[Another three days, lost.

Honestly, Ryner isn't all that surprised, by now. This is the fourth time it's happened, after all. And he wouldn't even complain about the whole mass sleep excuse, if it weren't for the fact that he doesn't feel rested at all. (Plus he's pretty sure he dreamed about Ferris being back, and it's never pleasant to wake up from one of those, nor is it ever pleasant to realize that such a dream isn't actually reality.)

But then, at least he woke up where he expected to, this time. Even if it was kind of unfortunate that 'where he expected to' was Goldenrod City... well, at least Sion will probably want to move on sooner rather than later. The one benefit of having an insane work-a-holic best friend as a travel partner.

Yawning, he sits down on a park bench and stretches out across the back of it. He would have preferred to sleep in longer, but Rose decided to wake him up excessively early this morning, for whatever reason. It's not like there's anything special to do today... but, well, she won't let him go back to bed now, so might as well avoid the lightning.]

...At least it's a nice day.

[he muses as he just watches the people go by.]

[ Last he remembers, he was falling asleep on the train. And suddenly, he's in his hotel room in Goldenrod.

Confused, he makes his way outside to have a look around. The city looks exactly as he remembers it. And it's definitely Goldenrod. But...

... He doesn't remember getting here. And this whole 'missing a few days at a time' thing was starting to get really annoying.

He's a little afraid to ask, though, because the last time he'd experienced anything like this, it'd only been him and he'd realized that his dreams had been real. So Hughes will just take some time wandering around the town, trying to see if he can spot anything different.

He's approaching the bench that Ryner is sitting on right about now, but hasn't recognized him yet. ]

[Out of the corner of his eye, something catches Ryner's attention - a face on the road that he might possibly recognize, as opposed to the general crowd of anonymous city-goers. And looking up briefly from his thoughts, that initial reaction is confirmed.

Well. It isn't often that he gets to see a familiar face in person, certain roommates excluded.

Kind of lazily, he raises a hand in greeting.]

Morning.

[ He looks up at the greeting, and it takes a moment for him to reorient himself. ]

Ah! Morning!

[ He waves back at Ryner and heads toward the bench. ] Out for a little bit of sun and relaxation?

[He shifts over on the bench so there's room for Hughes to sit down if he wants to.]

More like Rose woke me up way too early this morning... If it was relaxation, I'd still be in bed.

[ Why thank you! He'll be taking a seat ]

Sitting out in the sun is still rather relaxing, don't you think?

Yeah, it definitely is. Almost makes a guy forget he's in such a huge city.

Mmm! It's nice how large cities can be connected to dense forests in this world.

Really is amazing, what you can find around Johto. Have you ever been to Olivine? The beach there is really relaxing.

[ He shakes his head at that ]

I'll have to check it out, then. It sounds amazing.

You should! Hell, if we keep going at the rate we've been going, I'll probably end up over there myself in a month or so. Maybe we can catch each other around then.

Oh? Where are you headed? That friend of yours still insisting on working?

Yeah. Sion's going after all the gym badges for whatever reason, and just when we actually settle down in a town, he says it's time to move on again. Seriously, the guy's insane.

Ah, on the gym badge challenge, are we? How many have you got so far?

He's got three, at this point. Just won the one from here the other day, before the whole "mass sleeping" thing.

Ah! Congr...atulations...

[ Pausing. ]

Mass sleeping? You mean the random three days of unaccounted time?

[ So it isn't just him then? ]

Yeah, that thing. Believe me, usually I wouldn't have minded it at all, but actual sleep would've been, I dunno, restful. And the excuse starts to get old after the first three times, too, honestly.

Ah, this is the third time it's happened for you?

[ It's Hughes' third time too, but slightly different circumstances... ]

Do you... feel like you've dreamt anything?

Fourth, actually. Fifth, if you count the time it lasted a week, but I went home for that, or... well, it was complicated... Anyway, it always feels like I dreamed something, when it happens this way, but hell if I can remember any of it.

Mmm. Feels like you've spent all weekend doing something, but never actually got any memory of it, am I correct?

Exactly! It really sucks, you know? If it was really sleep, it should have been restful.

Did you have any... ah... dreams?

I think so, yeah. I think... Ferris was in it.

A friend of yours from back home?

... But your dreams were set... here... right?

[ Ugh. What is this. ]

My partner. She was here for a while, but...

Yeah, they were set here.

[because he's treating the time he went home for a week differently]

[ He has to make sure that they are different... ]

I see! And she has not appeared after these... 'dreams'?

Nope, haven't seen her.

[ He nods thoughtfully for a moment, and then brightens up with a smile ]

It's a shame, really! I kinda wish my wife and daughter would appear during one of these three-day dream things.
