insert depressing song lyrics here
Who: Clive Dove (
vengefulyears) and Hershel Layton (
puzzling)
Where: Goldenrod City, hotel lobby
When: February 20th
Summary: Layton catches Clive moping around about Clover's disappearance and tries to cheer him up.
Rating: G
Log:
[Clive sure wasn't expecting to wake up this morning to a letter from Clover basically announcing that she was leaving Johto. He had even called her the moment after he read the letter, and sure enough, her PokéGear number is no longer registered. It came as a complete surprise to him. He didn't even know the girl for that long, but he was admittedly starting to get attached to her, and he was really hoping he could get to know her better, too. It's just a huge disappointment. But what's really getting to him is the last part of the letter, about his "secret." He never did get to talk to Clover about that... She was the only one who called him "Clive" when he first appeared in Johto, so he was curious just how much about him did she really know. Alas, he never had the chance to ask her, and now that chance will never come.
After spending pretty much the whole day just laying in bed, reading the letter over and over again and musing about things, he finally gets sick of staying cooped up in his room and decides to head down to the lobby so he doesn't feel so isolated from the world anymore. Clive still doesn't feel much better, though, and pulls out the letter again after he makes himself comfortable on a vacant couch. He's been reading the thing all day, but it's still just as depressing as it was the first time.
Soon he realizes that this isn't going to help anything, so he sighs and stuffs the letter back in his pocket, leaning back further into the cushion and staring idly at the ceiling. Maybe he should go stock up on alcohol and get drunk in his room at the Rocket HQ... That sounds good right about now. No one would bother him there, and there would be a bed in the vicinity for when the alcohol really starts to get to him. Yup, this is the best plan ever. But Clive wants to mope on this couch for a little longer before he gives up his sobriety for the night.]
