Not quite noticing that she'd even approached (maybe he couldn't hear her over the music, who knew?) until she greeted him, he glanced up suddenly and straightened up with a wide grin.

She's safe, he thought suddenly -- stating the obvious to himself, perhaps out of reassurance. She was safe without him. This proved it, right? At least a little? He stood and walked right up to her, wrapping his arms around her in a bear hug. Finally, some alone time...
