Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[After a bit, a young teenager with slightly unruly dreads is ushered next to Micchy while a Plusle and Minun pair hop happily near where Aki is to get their own fur brushed. Kirikou is batting away an attendant's hair.]

No- quit that, seriously, it's fine, just- nails, okay?

[And the kid clearly needs it. He's clean, because a good cook always keeps their hands clean, but he's also a bit of a fighter so... they could use some work. As he shifts in his seat uncomfortably, obviously new to the experience, he glances over at Micchy.]

Hey, sup.

[Micchy looks up and smiles brightly, trying to keep up a natural appearance despite the oddity of the situation.]

Hello. You haven't done this before, have you?

[Aki chitters away happily to her fellow electric types. Hi, how are you? This feels really nice!]

[It's the Minun who responds, chattering away as Ginga the Plusle hides behind her a bit. We're having so much fun! Kirik didn't want to come in but then he saw all the different Pokemon and this place is so big! It's nothing like Olivine!]

[In contrast, Kirikou just looks even more awkward.]

Something like that. It's not as bad as you're thinking. You'll be fine.

[He tries not to laugh. It's just really funny to see someone resisting something that's so... benign.]

[We were in Goldenrod and it's really big! But we don't leave it very much. Just to train!]

IF you say so. It just seems a little... Girly. Y'know?

[He is a teenage boy from a very silly teenage boy culture, okay?]

[We've been traveling around a lot and were in Goldenrod for a little bit! Kirik says we're going to get all the badges! Are you getting all the badges?]

There's nothing girly about wanting to take care of yourself. You shower and keep your nails cut - or at least I hope you do. It's not that much different.

[I dunno! We haven't gotten any yet. He says we're not ready.]

Yeah, but I do that all myself. Other people doing it for me... Not exactly a regular occurrence.

[Go after Falkner first! He's the easiest! We beat him no problem! What do you mean type advantage, ssshhh...]

They're professional. They know what they're doing better than most.

[I guess. Maybe Bugsy first, since Hotaru's a fire type!]

I guess so... Are you more used to it?

I am. My family was on the... wealthier side. So there was a lot of focus on looking presentable.

[She's a Vulpix! She's really nice!]

Oh... I guess that makes sense. I just lived with my parents in an apartment back in New York before I joined the Academy. I was too busy working after that.

[Oh boy, all the excited sparks. We have an Arcanine friend! His name is Leque!]

Ah. I'm from Japan. Zawame City, if you've heard of it.

[Ah! Most of the other Pokemon I'm with are nice! Except Rin. She's not very friendly... she's an Absol.]

Ah... Sorry, I'm... really bad at things like geography... [An awkward neck rub.] My friend Ox would probably have heard of it. He's a bit of a nerd like that but super smart, y'know the type, right?

[Cadeira gives a knowing nod. There are Pokemon like that. You can't let it bother you too much!]

It's okay. And... yeah. A lot of people at my school are like that.

[Aki just waves her tail from side to side. I know! She cares, I think. She's just bad at showing it.]

Oh, do you go to one of those really advanced schools?

[A wise nod. Our Kirik's friend is like that but she's really nice. She has lots of books.]

It's the top private school in the city, so... yes. There's either people who know a lot or who think that they do.

[Micchy can be like that too. They're a good fit.]

[So was Rin his starter then? Inquiring minds want to know!]

I did, but I had enough time to pursue my own interests.

[She was! It's funny because they both try to pretend they don't like each other.]

[Micchy looks faintly embarrassed... but, well. There's no one from home here. No one to judge him... he's living his own life. Mostly, at least.]

Mostly coordinated pop dancing. There were a lot of dance teams where I'm from. I was a member of one of them.

I... guess? I don't really have any of the music we were using. And it's been a little while.

[And he's not sure if he should, but... it's not like he's dancing with the others. They're not here. So it's not so bad.]
