Φ is also known as the Golden Ratio, [WHEN IN DOUBT, MATHS!] and is considered the mathematical basis of beauty. It encompasses basic symmetry as well as a pleasing distance between various features resulting in an object, face, or person that can be objectively identified as attractive on an instinctual level. People with a good Φ ratio, for instance, are the ones that infants prefer over any other kind of stranger, although preferences for the mother is still higher than the Φ ratio.

Φ can be derived based off of the Fibonacci Sequence wherein after the first two numbers each following number is the sum of the two prior, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and so on. Fibonacci Sequences can also be used to derive fractal patterns which have an intricate beauty which continues unto ∞...
