Who: Vanitas and Sollux
Where: Violet City
When: Forward dated to late evening of Sept 18th/wee hours of the morning Sept 19th
Summary: While Karkat is off to Cherrygrove for some moirail times, Sollux needs a badge. Vanitas flies him there because he has nothing better to do, but he's missing his boyfriendo since it's the first time they've been apart in five months. Yeah. Sollux isn't going to be of any help, is he.
Rating: PG-13 for trollmouths
Log:
While Violet hasn't exactly been one of Vanitas' favorite towns, it is much quieter than Saffron, Celadon or Goldenrod ever were. There weren't any late night things going on, and for the first time in a while, he wished there was. Laying in the dark and completely unable to sleep, Vani kept himself from texting Karkat for the fiftieth time today, grumbling and rolling over in an attempt to get comfortable again.
Clearing his throat quietly and somewhat hoping that Sollux is dead asleep over across the room, Vanitas quietly starts trying to hum the tune that Sanaa would sing when using the move with the same name. At least he's on key...?

Vanitas clearly wasn't the only one with sleeping troubles, because in the other bed, Sollux is rolling over quite a bit; his relatively light weight made the groaning of the bedframe a little more tolerable, but it was still clear that both of them weren't going to fall under anytime soon. More than once, Sollux found himself wondering if this was just what happened when Karkat wasn't around — was it so awkward that neither he nor Vanitas could sleep if there was no nubby-horned nuisance in the room?
God, the least they could have done was make a bit more noise outside. The sounds of nature or whatever were... annoying. He wanted to be back in Fuchsia or Saffron or Goldenrod, where he could at least hear that there was a city out there, even if he didn't necessarily look out his window every day and see it. Here, though, there was just the constant nagging of Hoothoots and Spinaraks and whatever else lived out in the forest, and it was driving him nuts. How did anyone sleep like that? Hell, there was even some bastard trying to use Sing, and it wasn't even working to make him fall asleep... wait.
Sollux turned around in bed one last time, staring at Vanitas with bicoloured eyes. They were locked in a very judging expression.
"Are you fucking serious?"

"Shut up. I'm desperate to make time go by at this point and sleep just isn't happening."
How embarrassing, being caught attempting that bullshit.

Ugh, whatever.
He grumbled and shifted around a little more, staring at the ceiling so that he didn't have to stare at Vanitas. He would never achieve a state of sleep by gazing at his spiky-haired mug. This situation was just really freaking sad.

He's rolling over though with a disgruntled glare, dragging the pillow around to puff it up as much as he could.

Sollux seemed intent on dragging this out as long as possible. What fabulous 'bonding' this is, Karkat will be so proud of them!

Catching the pillow and climbing out of bed, he silently steps over and just whallops the troll.

The action of getting out of bed is large enough that Sollux can catch it, even with his lack of concentration. So he grabs his own pillow and sends another bonk right back Vanitas' way.

Letting Sollux take his pillow back, Vanitas keeps wailing away on him with his own, changing the direction of his swings to be from side to side instead of downright striking him in a two handed grip again and again.

Sollux actually began deflecting Vanitas' pillow strikes. Even though pillow fights didn't exactly work that way, he didn't really know much about pillow fights in the first place — only proper ones. And in proper fights one should always defend themselves, even with massive psychic energy fields. There was probably a couple of Pokémon sitting in the door by this point, judging them both deeply, but he really didn't care.

Stepping to the edge of the bed down near the foot, Vanitas uses one hand to reach down and outright heft up the mattress, throwing it up onto his shoulder and standing to flip it sideways, knocking Sollux right out of his comfortable position.

The boy still managed to stay on his feet, having gained at least a little bit of coordination from his time in Johto. But you bet he kept a vice-grip on that pillow.
"Hey — overkill. Heard of it, asshole?"
He chose to ignore the fact that 'overkill' was one of his favorite words.

The loud cursing had him cracking a bit of a grin, but it's the action that is making him feel better. Lifting his foot and giving the now empty bedframe a rough shove with his heel, Vanitas darts forward and swings his pillow like a sword, swiping it up at the last minute in an attempt to disarm Sollux.

...But then again, Sollux seemed to be using his like a shield, holding it up in front of him as he jumped back.
"What's wrong, don't trust yourself to end me the first time?"
no subject
Using that step back, Vanitas darts in and dips down with one knee almost touching the floor to swing his pillow up and nail Sollux in the jaw.

Catching the foot even if it's leaving a nice bruise on his face, Vanitas grabs both legs and yanks, dragging Sollux and the bedframe across the room a bit while trying to make him let go.
Reading comprehension, I has it
Of course, he never got further than that (it kind of degenerated into a scream). Sollux let go of the bed much more easily than either of them could have anticipated, and he wound up falling into Vanitas. Wonder if that woke up the neighbors?

"Now, suck it up and shut up when I try something disgustingly desperate to get some sleep!"
sollux and vanitas bonding: successful. THEY'RE LIKE BROTHERS
"Why the fuck should I?"
YUP
"Because I think I'm going to call Karkat in a little bit. I just don't want to pester if he's busy."

"I'd feel better. I haven't been apart from him since we started traveling together." Hey Sollux, did you forget that he is pretty much a grub still?
