Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

Hey, Maka. Any reason you dragged an egg to the party?

[She raises an eyebrow.]

Ha, it was the only date I could get.

[And she smiles back, obviously joking.]

I figured it'd be a healthy change from taking a book as a date instead.

[Okay but really. She knows you're not actually dating the egg, so why did you bother bringing it, girl?]

Doesn't it make dancing a little tricky, though?

I'm not much of a dancer.

[Said simply, as though it's the most obvious statement in the world.]

But my friend is, so he drags me around a lot. As long as I have the egg, I can take care of it and not be at risk for getting dragged onto the dance floor.

[A pause.]

...That sounds really dumb but it's not a lie.

"No" a thousand times, a couple of punches in the face--he just whines and insists that it's something even I could do. Boys are like that where I'm from, the unfortunate part is they can take a lot of punishment.

[Well that got dark rather fast.]

Besides, it's not just him, this weird guy named Joker always manages to find and bug me, too. I can tell them to leave me alone as much as I want, men just don't know how to take directions. They're too stupid.

Regardless, you're carrying around an egg at a party because that's your ticket out of dancing. If they're not going to listen to you, you're not worth their time.

Who knows, maybe the egg'll hatch into something intimidating, if they don't feel like taking me seriously.

[Her hellbeast dog is up in the hotel room looking after the other eggs.]

Ahhhh, it pisses me off, if men aren't being womanizing cheaters they're just being annoying idiots that screw around too much.

Really, though. You should stand up for yourself. If they tell you you're being a jerk, you tell them that it's only because they're being pushy and not respecting you.

Bro used to say things like that, too. Hearing it again is somewhat disheartening--it means she hasn't improved herself in that regard.

But at the same time, she worries that if she stands up for herself, pushes back against the pushy, they'll leave. Maka's just let things stay as they are because she doesn't want to be left behind.]

They'll lose interest eventually.

[...That's an awkward note to leave it on, so Maka takes out a Pokeball from the purse hanging off of her elbow and lets out a Sylveon. She then holds out the egg to the Eeveelution, who enthusiastically takes it with her strange little ribbons. It's awkward to talk to someone with your hands full, she knows that much with socializing anyway, Maka will now rest one arm at her side since her hands are free.]

At any rate, I did bring Cadence with me in case something happened. She kinda insisted on it.

[A touch of concern crosses Asami's face when Maka starts to seem... almost glum.]

Maybe. But some people will just keep pushing until you push back.

[She'll leave it at that, if Maka doesn't seem inclined to pursue further. Irritated as Asami is that she's putting up with it, she doesn't know Maka well enough to actually get involved beyond a few little words of advice.]

[And just to punctuate the embarrassment she already feels, Cadence snatches her purse away as well.]

[The Sylveon gives her Baby-Doll Eyes an innocent look in return.]

Even if I don't have people being pushy with me, I'll always have my Pokemon at least, yeesh.
