Well, there's no harm in checking, after all. We've got plenty of cupboards and drawers to look through and any one of them could hide something important. If we see anything strange we should either take it if we can and it looks safe, or just make note of it if we can't or it doesn't. It's not like we care if the master of the house gets upset with us for making a mess.
