a game of this. It had taken a bit of convincing the cooks, but they had finally agreed on grounds that she'd help pad the betting pool a little. (That was okay, wasn't it? Her dad usually kept her in the dark on proper gambling methods.)

But throughout the night of Day one, very sloppily-written signs, decorated with child-like drawings, appeared around the entire resort:

RAMEN EATING CONTEST: CHALLENGE GYM LEADER MAYLENE FOR YOUR CHANCE TO
WIN P50000 AND FRESHLY BAKED LAVA COOKIES!
SATURDAY @ 1PM

Yes. This would good. In the grand dining hall not too far the general ballroom, Maylene sits at a table, just waiting for competitors.]

[Well, this girl just loves food and eating contests. Ramen eating contests are one of her favorites, even if they remind her of losing one to a little kid back home. Then again, it was a so called tiebreaker after many ramen eating contests with that kid... But she sure decides to not lose to any little kid -- or anyone else -- today. Her result against that kid from home might even fire her up juuuuust a bit... That's an understatement.

Honestly if Ren hadn't stopped her from coming to the line as soon as these signs started showing up, she would have been waiting there all night. But now when it's close to 1PM, one challenger Utau appears, looking all fired up and ready to go eat all the ramen of this place.]

Hey, you better be prepared to hand the money and the cookies to me in the end.

[Oh, her competitor looks like a fun one! Maylene can tell her competitor is older, but it's not surprising. She's rarely had much of a challenge towards someone her own age. But she welcomes the girl nonetheless, waving her over to pick a seat.]

You think you'll beat me? [Her small grin grows.] I guess we'll find out!

[personal profile] meikyuubutterfly 2014-04-05 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Who is this gym leader Maylene anyway? She kind of reminds Utau of Amu with that hair color... Then again, at this point, probably any girl with pink hair reminds her of that girl from home. Hmmm, right. Choosing where to sit. Would she go far away from her or sit right next to her? Good question.

Heh. Maylene gets a devilish smirk at that.]
I know you won't have a chance in beating me. Aren't you used to losing against all challengers anyway?

[...Utau, that is not the way to speak to a gym leader even if it's just to provoke them before a challenge. She takes a seat right next to Maylene, it's not like she has any reasons to go far away from her either.]

[personal profile] pokestars 2014-04-05 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, that's a good quip. Too bad Maylene's far too cheerful to let it get to her.]

Well, every loss just means I need to train more. I haven't lost nearly as much as you think, though!

[Her grin grows a bit more and she leans over. Direct competitor has chosen to sit right next to her?]

You're a brave one. I think I'm going to take this challenge very seriously, especially with you sitting right next to me. What's your name, challenger?
meikyuubutterfly: (Lunatic charm)

[personal profile] meikyuubutterfly 2014-04-05 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Not another cheerful pink haired girl, who is too optimistic and cheerful? Well, looks like this gym leader is indeed one of them. It's not a bad thing, except now she reminds Utau of her friend from home even more. Ugh, and this is definitely her challenger mode being on, maybe she'll be actually like an angel to the gym leader later.

Why leave compliments to later? She actually smiles a bit at her attitude. That's right, that's a good attitude to have.]

Where's your gym? It's not anywhere in Johto or Kanto and I haven't been anywhere else.

[...fine, if this girl is going to grin like that, then Utau lets her smirk grow wider too. Wait, why is she leaning over? Okay, fine. It's weird, but whatever. It doesn't make her determined face fall one bit.]

I really don't think there's a point in challenging someone, if you're just going to be shy in a corner. And you really should [take this seriously], that just makes the whole challenge more interesting. [She's still going to win!] Hoshina Utau, nice to meet you.

[Indeed, pink-haired, overly happy, and with a good attitude to boot--you must just be reeling them in! But she likes this young lady actually reminds her a little... of Clair. Up for a challenge, sharp with her wits about her. She must be a good trainer; Maylene's already decided.]

Nice to met you, Hoshina Utau! I'm Maylene, Fighting Gym Leader in the Sinnoh region.

[And with that, her smile grows a bit sheepish.] I don't even know how I got the job, honestly. You're so upbeat! You should come try Sinnoh's region sometime. I bet you're strong; we'd probably have a great match!
meikyuubutterfly: (I was just thinking...)

[personal profile] meikyuubutterfly 2014-04-21 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[She reminds her player of Clair too! Well, in all honesty, Amu is her best friend nowadays, so it's actually nice meeting someone, who reminds her. It would be a lie to think that she doesn't like this gym leader at all, though Clair is her obvious favorite with their love for dragon-types and all that.]

Sinnoh, huh? That would be an interesting place to get to.

[Or any other region, really. More powerful creatures with elemental powers? That's always interesting.

... upbeat? Excuse Utau, while she looks surprised for a moment. No one has, probably ever, called her an upbeat person.]
Isn't it because they thought you were the best person to handle a Fighting Gym there? [... isn't it? Do they get it with respect or is everything just random here?] And I will definitely come to Sinnoh, if we ever get to go there. Of course I'm strong. [Confident, very confident.] And also what people call a workaholic, it's not like I let my team slack off from training either. We'd really have a great match. ...Let's have a great ramen challenge today too.

[She can be chatty, sometimes, apparently since you're like Amu, you get that side of her out a lot.]
pokestars: (maylene)

[personal profile] pokestars 2014-05-04 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah! Hopefully you can come join us sometime, do the whole challenge and all.

[She grins. This girl is pretty great; very confident, ready to match, and Maylene completely bypasses the idea that she surprised her. She's just happy to get this challenge started.]

It'll be one of the best yet! I'm already starving for it!!
meikyuubutterfly: (Smirk. Are you sure?)

[personal profile] meikyuubutterfly 2014-05-04 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
That would be fun, with a brand new team of course since it would be boring with my current roster.

[Says the girl, who might more or less beat the gyms of Johto and Kanto with the level 100s she has -- or then not, she'll decide later.]

So, how long are we going to wait to get started? [ look, others just decided to go home as soon as they saw Utau here.]
justkeptswimming: Which I forgot when I started to sink (I will be strong)

[personal profile] justkeptswimming 2014-04-06 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah yes, Asahina's two great motivators: competition and free food. It doesn't take more than finding the first sign for her excitement to skyrocket. She arrives shortly before 1PM, bright-eyed and ready to stuff her face.]

This is where the remen eating contest is, right?
pokestars: (maylene)

[personal profile] pokestars 2014-04-09 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, perfect, another competitor! Maylene's already pumped, and more than glad to have a friendly face ready to join her.]

Right here! Welcome, welcome! I hope you brought your appetite!
ajustcaws: (to fight the unbeatable foe)

[personal profile] ajustcaws 2014-04-08 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
[EXCUSE ME ME FOR ASKING BUT DID YOU SAY A CHALLEEEEENGE

So Cynthia shows up raring to go, of course! Eating contests aren't always her thing, but she sure as heck is prepared to try!

...and besides, this is one of those gym leaders! She needs to try and challenge at least one, even if it's not to a Pokemon battle!]

Hey, this is the right place for the challenge, right?
pokestars: (maylene)

[personal profile] pokestars 2014-04-09 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Challenge is the key word to get her beaming! She's even more pumped than before, and her stomach is growling and ready to go! Look at that confident smirk! She's going to eat her way back to Sinnoh!]

Yep! Oh gosh, if you were fighting in my gym you'd probably be a really good competitor! Please tell me you're a trainer!

TECH...NICALLY NO, BUT...]

Yeah, definitely! I haven't been training long, but I'm no slacker!
