Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[Ilya's eyes rise from her book and she chuckles a little, putting a bookmark in to save her place and rising to walk over to the bed. She sits down and drapes an arm over Kairi, leaning to better talk to her.]

About done for the day, are we?

[Kairi gives a muffled huff in response. She's played, danced, and just plain partied herself to exhaustion.]

[Ilya starts stroking Kairi's hair idly... then stops after a moment. She wrinkles her nose and delivers an absolute verdict.]

You, my friend, need a shower.

[She picks her head up.]

Can you take one for me? I can't get up.

I already took mine. Honestly, Kairi, did you expect me to dance that much and not clean myself up afterwards? I have more class than that.

[Wait, she may have just implied Kairi doesn't have class. She immediately feels guilty.]

Not that... You don't, of course. But you can't sleep like that no matter how tired you are.

Hnng.

[She gives a sort of half-whine, half-moan, pushing herself up onto her elbows.]

Right now I could sleep on the floor and not have a problem with it.

[Still, she'll do her best to roll back onto her feet and make her way to the bathroom.]

You'll regret it in the morning if you do that, though.

[Aphrodite is already moving into a position to help, pressing herself into Kairi's leg from the side and letting her lean on her body. Ilya goes to the other side, taking Kairi's other hand gently.]

[She smiles at Ilya, and mentally notes to gives Aphrodite lots of affection in the morning.]

Thanks. I'll just take a quick shower, then we can hang out, okay?

[Just trying to placate her friend. Really, she had no problem falling asleep as she is, but if her smell is that much of an issue then she guesses she has no choice.]

I'll sit outside the door and make sure no one barges in on you. Just don't fall asleep in the shower.

[Ilya would insist up and down she's doing this for Kairi's own good. Waking up sweaty and sticky is not a fun experience.]

[And shower she does; about fifteen minutes of bathing, interspersed with a few minutes of trying not to fall asleep. Once done, she calls out.]

Hey, Ilya? Can you grab me some clean clothes?

Your nightgown's already laid out! It's hanging outside the bathroom door.

[And if that confuses Kairi, it's because the nightgown in question is something Ilya brought along for her. It's long and red, a thin, breezy thing and soft as kitten fur.]

Nightgown?

[That dress-looking thing on the door? She's never had one of those before. Pajama pants and a t-shirt always got the job done good enough. Still, if Ilya likes it, then she should at least give it a shot.

Once dressed, she limps her way back into the bedroom.]

So, uh, how do I look?

[Ilya's grin is huge as she sees Kairi in the gown.]

Lovely! I knew it would suit you.

[Reclining on the bed, she pats the side next to her.]

Come, I'm sure you're eager to lie down... where's Xion, by the way?

[She's quick to lie down next to her friend.]

Probably with Riku or Sora. We split up at the ball and I haven't seen her since.

I may have to go track her down if she takes too long getting back... she might forget she needs to sleep until it's too late otherwise.

[But she can worry about that later. For now she's more than happy to just lie next to Kairi.]

So are you feeling better now?

Much better.

[Totally not watching her eyelids droop nope.]

I never knew balls were so much fun. They always seemed so stuffy and formal.

Oh it's almost entirely based on who's there with you. A friend or two can make the entire evening.

Then I'm glad I have my best friends with me.

[She's not usually so sappy, but she's too tired to be witty right now.]

[She squirms a little closer, the better to put an arm around her.]

[Oh, hi Ilya. Kairi rolls onto her side and sets her head in her lap.]

I guess it's kind of bad, for a princess to not like balls and stuff.

Mmmm, you could ask Saber about it, but I think that's actually more common than you might think. Balls are usually about social ladder climbing and such, which is something a princess doesn't really need to worry about most of the time.

[Now, Disney princesses... actually most of them would probably find a ball really boring too. It's mostly just Cinderella who liked it.]

[Oh good, she's normal after all.]

I've just never liked big dresses or acting all snooty. I don't want to be treated special.

[Which is one of the things she likes most about Riku and Sora. She was just part of the gang. Though, she was not immune to being sheltered and protected by them either. Those dorks.]

Oh but you are special. I don't really think it has anything to do with you being a princess though.
