Prince Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul | Animorphs
There are no pokemon who are all of these things, and therefore Elfangor has been spending the time since his arrival (and he's not supposed to be here, this isn't his fighter or the construction site that had once been heavily forested) being harried and pursued by trainers eager to be the first one to capture this new psychic-type. He's broken his share of pokeballs with a lightning-fast strike of his wickedly bladed tail, but most of his protection has come from the humanoid creature at his side.
With a pink glow and a gentle touch to his flank or his arm, she has been taking advantage of the wrinkles in relative time and space to relocate them when too many trainers are alerted to their presence.
Which means it's entirely possible to find yourself suddenly face to face with a tall, blue-furred, mouthless centaur with an extra pair of eyes and a tail that looks sharp enough to split hairs. Don't worry, he's harmless.]
WEH
[But the sudden appearance of an Andalite makes Tobias and Regal both stop short. Tobias examines him closely and - no. It's not Visser Three, which was his first instinct upon seeing a full-grown Andalite. But the only other one he knows is...]
<... Elfangor?>
[He barely stops himself from saying '... Dad?'. The Braviary looks up at Tobias. You know this Sawsbuck-thing?]
no subject
< Yes? Where are you? >
[Gardevoir, however, has played One Of These Things Is Not A Pokemon and touches Elfangor's arm before gesturing to the two birds of prey. When the source of the thought speak is pointed out to him, Elfangor turns his body to face Tobias with his main eyes, letting his stalk eyes search for danger. His expression is troubled by his inability to immediately place why the thought-speak voice is so familiar.]
no subject
[Not... how he last saw him, but... it's a good thing hawks can't cry, because he sure feels like crying right now.]
<I'm a nothlit. ... But only kind of.>
no subject
A nothlit. Because of the power that Elfangor had given him, Tobias was trapped in a form not his own. Guilt washes over him.]
< ...'Kind of?' What do you mean by that, Tobias? >
[The ease with which the name comes to him now would almost be surprising, if it weren't for how immediately he had recognized Tobias despite having never met him. It was more surprising that he didn't immediately place his voice. But then, he didn't have her hair, her eyes to look for now.]
no subject
[He can't be in it for long. But...]
<Hang on and I'll... morph.>
[Regal dips his head so Tobias can grab his pack, and he ducks behind a tree and morphs as fast as he can. Even if this is his dad he... feels weird about being naked in front of him. He's gotten fast at morphing, so it just takes a minute, and then another minute or so for him to throw on some clothes.]
[Meanwhile Regal looks over at the Gardevoir. Hello! How are you? Friend?]
no subject
The Gardevoir fixes a curious stare on the Braviary, tilting her head. Hello, friend.
Elfangor's stalk eyes catch the movement as Tobias comes back out from behind the tree.]
< I am sorry, Tobias... >
[He scrapes one of his hooves against the ground.]
< My gift has done this to you. >
no subject
Don't apologize. For something like that... if you'd never given us the morphing power, we'd never be able to fight back. The Yeerks would be free to take over everything, and we wouldn't have kept them away for two years.
[... Should he tell him? He's not going to get another chance, really. So he should.]
And... I was dying at one point. Captured. You... I saw some of your memories. You were the one who kept me going. You... we all make mistakes. We all do what we think is right at the time. And you did the right thing. So you don't have to apologize for anything.
