Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

A) SPA-FARI ZONE
[It's hard to peel Asami away from the spa area, especially after being up so early for the flight. She'd barely been able to sleep on the plane (the idea of a jet that can carry so many people is just too amazing!) so she's spending most of her free time before the party in the spa to get ready. She can be found in the sauna, getting a massage, or stretched out in a robe with her hair in curlers while a small team of Smeargle paints her nails.

And it's all on the house. How much better can it get?]

B) BALLROOM
[She spends the evening leading up to midnight dancing and mingling, trying out the finger foods and checking out the architecture around the ballroom. The day of resting at the spa has paid off, and she's found herself a dress to wear as she wanders around the party.]

C) GARDEN OBSERVATORY
[Asami waits for midnight to hit out in the garden, away from the heat and noise of the dance floor. She's standing slightly away from the tables, arms folded and a glass of campaign in her hand. Apparently you're supposed to be 21 to drink in this world, but that just seems ridiculous. It's a new year. She thinks a little slack is in order.]

[Someone else wanders in soon enough, for much the same reasons as Asami. Komaeda was never especially good with large crowds, so try as he might've to stay in the ballroom, eventually it just got to be a little too much. He's dressed quite nicely, though the appeal of the suit is offset somewhat by his sickly appearance. He enters the observatory with a bottle of water in one hand, and an Emolga sitting on the other.]

[Asami looks up with a small smile when she's addressed.]

Hey there. Done with all the dancing?

More like... I never really started.

[A small laugh.]

I can't really blame you. It's pretty crowded in there.

I'm Asami, by the way.

Nagito Komaeda. A pleasure to meet you.

[He glances back into the ballroom.]

I don't know how some people do it, honestly.

I think it's a learned thing, for most.

[There's a bit of amusement in her voice.]

I've been going to events like this my whole life, and I still get sick of the crowds and the noise after a while.

C is for CUTEST, right?

[Korra dances a bit longer than Asami. Then again she also shows up to the dance floor a lot later than she probably did, so she probably also dances less than the other girl tonight anyway. But she walks to the garden, eventually, and who else would she want to spend a new year than her best friend from home? No one, that's who. So she walks to Asami as soon as she sees the taller girl.

... Wait, is she drinking? What is she drinking? Yeah, no, Korra is not going to scold her for it like some officer Jenny, she's honestly just extremely curious.]

[Asami smiles when Korra approaches.]

Don't know, yet. Someone just handed it to me on their way by.

[She holds out the champagne glass with a little grin.]

Give it a try?

[Korra would smile at her too, but she's kinda too curious about the drink.

Oh, so Asami hasn't even tasted it herself. Yet. Korra looks even more curious and maybe just a little bit unsure when best friend offers the glass to her.

She reaches out anyway and fearless girl as she is, takes a tiny sip. Frown. Another sip, this one's longer and she's grinning when she holds out the glass back to Asami.]

Hey, if you don't like it, I can drink the whole thing. Or go get one for myself too. [Korra please. No, she's not even completely serious about it, that might be just enough for her.]

But it's good, or at least I liked it.

[Asami takes the glass to take a small sip of her own.]

It's all right. I'm fine with sharing, but if you get your own, I'm not carrying you back to the room.

[She's obviously joking.]

[Obviously. So Korra just grins, amused by that.]

That's a thing we have in common. [one of the things anyway.] Well, I think the worst you'd have to hear after that and a glass of my own would be my endless giggling.

[But let's not test whether or not those sips + a glass would result in that.]

[She smirks as she extends the glass to Korra to offer her another sip.]

Really, though? You never struck me as the giggly type.

[Asami's having a giggle of her own, at that.]

[After talking to a few people she knew, Elsa's opened up a bit more during the evening, and is now going out of her way to approach people. Only people she's talked to before, but it's a start...!

So when she sees Asami, a smile crosses her face, and she approaches with Frigga in tow.]

I am going to assume that they ended up exchanging names at some point? haha

Elsa! It's good to meet you in person.

[Asami offers an honest smile and holds out her hand to offer a shake when Elsa approaches.]

That works!

I can say the same to you, Asami.

[Elsa's relaxed enough to not mind the casual contact, so she takes Asami's hand and shakes.] I wasn't sure who else was going to be coming to this party, so it's nice to see some familiar faces among the crowd.

I think a lot of people really jumped at the idea of seeing a new region. A change of scenery is good, especially for the people who have been here for so long.

[Asami not being among them, but she can understand the sentiment. She's a city girl, and even she's been getting a bit weary of Goldenrod.]

And what a change of scenery it is...

[Elsa looks almost wistful as she looks out a nearby window, at the glow of the city around them.]

It's just a shame that we can't leave this hotel. I'd give anything to go take a walk around this city.

Yeah, that... does seem a little weird. I wonder if they have weird laws about international visitors, or something.

[That's all that she can think of, but it sounds weird. The nations aren't particularly rigid about their borders, at home.]

[ladywithnovoice]

[Well, there's someone she hasn't seen in a while! Red approaches Asami on her own, smiling and gesturing to the dance floor. Why not celebrate seeing her again with a dance? Hey, it's what they're all there for.]

[Well, that and free food, but still.]

Hey!

[Asami smiles mildly upon seeing Red and immediately follows her out to the dance floor. Having a friend to be out there with is much better than dancing alone.]

[ladywithnovoice]

[Her thoughts exactly. As soon as they're in the thick of it, Red makes a gesture to the whole party before pointing to Asami. A bit of a vague way to ask if she's enjoying it, but her Gardevoir has wandered off again. The troubles of having a social pokemon that's so easily distracted.]

The party? It's pretty good.

[She takes a look around as she starts to get a feel for the slightly unfamiliar music.]

This is more like one of the events I would have gone to at home. I'm... still trying to figure out if I missed them, to be honest.

[At the very least, it's a great excuse to get dressed up.]

[That has her pause for a moment, brows drawing together in concern as she lays her hand gently onto one of Asami's shoulders.]

[Asami pauses as well, raising her eyebrows at Red's display of concern.]

Was it... something I said? [She decides to clarify.] I used to go to a lot of really formal, stuffy parties, back home. Part of the job. Everything's loosened up a lot, since I've been here.
