Who:
sociusia and
guitarnero
Where: Cherrygrove city
When: Evening of the 22nd.
Summary: Nero and Kyrie finally get that kiss...or do they?
Rating: PG-13 for Nero's potty mouth and eye-rolling pda.
Log:
He felt sick. He couldn't even remember the last time he'd felt sick. Kyrie had always been the one to fall ill, of the three of them; Credo and Nero would fuss, and in a few days she'd be back up, tending to the laundry and cooking (thankfully) as if nothing had ever happened. But for Nero, who didn't even have a conscious memory of getting a childhood cold, the stuffiness in his head and his nose was a new sensation. Intellectually, he knew it was the result of so much traveling, at such a brutal pace, and frequently forgetting to eat. He hardly let a stuffed-up nose stop him, though; the prize at the end of this journey was too important for that, as much as Tiger kept telling him to slow down.
So he forged ahead, single-minded. He'd called her periodically over the last few days, purely for the pleasure of hearing her voice. He kept fretting that if he wasn't fast enough, didn't get there quick enough, she'd just disappear and leave him alone again. It kept him moving, even when his legs felt stiffer than usual and his throat was dry and his nose red from sniffing. He'd gotten lucky with the weather, he supposed; no rain, though he didn't expect it to hold. As it was, the sun had just set when he saw Cherrygrove's lights on the horizon, nearing the town's western entrance. He broke into a run, hoping to find her on the main street as they'd agreed.

No, no, not even this mun can be that mean. In the middle of the street by herself (the night was a bit too chilled to stay out) was one Kyrie. Currently she stood with her head up towards the sky. It was her intention to count the stars up above, but with the lights of the city, it seems her plans of entertainment were foiled.
Well, he wasn't going to keep her waiting for long. If he said by this eve, then certainly he meant it. Nero wasn't the type to make false promises. ]

Nero spotted her at a distance--you could say his Kyrie senses tingled, or perhaps it was just the raging head cold--and bolted over, heavy boots thudding against Cheerygrove's beaten street. Just the sight of her, safe, hale and healthy, auburn hair silvery under the moon, skin white as milk, in the same dress he'd left her in, made his heart leap in his chest.
It was enough to carry him all the way to her, his jog slowing to a walk as he approached her, head inclined, his body curved as if anticipating her in his arms. A tiny, quiet smile danced on his face. ]
Long time no see.

Before she can even entertain the thought of rushing out to greet him, he takes the initiative by darting at her. Well, at least she has a small window of time in which to wrap her arms around his frame, drawing herself in near. ]
Nero. [ 'He's cold.' ] It truly is you. For a moment I thought perhaps I had grown touched in the head and that I was really alone here.

As soon as she connects with his chest he wraps his arms around her shoulders, his right hand rising to her hair. It evokes a small wonder in him, since his armored claw had far less feeling than the other hand. He takes the time to run his fingers through her silky locks, pressing his cheek to the crown of her head and just enjoying the scent, the sight, the feel of her against him. She's warmer than he recalls for some reason, but maybe that's because he's cold--and to be fair, when his demon arm had been active it had been more or less a living furnace, keeping him warm even in the bleak cold Bael had made for him. ]
If you're going crazy, then so am I. [ A tiny, satisfied sigh into her hair. ] I could get used to losing my marbles.

No, I can't permit that. [ Her breathing may have grown heavier in his embrace - quite the contradiction with how relaxed her body was against him. It may be her subtle attempt to force warmth into his body, tilting her head to rest her face closer to his neck.
It's still as soft as she last remembers. Thank the heavens for if she ever forgot such a thing, she may never be able to forgive herself. ]
Someone has to keep you out of trouble after all.

Nero is of the opinion that any event involving Kyrie's throat is a pleasant experience--/shot ]You do a great job with that, miss 'throws-herself-in-front-of-demons'. Who's keeping who out of trouble, huh?
[ He's smiling, though, as he plants a kiss to her temple, just within reach. He's noticing that quickened breathing, and if anything, it gives him the wrong idea, because he reaches up to cup her cheek, tilting her face to his gently. ]
Didn't we have something on hold?

Every now and again you need just a bit of motivation. Can you really blame me for my ways?
[ Even if his words sting just a bit, she masks it with another tease. It was the only way to keep herself on even ground when he was like this. ]
We did. [ There's not an ounce of resistance to be found. ] It's rather poor taste to keep a lady waiting for this long, don't you think?

[ Nero smirks a bit at that, not feeling the need to speak, just thumbing her cheek before leaning in and--turning his head away to sneeze into the crook of his elbow. There's a moment's awkward pause, a sniffle, then another sneeze.
His face goes from mild surprise to black anger in the space of an instant, like a thundercloud rolling over his eyes. ]
You have got to be kidding me.
[ LOLNOPE WELCOME TO HUMANITY NERO. ATCHOO. ]

You rushed here, didn't you? [ She's trying to contain the 'Told you so' part of her tone, but it's not well veiled. ] In this cold weather and everything..
[ Well, it can't be helped at this point. ]
Let's get you inside where it's nice and warm. [ IS THAT DISAPPOINTMENT? Nope, cause Kyrie is the BEST GIRLFRIEND OF ALL TIME. ] Come on now.
[ Suddenly there's strength in her arms as she tries to lead him with her towards wherever it is people sleep here. An inn? Hotel? Something of that sort. ]

Let's head to the center--[ another sneeze. ] --they'll have medicine, and I need to pick up a delivery. [ Sniff.
She doesn't need to be disappointed for him to be disappointed. But like hell he's going to give her whatever he's caught. He lets himself be led along, his hand sliding down to twine their fingers together, apologetic. ]

Okay, so she's been at an inn. Money is getting tight though, so she maay have been volunteering here or there for some. It's a sad life, being so nice and having to work. ]
Right. [ Gently squeezing his hand to silently let him know 'It's alright, Nero.' as the pair walk. ] A delivery?

I ordered an egg. And before you say anything--I still have money left over for sleep and food for both of us. [ He worked hard while he was in Violet! ]
no subject
[ Oh, she's seen a couple of people talking about eggs before. She can't imagine why anyone would want more than one of these creatures.. That may be due to how spoiled she is by having a Mawile that's intimidating. ]
You are going to replace your other one..?

Nah, Buster's kind of useless, but not that useless. [ Okay, so he has a tiny soft spot for the lizard, sue him. ] The point is, you can have up to six of them, and they work together. Besides, this one's gonna be strong. Maybe Buster can take some notes.
no subject
[ Don't be so mean to Buster, Nero! ]
Six of them and they can work together? [ Musing over a thought, she decides to go ahead and speak her mind. ] You can barely take care of yourself, much less Buster, and now you want to take in another? I didn't know you were the type to be so soft towards cute things.
[ Aw, but he's so nice to her already! ]
I wonder what other kinds there are.
