Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[The dance is certainly in full swing, which means all of the wallflowers have migrated to the walls to watch from there.

Hmm, isn't that Veronica over there, trying to meld with the wall?]

Jimmy sweeps over to where he sees Veronica standing, offering her his hand.]

Woooould you care to dance?~

[He tilts his head, smiling.]

Oh come on! A dance! It'll be fun!

[Sorry, Jimmy. Veronica is just having a really hard time processing all of this.]

You want me... to dance with you?

I'm... not a very good dancer. Just so you know.

Why not? I never said I was a super dancer either, but it's all in good fun anyway!

[He continues to offer his hand as he points up slightly with the other.]

This song isn't too fast or too slow, so it should be pretty easy to dance to.

It was time to throw caution to the wind and actually dance for once in her life. Veronica yielded and put her hand in Jimmy's.]

A-alright, sure. Let's go.

[And off he goes, walking until he reaches a fairly open spot on the dance floor. Jimmy was right; the song playing is upbeat but not unusually so, making it an easy one to dance to.]

[Following him, Veronica seems to shrink a little as they move through the crowd. The softer music did help to ease her discomfort.]

Hmm? Oh, yeah, absolutely! This place is amazing, don't you think? There's so much to do!

Oh man it totally is! I've been having such a good time, too! But I mostly like it cause we can see each other in person more easily this way, yaknow?

...Heh. Fran always wanted me to loosen up a little. Dancing was one of her suggestions.

[Jimmy grins, inclining his head to her before taking her by the hand and starting to lead. It's probably meant to appear polite or suave, even, but...let's be honest, it's nothing short of silly when Jimmy does it.]

Well before this is over, you're gonna be able to tell her you got to dance.

Mhmm. [She nodded as they started to dance, following Jimmy's lead for once, being as careful as she could. He honestly looked rather silly, but she was still relying on him to lead.] She tried to teach me a few times. Her lessons were...

[Strange and bloody.]

Weird. I thought that if I wanted to dance, then I'd just learn on my own.

...That's true. She'd be delighted.

Well you seem to be doing a pretty good job so far.

[He says, glancing down briefly to make sure the next step he takes won't land him on her foot, or something.]

[Yeah, she follows his gaze. Better that they both be careful then not.]

Uh, yeah! It's actually pretty fun. Thanks, Jimmy.

[...And then she steps on his foot.]

[He bites that back right quick by managing a smile instead, stepping to the side slightly.]

No prob, no prob! S'long as you're havin' fun, that's all that matters.

[She gasps, nearly bringing their entire dance to a halt.]

A-are you okay? I'm really sorry... I-I...

Oh no, I'm fine! Takes more than that to stop me!

[And in all actuality, if it did hurt he masks it rather well, taking Veronica by the hands and pulling her around. Looks like he's starting to speed up a bit, and that certainly isn't a slow song playing right now...]

Are you sure? I mean... [Geeze, Jimmy. Veronica looks just about ready to leave the dance floor and the party as a whole. ]

Dammit... [She muttered something under her breath as they continued to dance. At least she hasn't noticed the change in the speed, and is just following Jimmy's moves.]

[He tilts his head to the side, seeming not to have heard the curse, but he can definitely see that look on her face.]

You okay?

[She gulped, taking a deep breath.]

I just never danced... with anyone before.

[Jimmy's expression softens a bit as he tightens his grip on her hands in a way meant to be reassuring.]

It's okay. Just let me know if you wanna stop and we can.

[Slowly, Veronica's expression turned up into another smile.]

...Okay, Jimmy.
