The two of them have come a long way in a year.

Envy's waiting at the restaurant, and managed to get a nice, relatively secluded table and not one right next to the kitchen door. Luck was on his side for once there. He hasn't been waiting long, but he got there early because Envy is impatient and doesn't always think ahead to things like 'just because I get there sooner doesn't mean France will'. That was one thing that probably wouldn't ever change, and the feelings brought on by the singing Pokemon didn't exactly help it. France really had been completely right in his teasing earlier; Envy couldn't wait to see him.

He also couldn't wait for whatever surprise France had planned for later in the evening, but as far as he's concerned having dinner in the meantime was an excellent way to see each other before then.

France had gotten out the clothing he'd originally come to Johto in for this occasion. It's a designer suit in navy blue with a red tie and silk lining to the jacket. He hasn't worn it besides the first day here, usually going with what he's sewn himself and what he's gotten from the Department Store as well as the Veteran class trenchcoat and shoes. Thanks to the warm weather and Valentine's Day spirit, though, he'd taken out this outfit and downed it for the occasion. If any day was fitting, this would be it.

He gets to the restaurant on time, maybe about a minute or two before, hands in his pants pockets and posture relaxed. Seeing Envy waiting outside, France grins widely, reaching out and pulling Envy into a hug, pressing his lips to each of Envy's cheeks and then to his lips in greeting.

"Happy Valentine's Day."

Envy brightens considerably when he sees France approaching, giving him an easy grin. The atmosphere of the day has made him completely confident about being affectionate no matter who's around to see, so he's quick to return and lean into the hug.

"Happy Valentine's Day to you too."

He smirks a little, but it's still a softer sort of look than he usually has on his face. He leans up to give France a kiss back, happy to linger in the hug for a little longer. But then he pulls back, grinning and taking one of France's hands.

"So, shall we go in?"

France hums, pleased that his affection is returned. Envy is essentially the only person he can treat this way here, and it fills France with such love and affection to be able to share this part of himself with Envy and have his sentiments returned. When Envy pulls back, France holds on to his hand, beaming.

"Yes."

He winks playfully.

"I'm very much looking forward to this."

Envy looks back over his shoulder, flashing a pleased look at France that's also a bit softer than usual.

"Good, because so am I."

Envy continues to hold France's hand and stay close as they go inside and while they're being led to the table, looking up to mutter to France just loudly enough to be heard over the rest of the diners and general noise.

"It's been an interesting year, hasn't it?"
