So Make A Wish On Heaven
Who: Participants of the Dream Plot!
Where: In your dreams!
When: Anytime your character is asleep on April 17th!
Summary: As promised, this is a catch-all log where people can post a character's dream as a top-level comment and allow other holders of our Mysterious Feathers™ to come visit them! Remember that the content of your dream is entirely up to your discretion, but we ask that you only have one, and to please also warn for content as needed!
Rating: PG, and please warn for threads that may go higher!
Log:
[Under the light of the full moon, the Mysterious Feathers™ begin to glow.
In the hours that follow after they sprawl out to sleep, those who had the good fortune (or at least the insatiable curiosity) to pick up one of those feathers earlier in the week will come to discover that something very strange is happening across the regions of Johto and Kanto. There's a saying about what happens when you let your mind wander; this time, though, it's a little more than just one's mind that's going wandering, as dream after dream stretches out before you like a horizon just begging to be chased.
Don't worry about getting lost, dreamers; as real and vivid as they may seem, your surroundings are really only visions and illusions, and in the end the failsafe way to escape from them is to simply wake up. If and when you do, you might feel perfectly well-rested or as on-edge as if you'd just jolted awake from a nightmare; like the dreams themselves, there's really no telling how the experience will play out for you, being different and unique to everyone.
But for now, you've got the whole night ahead of you, filled with places to go and people to see. Might as well make the most of it while it lasts...]

He watches for a long time, debating what he should do. He's not caught in the dream-logic that keeps him from realizing what's going on, but it doesn't seem like Envy's caught on yet. And a dream like this...he almost feels bad that his first urge is to just shove Envy off the cliff.
But he won't. So for now, Alphonse waits until his half-brother realizes he's there.

He doesn't move a whole lot while Al watches, except sometimes to shift forward as though he wants to jump, and then stops himself at the last moment. The chains around his legs seem to tighten and drag whenever he does. He never takes his eyes off of that trapeze.
But what does happen is a wary Zoroark jumping up to crouch on one of those cracked stone heads, not far from where Alphonse is standing. She bares her teeth at him, growling lowly, but the aggression seems more born out of confusion than anything else.
no subject
Al steps back with a startled and echoing clank when the Zoroark appears, and holds his hands up in front of him. "Hey, easy there! I don't mean any harm, I promise."
no subject
The noise finally gets Envy's attention though, and he turns to look back. His expression is getting more alert, but he's not quite there yet.
But he does recognize Al, and narrows his eyes.
"What are you doing here?"
no subject
"I don't know, I just showed up." Alphonse stays where he is, suspecting that the dream won't let Envy too far away from where he's standing right now. "Why haven't you broken those chains already?"
no subject
"I tried already."
He hates admitting it, but it's better than being thought of as too stupid to have tried. He yanks one leg forward, and the chain goes taut in the air. He's putting all of his homunculus strength into it, but it doesn't even look like it's straining the links.
The chain goes right by Al, and disappears into the shadowier parts of the ruins, where the Gate's children cluster around it, staring at both Al and Envy. Envy puts his foot back down on the ground, and turns to glare out at the rest of the cavern, crossing his arms tightly enough that his shoulders hunch a little.
"So go ahead and fucking gloat."
no subject
"Why would I gloat?"
So he can't do it on his own, then...or maybe he hadn't tried in the right way. Dreams aren't exactly something he'd studied up on, it was all guesswork to figure out what needed to be done. He shifts again, crossing his arms and debating with himself before he speaks again.
"If I come over there, are you gonna hurt me?"
no subject
It's much harder to hide what you're feeling in a dream. Envy's voice is full of bitterness and defensive embarrassment. He's in a position of weakness and there's nothing he can do about it. He HATES that. And he still won't look at Al.
At least, not until he asks that question.
Then he looks up, confusion and wariness entering his voice, "Why come over here?"
The idea that Alphonse Elric might intend to help him doesn't cross his mind. If Envy were in Al's position, he wouldn't help himself.
no subject
"Because I have an idea and it'd be nice to not deal with you punching holes in me while I try."
It wouldn't hurt, but he'd rather not have to deal with an arm falling off because Envy knocked out the joints in his shoulder or something.
no subject
He crosses his arms, frowning because he really doesn't know what else to do with his face but he doesn't want to look GRATEFUL.
"Fine, come over here then. I won't punch any holes in you."
no subject
Al walks over, more slowly once he gets closer to Envy, and kneels down to inspect the shackles. He lifts the chains and feels out their chemical structure, looking back into the darkness they come from. They seem normal enough, but here that doesn't mean much...
"Hold still." He puts his hands to the cuffs and starts the transmutation, very firmly limiting the destructive surge to the chains alone.
no subject
"I plan to."
And he does. It's a blessing that Envy is so familiar with alchemy. Even in his dreams, it works the way it's supposed to.
So the destructive alchemy succeeds, disintegrating the shackles and the chains attached to them. Cautiously, Envy takes a step back, but the severed ends don't move to grab him again. At least not right then.
AND NOW HE'S...really not sure what to say to or do about Al. He'd thank just about anyone else, but...
Welp.
no subject
"...so are you gonna take the jump?"
no subject
THIS IS SO AWKWARD. And so far outside the realm of their normal interactions that Envy really just has no idea what to do about it.
The jump, though, is something he can focus on. He wants to take it, and honestly the threat of sticking around here in indefinite awkwardtime with Alphonse is just about the best prompt to go for it he could have. Falling down the waterfall could not possibly be worse.
So he turns, gauging the distance for a moment before backing away from the edge. He takes a running start and leaps...and it seems he's got his homunculus strength after all, because he makes it and grabs the bar with both hands. Off into the mist he goes, and the trapeze doesn't come back.
The Zoroark gives a satisfied little nod and pads over to Al, nudging his hand with her nose. THANKS FOR HELPING HER TRAINER, WEIRD STEEL-TYPE HUMAN(?).

Al watches Envy go in silence, nodding to himself when Envy makes that jump. When the Zoroark comes over he chuckles and pats her head.
"Well, I couldn't just leave him there like that. Are you gonna go keep an eye on him?"
