Yet another ninja birthday party

[Just over a week since Naruto's announcement to all of Johto and Kanto that his birthday was coming up, the day had finally arrived.

Not too many people were expected to show up (since he did invite EVERYONE) and they'd managed to rent a function room in one of Goldenrod's restaurants for the day. There's plenty of chairs and tables, food, music playing and room to dance if people so wish, you know regular old party stuff.]

[Pre-party]

It's finally his birthday and Naruto will be in an even better mood than usual. Getting up early because ramen for breakfast [!!] and then helping with any preparations for the upcoming party.

[Party]

At the actual party Naruto can be found in good spirits, making sure to try and greet anyone he notices showing up. He's also not in his regular ninja gear or pokemon trainer outfit for once, instead wearing black pants and an...orange....t-shirt.. though he is wearing that cloak Mom made him a while ago over the top. Because it is awesome.]

(Rainbow Dash made sure to get here on time to wish the #1 hyperactive ninja a happy birthday, and by that it meant flying in on the back of her Charizard -and then crashing to the ground once her Pokemon landed. She's since recovered from said crash-landing, and is wearing a light blue t-shirt, a blue jacket and red shorts. She'll still be recognizable by her cyan-colored hair, and she's holding onto a gift-wrapped present.)

'Sup, Naruto? This party ranks right up there with other parties I went to, and those were awesome~!

[Well, she did promise to be here, and even if she hadn't she felt like coming would have been a nice gesture. Naruto is Kushina's family and she could guess it would mean a lot to her to have plenty of people come and give him well wishes.

In her hands is one long, rectangular box. Inside of it are four items. There's a hat on top of three different t-shirts. If he was wondering why she asked for his clothing size, now he has his answer. In retrospect she could have just asked Kushina, but she hadn't really thought that far ahead at the time.

She lifts up a hand to wave as she approaches.]

[It's not often she's up early on days she doesn't have to work a morning shift. She had planned to get plenty of sleep so she could have the cake baking that morning, then cool enough for decorating before the party really gets going. But she hadn't slept so well. But she won't let some stupid nightmare get in the way of her son's special day. Not on her life. So before she gets baking, she'll just be getting two large mugs of hot chocolate with that whipped cream stuff just piled on top for her morning pick-me-up. But if Naruto wants one of them, she'll just get another to drink while making his cake. No biggie. She sets them down on the table before going up to Naruto, arms open wide with the biggest, honest smile she can muster for the early hour on her face. Because what does time or any of that matter when you can wish your grown son a happy birthday? Yeah, thought so.]

[It shouldn't be too hard to find her before the party starts. Just as in the case with Sasuke's party, she's taken over a part of the inn's kitchen despite it being her day off, but just so she can make one hell of a cake. The restaurant can make all the other food for everyone, but she's making her son a damn chocolate cake. With strawberries. And if your name is Sasuke and you don't like sweets... Well, she remembered last time and got to making rice balls while the cake was cooling. Can't go punching her son's friends at this party too. So feel free to drop in on her at the inn if you happen to be looking for her for some reason...]

[Or maybe you'd prefer to just run into her randomly at the party. That's cool too. She's probably spending half the party being an Embarrassing Parent^TM by taking all the pictures and smothering Naruto with affection or some shit like that. 8Db]

[He saw that arrival, watching in a mixture of awe and surprise and the huge Pokemon that sort of swooped in close by.]

Oh, hey Rainbow Dash! [He grins.] It's been pretty awesome for far!

[It was early in the morning an he still hadn't woken properly, daydreaming about something so he stumbles back a step once he suddenly has Mom hugs out of nowhere.

It passes a second later though, wrapping arms around here. Hearing her wish him happy birthday brings about the biggest grin he can muster.]

Oh, hey! Hehe, thanks!

[He waves back at her, spotting what he assumes is a gift for him in her other hand.]

Did you get me something?

Of course! It wouldn't be a birthday party without gifts. [Which she hands over for him to take now.] Hope you like it.

Hehe, you bet! If a friend of mine was still here, she'd totally make sure this place was even more packed than it is now!

(That, and pranks galore! She grins back while holding up the present. Hint: she got him a Pokemon egg.)

Wanna open it now, or you gonna wait a while?

I didn't think you'd be up this early or I would've brought your present down with me [Her arms hold him close for a moment before she moves her hands to his shoulders.]

I still can't believe how grown up you are. It feels like just yesterday you were a tiny little thing in my arms... [Aaaaaand changing subjects at the speed of sound before she starts getting into weepy territory. Today is gonna be a happy day, not one for laying out all the sads. So she'll give his shoulders a gentle squeeze. One hand lets go to jab a thumb at the table.] You want a hot chocolate with me before I get baking? Or do you want me to get your present to open now? Or maybe you want some breakfast first?

[As promised, John is definitely there for the party. He greets Naruto with a wave and a light punch to the shoulder (yeah, he probably should give you like fifteen more of these but he's too lazy nice for that), followed by an offering of a small box wrapped in blue. It's a Poliwag coinpurse thing because it's cute and...frogs, yeah? Toads, frogs...Poliwags. Close enough right?]

[It's no surprise that John arrived at the party in the company of his best friends, but he's hardly the sort of person to just stay glued to their sides during a party.]

[So feel free to bug him, he'll just be hanging around with a shiny Whimsicott on his shoulder, the two of them sampling the food or looking for someone to chat with.]

Um.. I'll open it now! [He isn't very good at waiting, half his presents have been opened already.

A grin, as he takes it from her.]

An egg! What kind is it?

[He gives a sheepish grin at being told how grown up he is, rubbing at the back of his neck.]

I'll have some hot chocolate! And yeah! Let's have breakfast first.

[He wants presents, but he's also hungry.]

Thanks! And yeah, it's so cool. It looks like my Dad's, my Mom made it!

[Opening up the gift, he takes out the froggie wallet.]

Cool! Gama-chan! Hehe, thanks man.

Yeah...two of 'em. Pinkie Pie, who's the girl who REALLY enjoys parties and Rarity; she'd make sure I dressed my best for the party.

(Naruto gets to find out as a few moments after he's opened the gift, the egg starts glowing!)

Hehehe, I made sure to take care of it when I got it 'cause I got some new Pokemon for me and I didn't know if you had him -or her- yet. Happy birthday!

[Sigh. At last, they've wrangled him to travel with them for at least a little bit, if only so that he could go to Naruto's birthday. It's been a long time since he's seen the other face to face, and now Naruto's seventeen... Three years older than him...

It's not until he can corner the blond in a quieter corner of the party before he holds out a box in one hand, silent as he waits for Naruto to just take it. Of course, he knows the idiot is going to like the ramen bowl set that he put into it, but he has to wonder about the black fingerless gloves in there as well...]

[Lately, he had been in a foul mood. The cause, more than likely, is the recent loss at the fighting tournament -- especially since he lost in the first round. Being so far behind in his badge collection isn't exactly where he wants to be, either. But the worst part has to be getting dragged -- literally dragged -- to the birthday party being held for Naruto.

That doesn't mean he has to socialize and make nice, however. He's at the refreshment table, picking up a rice ball to nibble on and avoiding everyone's eye otherwise. This is worse than his own party was... But, chances are, he's not going to be lucky enough to just get left alone, is he?]

[This is great, she's finally able to get together with the rest of everyone, she has all the badges... Today is a good day. She even got Naruto a present, though its still in its box, held behind her back.]

[If there was someone she wasn't expecting to see at all, it was John because wow when's the last time they were in the same city, wow. So she has to run over, tapping his shoulder and giving him a grin.]

John, John, look at this!

[She's got a case in her hands, guess what it is???]

[Oh. It's you. Did you pull that massive bug out of your butt yet, kind-of-boyfriend? It might be a little obvious the casual observer that things are a little chilly between them since the end of the tournament, but after avoiding him for the better part of the party just to see if maybe he'd come to her first, she finally heads over as if she were just going to grab something from the table.]

You should try to smile more, [she remarks without looking at him.] It's a party, after all.

... Sora says that a lot, too.

[A sigh leaves him after the words, his eyes closing as he goes back to finishing the rice ball in hand. It's been a while since he's spoken to Tenten - truthfully, he's still unsure of if she's going to go off at him again or not. He didn't feel like fighting again on the tournament day, especially not after losing so badly to that girl. But, he does eventually finish the rice ball and, after a moment, turns to face Tenten more.]

If you want to spar after the party, we can.

[She doesn't even want anything to eat, but she's waiting to see if Sasuke says something else. Anything else, really, just picking through the food and putting it on a plate. By the time he spoke again, she's already piled a good amount of food on it, turning toward him with a frown.]

I thought I wasn't good enough for you to fight against. 'Cause I underestimated that guy.
