Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

Kirikou-kun?

[Chihiro had been seated nearby sampling a few of the pastries himself (at least the ones that aren't inevitably eaten by Isamu, of course, when he hears Kirikou speak up.

It sounds like he likes it, but judging by the look on his face...]

Is something wrong with it?

Huh? [He looks around before spotting Chihiro.] Oh hey, it's great to see you!

And no, it's... it's great. [Buuuut there's the face again.] I was just thinking about my own cooking...

[Gotta get to know you more after all, especially if you'll be his traveling partner for a while.]

[...It feels like it would be rude to ask if the things here are better or worse than what he can make, so he thinks of something else.]

I didn't know you cooked.

Oh yeah, all the time. Everyone in my family practically cooks, and I had to do all my own cooking when I lived in Death City especially for Fire and Thunder, since they're way younger.

And since I've come here and there's no missions, I cook even more.

I see...and these pastries and chocolates are making you think about it?

Yeah. I always thought I was pretty good at cooking, but things are entirely different when you have good ingredients at your disposal...

Have you tried cooking much here, yet?

Yeah, all the time. But I'm a little limited in what I can get. I only make so much money, and Olivine is a pretty decent sized city, but... Well, you ever been to New York City?

Mm, no, I haven't. Why?

There are so many places to go there! [He seems to perk up a bit from before, leaning and gesture with his fingers spread wide.] From all over the world, all settling there! If you just explore, you can find the most awesome things, seriously! It's a cook's paradise if you ask me, when it comes to variety!

[But it's his hometown, so he's biased.]

I see...I've always wondered what it would be like to travel overseas.

[He'd wondered from time to time if his father would ever consider it if he could get some time off work...but, well. That's not exactly possible anymore.]

I have heard that it is a very large city, though. I can understand why you would call it that.

The Bronx. Okay? Like, if you only have time for a small area, definitely the Bronx!

[Chihiro tilts his head a bit to the side. Well, now he's curious.]

What is there to see at the Bronx?

Um, everything? I mean, everyone knows about the zoo, it has like a million animals- [Okay a slight exaggeration] -but if you want to go shopping? You want the Hub!

[He smiles, resting his hands on the table as he feels his Linoone brush past one of his feet. Come ooon, it's been like...five minutes since you've 'dropped' something, Chihiro.]

It sounds very exciting.

It's the best! And the music- you can find the birth of the best kind of music there! [Kirikou, you're biased.] I mean, all music is pretty awesome!

If we ever figure out how they do the world hopping thing, I'll totally take you there! You can meet my mama and papa!

[Chihiro's smile wavers just a little; not enough to go away, but just...falls a bit.]

I would...really like that.

[Yeah, he doesn't miss that. He's a lot more astute in person than on text.]

[Chihiro winces, glancing down. He's never been good at masking his emotions, so that was to be expected.]

Oh...no. I'm sorry. It's just...I would be surprised if they ever did find a way to let us visit other worlds.

We'll figure out a way to make it happen! Even if something seems impossible, you can let yourself be intimidated by it! It's that same hesitation and feeling of defeat that's half the reason why things end up failing!

People probably told them they couldn't make a monster movie sorta situation, but then all that weird crap happened! I mean, they were dumb otherwise, but at least in that, they might've known what they were doing!

Hmmm...that is true, I suppose...though in that case, I'm glad that they didn't succeed...you know?

Well, yeah, they're freakin' dumbasses. But I'm saying if nerds and losers like them can do something like that, the rest of us can definitely do way better, right?

I would hope so. It's a bit of a stretch...but you're probably right. It would...be incredible if they could find a way to send people home freely, or...to wherever they wanted to go.

[Though somehow that sounds like it could be really bad in the wrong hands...]
