[open] the voice that heeds no master is calling~
Who: Nagisa Motomiya
seasidecherry and OPEN!
Where: Cherrygrove City, Routes 30 and 31, ending in Violet City
When: June 3-10
Summary: it's finally time to leave Cherrygrove City and move onto Violet City! But wait, what's this weird glitchy thing?
Rating: PG at most!
Cherrygrove City, to Route 30:
It was a bright, sunny June morning, not a single cloud in the sky, as Nagisa finally stepped outside Cherrygrove City for what she knew would be the last time for a long time. It had been a good place for beginnings, she'd decided, but now it was definitely time to move on.
"Thank you for everything," Nagisa said, bowing towards the city itself. "I'll be back one day." And she would. No goodbyes. You never said goodbye, not when you were an idol. You always said thank you, and promised to come back, then you moved on. That was the way of things.
Route 30:
"A wind that heeds no master now blows..." Nagisa couldn't help singing a little bit as she walked, her Audino following her and humming along to the melody. It seemed right - things did look weird. Like the light wasn't right, or like things were there that shouldn't be.
Like the - the light around it looked weird, but that was a Bulbasaur, right? Time to catch it!
Route 31:
Now, this was weird. It was one thing to suddenly have an extra Pokeball in her bag - Nagisa could easily chalk that up to having counted wrong. But she knew she didn't have five hairbrushes. She knew she didn't have ten tubes of lip gloss. And while she'd bought Potions, she definitely hadn't bought fifty of them. This felt a whole lot like stealing, and that was something she would definitely never do! But the problem was that she hadn't been near a PokeMart in days. What to do?
Violet City:
"Hello! It's nice to meet you." It was a greeting to the city itself, really. That had been a really weird week on the road, one Nagisa hoped wouldn't repeat itself. But she smiled, letting the sun hit the blue outfit she was wearing - it dropped when she caught the glitched Bulbasaur, and while all of the other items in her bag had gone back to normal, it had stayed. It was rightfully hers; she remembered when she'd worn it on-stage, and it seemed right to wear it now. It hadn't been all bad, had it? No. Not at all. And now, all of that was behind her. She'd laugh about it soon enough.
But now? A new city! Time to explore.

Violet City!
It almost seems like she doesn't remember what happened, Chieri realized. It had been explained to her before that people came here from all sorts of periods in time, but if that was the case with Nagisa, then what did it mean for Chieri? ... She wasn't certain what to think of it, and in the meantime, kept her thoughts to herself, though Nagisa might have caught her up late at night, practicing and practicing until she dropped, practically.
Today, Chieri was also wearing a new outfit, one that she, too, had found when things were all odd and glitchy. It was her Niji no Ressha kenkyuusei uniform, or rather, the kenkyuusei uniform the girls first wore when they debuted the song and then officially wore in concerts from then forth when not wearing the long sleeved version. It was a little fancier then she remembered, but it felt more suitable to wear it than the kenkyuusei travel uniform... at least if Nagisa was going to wear her own uniform.
"Do you greet every town this way, Nagisa?" she asked.

The whole thing had also made Nagisa practice harder on her own, too, but it wasn't with the same kind of focus that Chieri had.
...and to tell the truth, she'd noticed that Chieri had seemed sad when she'd first arrived. On the one hand, if it was something she could help with, Nagisa wanted to try to help, but if it was something she couldn't do anything about, she worried that bringing it up might just make things worse. Either way, it just never seemed like there was a good time.
"It almost feels right to," Nagisa answered, with a bit of a sheepish laugh.
She paused for just a moment, then turned to look at Chieri.
"Chieri, you know that if something's wrong, you can talk to me about it, right? This probably sounds like it's coming out of nowhere, but it's felt like something's been weird for a little while now. There hasn't been a good time to bring it up, but, well, you've looked really sad, or upset, for a while. If it's something I can help with, you know I will."

Still... there was something Chieri had to ask Nagisa.
"Nagisa," she began, her smile fading, "What do you remember before you arrived in Johto?"
no subject
She didn't really want to say it, but she had to. "...your dad's company had done to them. They didn't trust us not to hurt them like we did. But Sayaka-san was really great, and it's her lesson from that day that's actually helped me more than anything else has here in Johto: even if we can't speak in words, we can still share our feelings when we sing.
Then I remember finding you, when you'd decided to finally go talk to your father about everything. That's the last thing I remember, sneaking onboard the Zodiac ship with you."

Still, Chieri couldn't keep it a secret from Nagisa forever, especially if they were going to be traveling together, and truth be told, she really did want to talk about this with her friend, who she had thought would have been aware.
"That's the thing," she slowly began, choosing her words carefully, "We made it safely to Sagittariusstar... and we went to see my father... and I tried to make him understand."
no subject
"I take it things didn't go well with your father, then..." It was stating the obvious, but what else could Nagisa say?
She might normally have jumped right into her usual optimism about trying again or being sure he would understand one day, but right now? None of that felt like it was the right thing to do. Nagisa couldn't quite put her finger on why that was, but she held her tongue for now.

The next part was hard to talk about, and it took Chieri a few moments to compose herself enough to speak. "I tried reaching out to him with my song... I was going to show him the radiance he used to say I lacked..."
"... But when I thought I was finally reaching him, he was shot."
no subject
"I'm so sorry, Chieri..."
Her voice quavered as she spoke. If it had been anyone - her mother, her father - she didn't know what she would have done. It had been bad enough learning that after passing the first round of 0048 auditions, her father had been put in prison. If anything worse had happened...
"And you've probably been wondering why I had been acting so strangely. I honestly had no idea..."
Still, though.
"...but you've been so strong through all of this. I don't know that I would be able to be half as strong as you've been."
"And I...I don't know everything, so I'm going with my gut here, and it says that your message - it had to have gotten through. It had to. You felt so strongly that you needed to tell him, so I'm sure that he really heard you."
no subject
"I've been trying to lose myself in practice," she confessed, "I thought it would help to take my mind off of things- everything's happened too soon. Still... 'You're not the only one who's feeling sad. We must all walk this road of trials'"
Still, she tried to smile at Nagisa's encouraging words.
"I like to hope so, too..." Chieri said, "Thank you, Nagisa."

Nagisa stepped back, turning and waiting. Sure enough, as if she'd asked, a light breeze came in behind her towards the city, and as it did, she started to sing.
"Even so, the wind blows towards the future. Feel the breath of life on your cheek...Even so, I will strongly live on. Now, shall we start by laying down a single brick?"
The wound of our memories have become scars. Within the pain, kindness is born. Who should I embrace first? Let's talk about our dreams while in our warmth..."
Nagisa stopped after a couple of lines. "Don't forget...the wind's still blowing. The future's still waiting."
no subject
"As much as the fallen tears, I want to hold up something; I won't become a bystander," Chieri started to sing along, picking up where Nagisa left off. "Even so, love continues towards the future... People are looking for it."
"Even so, I will take one step forward. Shall we begin by picking up the hope that we had forgotten?"
Akibastar was still counting on them to save them. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but eventually, they would return home, and Chieri knew that for the sake of everyone, and for the future of entertainment, she couldn't grieve forever.
no subject
"Even if you've lost everything and are lost, I definitely exist here. Remove the rubble blocking your way and live for today."
Nagisa looked at Chieri. "That's all we can do right now. One day, we'll go home again, and when we do, we'll have to be ready to jump right into things with clear heads. Akibastar and 0048 itself are counting on us.
But right now? It's okay to grieve, if you need to. But the wind's still blowing, Chieri; there's no world where the wind doesn't blow. We're here now. We might as well live every day to the fullest."
no subject
Chieri paused, thinking over her words, and even Oshawott was curious as to what her trainer was going to say. Nagisa was right, of course, and so was Sayaka. Come, come, all you lonely people, there's no point in feeling blue, she also recalled from their time on Funghistar.
"I'll never know if I ever truly reached out to my father through the unreachable door that stood between us, but like you, I'd like to hope that maybe I did. And... it'll take awhile, but I think I'll be alright."
This time, she really did smile, even if it was a small one.
"Even if the wind were to stop, there is no world where the wind has disappeared. No matter what, as if you are breathing, even if the day today' is painful.."
"Shall we start with what we can do?"
