Why Don't You Go Where Fashion Sits?

Who: Participants of the Kalosmas New Year's Event!
Where: The Hotel Richissime, in scenic Lumiose City, Kalos!
When: Wednesday, December 31 - Thursday, January 1!
Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!
Rating: PG in general; please mark threads that go higher accordingly!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[Twilight is mostly admiring the skyline and the truly beautiful architecture in the room when she walks by.]

This place is a match for Canterlot... Oh! [Her eyes turn to him and she warmly smiles.] Sir El-Melloi! I knew you'd be here some-

[She pauses a moment as she takes in his body language. She's not the best at reading it, but the way he's hunched and glowering out the window spells out the obvious even to her.]

Where. [Her voice shifts from excited to concerned, with an attempt at calm.] What's wrong?
enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2015-01-03 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's a match for something, alright.

[...he sighs a bit, because really, he shouldn't be this irritated, but...]

Have you ever encountered something here that reminded you of something from home, except it's maddeningly, frustratingly wrong?
friendyousohard: (That is NOT scientifically accurate.)

[personal profile] friendyousohard 2015-01-04 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
You mean aside from Ponyta and Rapidash?

[She can't help but roll her eyes a little.]

I'm not entirely certain I'd use the word "wrong", but a lot of things do seem familiar, but with slight differences here and there... or drastic ones. I assume you just saw one of the latter?
enjoymyatelier: it totally was. (that wasn't awkward at all nope)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2015-01-04 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
...oh, yes.

[...he clears his throat a bit.]

...well, to be entirely fair, there are Pokemon that look offputtingly human but not as well, like Mr. Mime. Those... are horrifying, frankly.

But anyway, this city is very much like one from my world... yet it isn't. There's a lot of similarities in the skyline, like that Prism Tower, but it's really just off in a ways that bother me.
friendyousohard: (You lost me.)

[personal profile] friendyousohard 2015-01-05 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
I... had almost forgotten about Mr. Mime.

[She's not exactly happy to remember it.]

It's that close? And... so none of the ones in Kanto or Johto were all that similar in comparison, right?
enjoymyatelier: cue the red exclamation point over kiritsugu's head (jiiiiiiii...)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2015-01-12 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
...let's all just go back to forgetting about it, then, because I really don't want to remember.

[it haunts his nightmares]

Well... I suppose it's more an issue of familiarity, really. I'm far less familiar with Kanto and Johto's equivalents than I am with France, so I can't say I would have noticed the similarities enough for them to bother me.
friendyousohard: (That is NOT scientifically accurate.)

[personal profile] friendyousohard 2015-01-12 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I suppose that makes sense...

[She pauses a little, then adds hesitantly:]

Out of curiosity, do you know how the trip for us to get here from Johto and Kanto matches up to the flight distance between the corresponding locations in your world?
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2015-01-17 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
...you know, I... was actually sleeping most of the way, so I actually can't say I'm that sure. I suppose it was roughly the same? But then, I've never taken a nonstop flight from Paris to Tokyo, either. I imagine it wouldn't be that different than the flight time from Heathrow to Fuyuki, which was about... twelve hours, I'd say?
friendyousohard: (My hair static requires further study)

[personal profile] friendyousohard 2015-01-19 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm really starting to want to compare an atlas of your world with this one. I'm starting to think the results would be interesting.

And probably confusing.

I'm not sure what use the resulting data would be, though.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2015-01-25 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Most likely very confusing, but I agree with you for curiosity's sake. Admittedly, some inconsistencies could be explained by the presence of enormous legendary beings that purportedly moved and shaped continents...
friendyousohard: (That is NOT scientifically accurate.)

[personal profile] friendyousohard 2015-01-26 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly what would amaze me would be if there was any similarities at all. It would raise... well, most of the things we find out in this world raise questions, but this one would almost raise more than any of the other things I've seen.
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2015-01-31 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if it would, honestly, given the theory of infinite parallel worlds. If there truly is an unlimited number of variations on a theme, then you could easily have "your world, but everything's also ridiculous and has been influenced by the presence of strange, magical animals."
friendyousohard: (Glasses: 20% more nerdy)

[personal profile] friendyousohard 2015-02-02 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough. Of course if we go by that logic, maybe we're all from the same world and all of our universes just have very, very different paths that led us to where we are now.
enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2015-02-08 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I do think that's the theory behind it... all worlds are parallel, and the differences range from "barely distinguishable" to "an absolute paradigm shift."

I really don't know if there's much theory as to parallel worlds influencing each other, though.
friendyousohard: (That is NOT scientifically accurate.)

[personal profile] friendyousohard 2015-02-09 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
Well, given how rare it must be to be able to cross over into alternate dimensions, I imagine there wouldn't be. It's probably even more difficult than space travel. Breaking the gravitational field of a planet is one thing, but transcending the planes of existence is another.
