You know what's better than a regular birthday? The birthday of a circus.




Throughout the streets of Goldenrod, folks will find all sorts of colorful characters and Pokemon about. Fliers and the like have been regular eve since the Circus started up a year ago, but the advertising is in full force today just to make it EXTRA apparent that today is the day. Another hint is all the air traffic in the skies- various Flying-type Pokemon that make up the Circus' transportation service. Who knows? Maybe you're one of those using it today!

And of course, who can miss the colorful spectacle that is the circus itself? Past the entrance gate (which will let you onto the circus grounds for a miniscule fee) are dozens and dozens of stalls and little tents. Looming over them is the main tent itself, a monstrosity of bright welcoming colors. There are all sorts of things amongst their ranks, but it's generally fairly easy to find what you're looking for as Pidgey of a feather flock together and all that... From games of all sorts like the usual carnival games to more of a retro arcade, to a set of shops with local crafts and maybe something from the foreign trainers.... Of course, there's also all sorts of food stalls and even shacks for more filling stuff.

There's even a Litleo hunt going on today! Catch one, win a prize!

With all that alone, you could probably keep busy for most of the day! But surely you aren't forgetting the Big Act?

Yep, the big acts in the Big Top. Times are posted both at the front gate, on fliers you can pick up here and there, and by the entrance to the large tent. For each day, there will be three shows! Better hope you can snag a ticket before they get sold out... Although maybe you'll get lucky for the next show. Or the next day....

Either way, it promises to be a fun weekend!

[Roxas had listened to the song along with the others after having been picked up. All that was really mentioned that stuck with him was the word circus. Oh, and Naminé. He had wanted to stick closer to her, but it was hard with the other girls around. So he had gone off on his own long enough before coming back to hear the singing.

Roxas rubs the back of his neck as his Swablu trilled the notes of the song she had just heard. Should he talk to this girl?]

[The sound of the song she'd just been singing wafting past her ears, Ilya turns to the source and blinks in surprise at the young man whose hair rivals even Sora's for sheer messiness.

Actually... he looks a lot like Sora, in the way that Namine looks like Kairi. Ilya raises one eyebrow. How odd. She calls out to him conversationally.]

You look lost. This place is for staff only, you know. Did you come in with someone?

[Roxas looks up and nods. Sky just looks happy to be addressed. She'll keep singing the song softly as these two humans converse if you don't mind.]

Yeah. I came in with Naminé and the others. You're Ilya, right? Naminé said you were a friend of hers.

Ah, you're Namine's, are you? Well, you're right, I am Ilya. And you must be...

[She pauses a moment to think it over, trying to remember the name.]

Roxas. That was it. Come sit with me, Roxas. I'm always glad to meet a friend of my friends.

[Oh, Naminé talked about him? He's happy about that.

He nods at Ilya and sits by her. It would be good to get to know someone he'd be traveling with.]

You're really good at singing.

[dressofheaven]

Indeed I am. I've been practicing for quite some time. I offered to teach Namine and Kairi, you know, but neither of them have ever taken me up on it.

[She sips her drink a little and rubs Harpy on the head.]

Your little one seems particularly enamored with my song. A Swablu... those seem very common with people from your world.

[Both Roxas and Sky warily look at Harpy. She looks like a dinosaur.]

Really? I know Sora started with one. I'm happy I have Sky.

[dressofheaven]

[That's not exactly wrong of them either, though pterodactyls aren't technically dinosaurs. Ilya wouldn't know to correct them on the subject anyway. And she's just kind of pleased at the obvious nervousness that shows on their faces. She likes being intimidating and having Pokemon who are the same.]

Xion has one as well. At this point I expect you'll all have one sooner or later, though personally I won't be taking one. They're not my aesthetic.

[They are far from intimidated by Ilya. Just the prehistoric teeth monster with wings.

He doesn't know what an aesthetic is. He'll just nod.]

Do you think Naminé would like one?

[dressofheaven]

[That's okay. They'll learn who the real one to fear is soon enough.]

Oh I'm sure she'd find it adorable, but why limit yourself? We already have so many of these ones, and there are over six hundred others to look through. Be creative! Find something new, maybe something she hasn't seen before!

[True... he thinks to himself and nods.]

I'm gonna catch every flying type there is! And then she can see all of those!

[dressofheaven]

[She laughs, amused at his determination but also kind of charmed.]

Now that's a goal. Falkner would encourage you.

Falkner?

[Should he know that name?]

The first gym leader in Johto. He trains flying types exclusively. It was pretty effortless for me to beat him with a weakness like that, actually.

Are all of his Pokémon flying types? I don't have anything that can use electric attacks yet.

[dressofheaven]

What about ice, or rock? Fliers don't like those either.

I don't have any of that, either. I have a Swablu, Pidgey, and a Hoothoot... otherwise I have eggs!

My, my, you are a new one aren't you? Well, that's fine. I'd suggest going for a rock-type. There are a lot of them around, so it shouldn't be hard to find one you like, and they're strong against normal attacks as well as flying. Electric and ice types can't boast that, and it'll be useful against Falkner.

[That means catching something that's not a bird.]

Are there ice or rock types that are flying types as well? When I was in Kanto, I was gonna go catch an Emolga. I was told by a really nice guy that Emolga are electric-flying.

[Ilya responds by pointing at Harpy.]

She's rock and flying. Much more powerful than an Emolga too, though admittedly quite a bit harder to find.

[One day he'll want something like Harpy, but now is not it.]

How did you get her?

[dressofheaven]

[His loss!]

I bought her from a breeder friend of mine, Aradia. Unfortunately she's not with us anymore.

So there's no one else here that breeds what she is?

[Would there be an egg? Should he even think about this?]

Oh I'm sure there are, I just don't know who.

Of course, I could see if Harpy herself is interested... If nothing else I'm sure Riku has a few Pokemon she'd be compatible with.

[That has him suddenly very, very curious.]

Would she have eggs? Since she's a flying type?
