//you could hide beside me maybe for a while
Who: Hal Emmerich (
philanthrotaku), Liquid Snake (
boldandresolute), Solid Snake (
imthe_shit)
Where: Outside Sprout Tower
When: Early afternoon
Summary: IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOOOOOWN
Rating: ...yeah, let's go with T on this one because Liquid has a dirty mouth :|a
Log:
There was a pile of Pokemon and trainer under a tree very near Sprout Tower. Otacon hadn't been sleeping much, with the stress of an imminent fight weighing heavy on his shoulders. At this particular moment, however, the engineer was fast asleep using his napping Arbok's thick coils as a particularly comfortable cushion. On top of Otacon was Asimov, little pink sheep on its stomach with his back foot twitching every now and then. He may also have been chewing on the sleeve of Otacon's kimono, but that was beside the point.
The point was that for a single moment, despite circumstances and weather, everything was tranquil and calm. The inevitable confrontation was a million miles away, and life in Johto really wasn't half bad at all.
But when you associated with the two most dangerous soldiers in the world, 'calm' was all relative.

He was here. Somewhere in this city, his brother was waiting for him.
Liquid turned sharply, meaning to go and find him.
what nerdfail? you saw no nerdfail.
He reached out and grabbed Liquid's wrist, Kotai hissing at his side.
I saw nothing x]
He pulled his wrist from Otacon's grasp.
"I will not allow you to stop me."

He scrambled in front of Liquid, trying to stop him from advancing.
"You don't know--there's this virus Snake has called FOXDIE, i-i-it'll kill you for certain, you can't win this!"
The engineer's tone was pleading, almost desperate as he stammered uncontrollably.
"Please, Liquid. Don't...he's not even from your time or mine! Fighting him wouldn't have a point--we can just go to the next town together. You can live for yourself and not some vendetta!" It would hurt, of course, to distance himself from his best friend. it was hurting right now.
But Otacon couldn't deny he liked spending time with Liquid no matter how surreal it was. Having someone else he was attached to die in front of him...no. Not again. He couldn't take it.
Before he knew what he was doing, Otacon's arms were wrapped tightly around Liquid's shoulders.
"I don't want to lose either of you. Please...I'm begging you not to do this."

All he had was his vendetta. All he had was the fight, and if he gave that up, then there was no point to his life, to his existence. All he could do was rage against those who made him inferior; against his father and his brother and the fat men in suits who had him made.
"I don't care about your virus. I will hound my brother until my dying breath."
The engineers arms around his shoulders made him tense; he wasn't used to being touched, especially not without invitation.
"Let go of me, Otacon."

"I don't want you to die."
AWKWARD
Snake stood there, Sunny at his side, looking up at the suddenly quite serious old soldier. His eyes were narrowed as he stared.
"... Otacon. What the hell are you doing."
OOPS
Otacon let go of Liquid like he had been burned, taking a step away from the blond soldier.
"I-I--!"
At his side, Kotai bared her fangs and hissed at Liquid while Asimov sparked with electricity.

Liquid turned sharply toward the voice when Otacon released him, gesturing dramatically with one arm.
"BRRROTH--"

"...sorry, I think I've mistaken you for someone else."
FFFF LMFAO
He looked himself over, then remembered, quite painfully... The reason Liquid didn't recognize him... was because Snake had become so old. There's no way this man would know him at this age... Besides, Snake knew Liquid Ocelot a little better.
He turns his head somewhat, taking a few... very careful steps forward, Sunny following.
"Mistaken me, huh..." His eyes are staring at Otacon now, a hard, stern gaze. Snake's not sure whether to be disgusted, angered, or confused. Otacon was hugging Liquid. Despite all the things Otacon had said about Liquid being not so bad, Snake couldn't forget what the man had done to him in Shadow Moses, that he took over Ocelot's body and made him a puppet for his whims...
He couldn't... wouldn't forget it.
:3
Otacon shrank back slightly under that stare--he was just trying to stop Liquid from hurting Snake and getting hurt himself. Had he really done something to make his friend angry? Kotai curled protectively around his waist, at this point not looking sure of which brother she should be angry at.
"Don't...please don't start anything." he murmured almost helplessly to Snake.

PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEE"You do look familiar..."
Add an eyepatch, subtract that ridiculous mustache, add in a beard--
Liquid's eyes widened from shock.
"Brother?!"

Then Snake turned to him, eyes looking old and tired, but still serious.
"Figured it out, huh."

At first it was said with disbelief.
"You're old!"
Then anger.
"How am I supposed to fight a man who looks like he has one foot in the grave already?"
no subject
"If you want to fight, then try. But I won't take it lying down."
no subject

"Just try it, old man."
this is just like Snake vs Wolf- NO ONE LISTENED TO OTACON 8D
Sunny, noticing that things were getting hairy, trilled and chirped, trying to get her motherrr's attention, but it wasn't working.
Snake got into a defensive stance, eyes narrowed.
i can HTML, really
The cobra, for her part, hissed in appreciation at her trainer's uncharacteristically enraged outburst--meanwhile for once in his life, Otacon was positively fuming.

Liquid's Houndour, seeing quite clearly which way the wind was blowing, just sighed, shook his head, and moved out of the way.
"I have waited too long for this, my dear brother. This battle was predestined-- why else should you have followed me to this strange new world!"
He launched fluidly into a fast, hard roundhouse kick.
