Is this what they call a....'girl crush'???
Who: Emmy Altava (
snapandscoot) and Saber/Nero (
autocratic)
Where: Goldenrod City!
When: Now~
Summary: Having seen Saber's amazing sword skills over the network, Emmy decides to meet up with her and test her talents in person.
Rating: PG-13 at the worst. Like, very worst.
Log:
Emmy had been positively delighted when she'd received the message from Nero stating that she was in the city; what luck! She'd been wondering when the emperor (...that was still the most odd thing to think about...) would be available to see her, and it just so happened that she'd proposed a meeting on a day that Emmy had free.
They'd decided to save the pleasantries for later and skip straight to what they were both most interested in; a bit of a sparring match. Emmy had never seen a woman fight with the skill and grace that Nero possessed. Really, it was hard finding women in her home world that tended to practice her hobbies; she was aware she was a bit of an odd one, as London went. Not that she really minded! But it was nice to meet other girls interested in the sorts of things she liked, here in Johto, and Nero had blown her away with her talents.
She made it to their designated meeting place fairly quickly, riding on the back of her Zebstraika. It would be rather rude of her not to be punctual, after all, and really, she was rather excited about the activities that lay ahead.
"I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long!"

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long!"

"Mmm, not at all! It appears you are also blessed with the common courtesy to not keep an emperor waiting, and for that, I commend you further." Saber says as a smile forms on her lips that quickly grows into a bit of a smirk.
"I trust you are well equipped for our duel?" At this, the former Servant pulls her treasured Aestus Estus from the simple strap at her back and simply holds it at her side with one hand. Though made of wood and obviously looking sort of heavy and long, she looks the least bit unencumbered by the weight.

Oh goodness, what a sword! Emmy has never seen one so big. She didn't even know they came that big. It's like something out of a fairy tale. But then again, with Nero, she's come to realize that the woman will simply never be predictable.
"I....well! I must admit that I've never actually fought with a sword before...although there's a first time for everything! Just give me one minute, Nero!"
After all, the Professor is incredibly talented with a sword, so it must be worth learning! And Descole is also....apparently quite talented with that sort of thing, so....she probably should learn, then!! She can't let him beat her, after all! Leaping back on her Zebstraika, Emmy quickly gallops over to a nearby grove of trees and examines them, before stumbling upon what it was she was searching for; a branch on the ground, long and quite thick.
"Perfect! Could you help me, Ralto?"
With a flash, her Gallade appears, swords extended. The branch is trimmed into a sturdy pole in seconds. Perfect! Galloping back to Nero, Emmy leaps off her noble steed and lands gracefully, wielding the stick with inexperienced, but determined hands.
"Will this do?"
no subject
Instead, "I applaud your enthusiasm for our duel, but would you not want to review several basics?" And though she may have offered that to Shinn before their duel, he openly insulted her, so of course that shot him in the foot.
Her bright green eyes study Emmy a little more closely as she shoulders her own weapon for the moment.
"Inexperience dictates your movements, and you recall what happened to that boy and his partner that I defeated weeks ago."
no subject
Not that she intended to use that particular strategy, of course! Definitely not.
"But don't worry; I will give you a challenge; I'm going to try and work the sword in with my usual style of martial arts! That should be something different!"
Spinning the stick lithely around her wrist, Emmy swung it backwards and went into a playful ready stance.
"So what sort of moves should I grasp, Miss Nero-ah, I mean, Emperor!"
no subject
Her feed spreads apart and both of her hands hold the hilt of her longsword down low at her right side with her left shoulder facing toward Emmy. Her usual stance, and one that doesn't let her opponent get an easy opening on her.
"Footwork and approach, perhaps? Let us see how you try to get past my defenses with your stance. Come!"
no subject
Pausing only for a split-second to adjust her one-armed grip on her stick, Emmy promptly runs right at Nero, a determined look on her face. Raising her faux sword, she brings it down in the direction of Nero's left shoulder - it doesn't quite seem right to aim for her head, at this stage. She'd feel simply awful if she accidentally connected!
Something tells her she doesn't have to worry about that, though....
no subject
"A reckless charge, but you show promise. You seem apt at analyzing your situation, yes? Look for an opening."
no subject
"Look for an opening....right!"
Leaping to her feet with graceful ease, Emmy trots over and retrieves her stick, twirling it idly as she ponders what to do. There must be something...
"How about this?"
This time, when she runs at Nero, Emmy isn't using Wild Charge - no, that didn't work last time, so why repeat it? Instead, she goes for the side on which Nero is holding her sword, as it could mean that blocking the strike heading for her right shoulder would be awkward for her! Maybe....
no subject
It isn't awkward for Saber to only bring up her right hand in diagonal block against Emmy's strike. What might be awkward for Emmy, however, is the sudden shove from behind Saber's sword as the shorter emperor begins pushing against her weight with immense strength.
"Haha! Better! Let us see what you will do in this situation!" In a lock like this, Saber anticipates what sort of tactic Emmy will try to use to escape out of this, lest she land on the floor again.

"Don't discount me yet!"
Dropping, Emmy pivots on her left arm as she moves to swing her leg into Nero's, aiming to neatly knock her onto the ground, partly due to the fact she's fascinated about how Nero will respond. Will she fall, or will she produce another fantastic technique to ruin Emmy's plan?
no subject
Since Emmy is in a position, this gives Saber enough time to wield her wooden longsword and... block against Emmy's leg! Should Emmy try to follow through with more kicks, Saber will expertly move her blade about so that the flat of the blade meets her opponent's leg. It's a wonder the wood doesn't give it - a testament to Saber's craftsmanship. Emmy is no Li Shuwen, but she is, at the moment, thoroughly enjoying this spar, and it shows on the wide smirk on her face.
no subject
"I really thought I was going to get you with that one! I suppose I should've known that would have been far too simple."
Standing and shaking out the leg that hit the sword (it hurts, but she's not going to show it - there will be a bruise, though!), Emmy trots over and retrieves her stick once more.
"I'm glad you're not going easy on me, however - at least, I hope you're not!"
no subject
"You are most fortunate I am not a Servant within this realm. I am known to beat down my opponents mercilessly, and moreso as a Heroic Spirit. It would sour my victory if I had broken such a beautiful maiden as yourself."
Johto is no Moon Cell, nor is it her Rome, where they actively made good sport over vicious battles. Saber would like to remind herself that such brutality is not needed in this setting, even if it may seem like Emmy is truly asking for that.

As she asked the question, Emmy lightly jabbed towards Nero, skipping just out of reach of retaliation. Testing the waters, as it were. That compliment, however, was worthy of a blush; and it earned one, along with a pause.
"Miss Nero, you say the funniest things!"
no subject
"Majestic is the correct word! I was a Servant of the highest order, protecting my designated Master valiantly and with pride! Whether as a magical construct or my former human self, she would not ask for anyone better!"
With that cheerful admission, Saber suddenly rushes forward and thrusts her sword arm out at Emmy. Hopefully those instincts of hers pulls her out of this move: the force of the thrust can even be heard with a slight whistling of the wind as the wooden blade strikes through the air.

As she gains her bearings, Emmy ponders the things Nero just said. Well, 'ponders' probably isn't the right word; you can really only ponder something once you've managed to get your head around the basic details, and she's got absolutely no bloody idea what her opponent is gabbling on about.
"I'm afraid I'm not really following, Miss Nero; are you saying you have a Master? Aren't you the Emperor?"
really sorry about the long delay!
"You appear to be of a scholarly mind: you have heard of my legend, yes? And its sordid conclusion?"
