Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[Wallflowering. Beast has been wallflowering hard.

She's never been good with this many people when she wasn't actually in the big ring, though after her little sabbatical she's gotten a bit better about this place. But. But. Beast is nothing if not stubborn.

Though for this event, she's made an effort. Donned a certain blue dress and done her hair differently- though honestly, she almost couldn't recognize herself, and that was odd.

So when Joker makes the offer, she just. Blinks at him a moment, surprised, before instincts take over.]

[There's a wink and really shouldn't she have expected this by now? She knows him, after all. Always a tease and always one to make sure that people are entertained. Considering they're not in the ring as performers, this now includes her.]

It's not a party without a little dancin', is it?

[She knows him, and that's the problem. It's a huge part of the problem. Contributing other factors to the problem being wearing a dress he'd given her and been quite cagey about "why" beyond something about never seeing her in anything but black and red, this being a right swanky place, somewhere they'd certainly never have been able to come within yards of back in their world-

Not a single gent would want ta dance with such a pretty lady waitin' in the wings? Must be blind, the lot a them.

A blind man would be a proper partner, with 'ow I likely turn out on a dance floor.

[The pursed lips give away that she's. Just being a bit dramatic and stubborn, but. Her only dance practice has been in the second tier tents.]

Then what do ya think that says about me, can't half dance proper like I am now, heh. Think we'd make a fitting enough pair!

[That isn't to say he thinks he's... too horrible, but he certainly doesn't make it easy on his partners sometimes, he thinks.]

[There's a long, long moment when she just. Stares at his hand. And maybe looks... a little guilty.

But now isn't the time or the place. Her lips purse a bit more, before she finally gives a sigh. A pink-cheeked sigh.]

If that's the case, maybe 'tween the two of us we could manage a decent turn out, then.

[That makes him brighten up, and he starts to lead her out onto the dancefloor.]

Ain't that hard, so long as no one steps on anyone's toes, I think!

[He's- sort of gotten the hang of it, ever since prom. At the very least, he's confident enough that since they're graceful enough in performance, they can manage to avoid toe stamping at least.]

[He tries to slip into a proper dancing position, mostly looking around so that he can copy from other people.]

[The laugh helps. Beast shoots a look at... people who seem to be competently dancing, before putting her other hand on Joker's shoulder. That should be right.]

This is a little different from the good ol' second tier dance 'all.

[Muttered under her breath, but.]

[They're probably alright, he thinks. At least, they're no more horrible than some of the folks he's seen, so that's something. He shifts his grip in her hand appropriately after a bit more copying.]

Good thing we can say "we're from another country" as an excuse if we turn out bad, eh?

Just a performance that is harder because of who she is dancing with.]

[But he seems to be taking it all in good humor, glancing around only occasionally to make sure they don't bump into anyone. He has more confidence in their feet than to think that she'll step on his or him on hers.]
