You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

[It'd be pretty hard to miss the shaking ground even if Clover wasn't meandering about nearby already. She'd tried the test your strength game earlier and performed...okayish, but this is pretty close to the coolest thing she's ever seen.]

Hey! Hey, that was amazing!

[What was? Where? It's that split second of confusion that ends up leaving Maka looking genuinely surprised at being spoken to. Usually she wouldn't think anything of having just smashed the test your strength, but then came a witness.

This is awkward.]

...Th-thanks. It's not a big deal, really, this game's just the only one I'm good at.

You're great at it, though! Seriously, I don't think I know anyone strong enough to pull that off—maybe one guy, but he's like, seven times your size, so that was way cooler!

[All right, Maka, don't make this awkward by being overly modest. Never mind the blushing and the awkwardness already presented, this can still be salvaged!]

Uhhh--do-do you want me to win one for you? I mean, while I'm here anyway.

[The poor game runner. Clover's face absolutely lights up.]

You'd do that?! That'd be amazing! [Any and all awkwardness is completely ignored in favor of Maka officially being the absolute coolest; Clover has decided.]

'Course, I don't mind.

[If being unreasonably nice to people she doesn't know is cool anyway, but Clover seems friendly so there's no reason to not match the mood.]

Hey, Mister? [She's addressing the carnie now.] I'm going to try again for the lady here, okay?

[He looks too appalled to agree or disagree and just ducks down behind the booth again.]

[Clover briefly glances over the unfortunate carnie to take note of the plush prize options, and upon deciding that there's an appropriate amount of pink among the available selection, turns her attention back to Maka with an eager grin.]

Go get 'em!

[CLANG!

Maka's concentration was split from talking to hammering for a second, but that's okay, it results in the same as before when Clover approached her--a tremor and the carnie questioning how he got to this point in life.

Maka does not have any of this existential questions in mind, she just turns back casually.]

Got 'em, I think that means it's okay for you to get a prize.

[Clover cheers and, once the ground is done shaking, she even jumps up in place, delighted.] That was great! Oh, right— [She leans over the edge of the counter for maximum carnie-hassling.] Hey, the pink cat, please! [The Skitty. Does Clover ever intend to refer to Pokémon by their actual name? Probably not.

She tucks the doll under her arm and goes right back to grinning at Maka.] Thanks, you're the best! Seriously, that was so awesome!

[soundmind]

[Augh, what is all this praise, so weird.] Aw, it's not a big deal, just take good care of that Skitty and don't let your Pokemon chew on it.

[Assuming she has Pokemon, good job Maka. At least now that she's double-won the game, Maka can put back the hammer so someone else can have a go.]

I don't know if I've seen you around here before. [Hair that vividly colored is hard to miss, anyway, it's like if her father was a teenage girl and decided pink highlights was where it's at.] My name's Maka, what about you?

My shark dinosaur tries to get her jaws on this and she's gonna be grounded in her Pokéball forever. [Her Gible. Pokémon don't have actual names, nope.]

I don't think so. It's a big city, and I haven't really gone any farther out than Goldenrod anyway. But I'm Clover! [After a moment of considering how properly polite she ought to be, she shifts the Skitty doll under her arm so she can hold out her hand to shake. It's not gonna hurt, anyway.] It's really nice to meet you!

[Clover will get a firm shake back! Maka can be a little socially awkward, but hand-shaking is something she's very used to.]

Nice to meet you, too! It's always good to see another girl around here, seems like there's way more guys than should be humanly possible sometimes.

[For some people that's not a bad thing, but for Maka it's super exhausting.]

I live over in Olivine myself, I liked the atmosphere there and I gotta admit, I've always wanted to live by a beach.
