We goin' 'til they kick us out, out

Who: Envy, Lust, Greed, France, and Scar

When Lust had asked to go out and have a drink (now that having a drink will actually do anything), of course Envy said yes let's go find a bar right now. Drinking, he's found, can be a spectacularly fun thing to do when you're human. And after all the shit she went through back home, Envy thinks Lust deserves some fun.

Fortunately, Goldenrod is not a city lacking in bars, and they've found one near the hotel that doesn't look half bad. Or too expensive. It's even good weather for the walk there. And with France and Greed both agreeing to come along…

It should be a good night.

This kind of place isn't exactly Scar's typical 'scene.'

He rarely drinks, but it's so easy to slip into some sense of safety, in this world. A few wouldn't hurt. He doesn't have any friends, at least not any friends he would go drinking with. So he's completely alone, with his Pokémon resting in their Pokéballs for the evening.

There's a sinking feeling of dread, though, as Envy strolls in. It's been a pleasant, quiet night thus far. What to do? He stays in his seat, biding his time.

This place is one of the bars that Greed has frequented since arriving in the city, so being asked if he wants to join in on drinking is one of those no-brainer things. He might not know how to classify his relationship with Envy (or Lust for that matter), but tonight is already shaping up to be interesting so he can't exactly complain.

He strides past Envy, flashing the older homunculus a smirk before he sits down next to Scar and immediately orders gin because of course he does. "Don't think I've seen you here before," he says, not looking at him right away.

Sorry, Scar. You're a victim of Greed's desire to be a social butterfly.

Like France can turn down a chance to go drinking! Plus, this is probably the largest drinking outing France has been on since arriving here. It's cause for celebration and high spirits, the latter of which France is clearly in as they arrive. France watches with a brief curiosity as Greed strides over to the frankly intimidating looking man at the bar before turning to lean near to Envy's ear, waving the bartender towards them in the same moment.

"Do you think he's trying to pull?" he asks in a low enough tone that Greed and Scar shouldn't be able to pick it up but Lust maybe able to.

Lust is in high spirits herself. It's finally been dawning on her that she can at least experience all those things that homunculi couldn't. Including getting drunk. And in what better company to do so? These are her people. Even Greed's been invited along, which she's more than pleased about. There are all sorts of things she'd like to experience, now that she can.

Her thoughts are interrupted when arrival at the bar reveals Scar of all people, already seated and drinking. What is he doing here? Why does it seem like he's everywhere? They'd agreed to keep to themselves, but how could they possibly do that when they kept running into each other?

She doesn't quite catch what France whispers to Envy, but she wonders. Her attention is more focused on Scar and Greed, and she sighs, hoping the evening doesn't turn awkward immediately.

She just wants a fun night out.

Envy doesn't pay attention to the person Greed goes to sit next to until France points him out and he actually looks. And then immediately grimaces, because of course Scar's here. Just. Of course.

He mutters back to France, "Maybe, but I think in this case he'd have better luck with the barstool."

But they're going to have a fun night out, they are. Surly Ishbalans in the bar or not. ...Besides, maybe this will turn out funny. Envy keeps one eye on Scar and Greed, and nudges Lust lightly with his elbow. He's perfectly willing to mostly ignore Scar and have fun with some of his favorite people (and Greed, who is...something).

"What kind of drink do you want to start with?"

Drinking will surely fix everything.

Scar doesn't think the night is really doomed until the rest of the party steps in. It would be fine if any of them had individually showed up. He doesn't care about France one way or another. Greed is... simply obnoxious. Envy is indifferent, and Lust... acts strangely, when the others are around. If not for that, he would be perfectly fine with her being around. Really.

"This is not a place I frequent," he replies to Greed, hardly paying any attention to him beyond that. He's too busy watching the others (mostly Lust) enter.

Well that was a complete failure.

He'd try harder, but you know what. He's not going to. Instead he looks up at the rest of the party, waving at Lust to signal 'hey, sit with me!' Greed might not have a clue about their relationship beyond it being clear that Lust and Scar have a history a bit deeper than either want to let on, but that's really not going to stop him tonight.

Especially with her wearing that dress.

He's on good enough terms with Envy right now to be invited along with the group. That says plenty as far as he's concerned. "That's a shame. This is a good bar."

France's eyebrows go up at the response, and he glances briefly to Lust. So they know big, broad, and potentially bust? Based on what France knows about the complex interpersonal relationships from their world, it wouldn't terribly surprise him. Although it raises interesting questions in France's mind why he's trying a familiar but potentially disastrous quarry. It puts a mischevious twinkle in his eye. Fascinating.

And, based upon how the scene is playing out, that looks like a rejection if there ever was one. France's hand comes briefly up to his mouth to cover his smile before he answers the bartender's question. Since tonight is special:

"A sidecar, please, and a summer fruit platter to share."

The platter part of the order is said with an increasingly devilish look at Lust and then to Greed and Scar, like France is trying to draw arrows through the air with his eyebrows.

Maybe it won't be so bad.

Between Greed's obvious signaling and France's implication that they head over, Lust can't avoid it. At least there's going to be alcohol. She's not sure if that's going to make things better or worse. It's awkward, being around Scar and the others at the same time.

Even Envy only knows so much.

"Oh, I don't know. Something sweet. What should I try?"

She begins heading over to Greed and Scar as she speaks, managing a pleasant smile. This is her night out, after all.

Well, it looks like they're going to be sitting with Scar anyway. This definitely calls for alcohol. He thinks for a second before answering the bartender himself.

"Two mai tais, then."

One for both of them, because it's summer and sweet drinks are the best kind of drinks, and he thinks Lust will like that one. He goes to sit down, leaving a space for Lust to sit next to Greed. He's also giving France a blatantly curious look, as though to ask whether he's planning something.

Scar doesn't know which one to be the most wary of. He glares at Greed as he motions Lust to come over, then looks briefly up to Lust as she approaches. What's he even supposed to think of all of this? Envy doesn't even seem to care one way or another about Scar being here, and he would have considered him the biggest 'threat.'

But in all honesty, they seem like they're just here to drink. And for some reason, he's going to be doing so with them.

Scar takes a sip of his beer, still uncertain if he even likes it as he continues to watch the group settle in.

Sorry, Scar.

Greed's going to behave for about as long as it takes Lust to sit down and then he's immediately going to go back into shithead mode. Which will surprise absolutely everyone, naturally. "Glad you let me tag along," he says to Envy in the meantime, smirking a bit as he takes a drink.

They certainly make an odd group, but then again Greed hasn't ever associated with 'normal' people at any point ever. It's almost funny that they'd end up at the bar that Scar just happens to be at. Which means that it's going to end up being hilarious to Greed once he's had enough to drink.

At least he's ignoring the angry Ishbalan for the moment? That's something, right?

France balances his sidecar lazily in his left hand and the fruit platter in the other, returning Envy's curious look with that particular expression he uses to make himself look innocent when he's clearly anything but. He finishes the look off with a salacious wink as he slides the fruit platter down the bar with a master waiter's finesse. He leans on the bar, beaming down across them all.

"Try the strawberries: they're supposed to extraordinarily sweet this year. I haven't bothered to order cream or dipping chocolate; I have yet to find anyone here who can do a proper fondue, let alone a dessert one."

He raises his glass, letting it the orange-amber of the liquid catch the lights above.

"Santé!"

Lust takes the seat next to Greed with a small nod to Scar. "Hello, Scar." If they were all going to crowd around him, she's going to offer a proper greeting. She takes her drink and her attention is turned to France, and the fruit and talk of dipping things. She makes a small snort of amusement.

"There was an alchemist back home who always wanted me to..." She trails off, remembering Scar's sitting right there. Not the sort of story to tell in his presence. "Well, suffice to say I don't mind the exclusion. Plain fruit's fine." She lifts her glass, unfamiliar with the toast but assuming it was the same as all the others.

Well now he knows that France is up to something...and also that he's not going to find out what it is until it happens. He does have some idea, though, the way he was looking at the others. He snorts at Lust's story that doesn't get anywhere, because he thinks he knows which alchemist she's talking about and oh does he remember that one.

He holds his glass up when France toasts, and takes a drink before smirking in Greed's direction. "I figured that it'd liven things up to have you around."

And if they're going to do this weird...thing where they're not quite friends but they're not fighting either, then he's not going to let the chance slip away. Not for a fourth time.

"Hope Scar here wasn't looking for things to be quiet."

Scar gives a discrete nod to Lust in turn, the closest thing he ever offers in greeting, really, before he eyes France's toast. His own bottle remains on the bar.

He does, however, look up with a note of mild shock at Lust's quickly halted story. Alchemists...

"Shockingly, I was," he growls as he continues to watch everyone settle in with their drinks.

He might not know France very well at all, still not quite used to actually being a member of the group again, but Greed toasts with the rest.

"It's never very quiet in this bar."

Still, it's not quite the same, because he can't comment on Lust's story. It's not familiar to him, though of course it couldn't be because Lust had been born years and years after he had been locked away.

Even so, he's fairly sure he knows how her tale would go even if she hadn't cut it off very quickly. Alchemists are all ultimately the same. He knows how it goes.

"Look at you, getting all dressed up for the occasion," Greed says, giving a very obviously flirty smile as he looks Lust up and down once. "That dress looks good on you."

Maybe there's something to be said for how easily Greed found himself fitting back in with the group, with Envy in particular, that he trusts the other homunculi to get drunk around them and expect nothing to happen. Not just because they're still in public, but because he honestly trusts that nothing will happen.

It could be the alcohol, or it could be that he's still extremely quick to trust.

Either way, he's had a handful of drinks by the time it's starting to get late and he really doesn't want to head back to the hotel quite yet so he might as well strike up a conversation with his fellow monsters. "You know, another person from our world showed up recently," he says, actually managing to get the words out without them being a horribly slurred mess, though he is talking slower than he would normally. "Couldn't tell which version he's from, though. I believe that makes ten of us now."

It really is easier than Envy would have expected, to have Greed there. Scar might not be happy about it, but Envy really can't say he minds, and he's not regretting asking the other homunculus to come along with them. He doesn't even mind getting drunk like this around him, because...well, even if Greed was going to do anything, he would have accidentally broadcast it to the whole bar ages ago. Envy's not worried.

...but maybe he should have been worried about accidental attacks, because he's in the middle of taking another drink when Greed brings up Johto's brand new arrival, and Envy chokes. He starts coughing, trying to keep it quiet, and it's a bit before he can actually say anything.

"...yeah, I. I talked to him already."

Nothing weird about that reaction at all.

"Another one?"

Lust hasn't had the pleasure yet.

She certainly doesn't have any qualms about getting drunk around either of her fellow homunculi. She trusts Envy more than anyone, and trusts Greed enough. Considering the conversations they've had...

"Who is it now?"

Envy's reaction is interesting, to say the least.

That is certainly an interesting reaction. Greed isn't an idiot, at least not about matters like this. "I take it it's someone you know," he says without hesitation. There's a number of things that he should really know about and now it's incredibly clear that this is one of them.

There's really only two ways that the homunculi dealt with humans, so the ways that Envy could had encountered the man were extremely limited. It was just a matter of having it explained to him.

"It's that Maes Hughes guy. You remember him."

He waves a hand vaguely in her direction. It's not really a question, because how could she have forgotten? It was pretty memorable, as murders went. He remembers, even drunk, to keep his voice down, because he'd rather not have France or Scar or the other random bar patrons overhear.

"We killed him back home. Or I did, anyway. He was a pain."

Stabbing Lust in the head and cutting Envy's throat. How rude of him.

"Oh, him." Lust wrinkles her nose. She matches Envy's tone, leaning in close to her fellow sins. Oh yes, she remembers him. Sticking his nose in everywhere he shouldn't. She'd feel more badly about it, but a soldier signs up for danger and early death. Besides, he'd brought it on himself.

"I had a headache for hours thanks to him. He put a knife right between my eyes. Troublesome soldier boy."

Oh-ho.

It pays sticking with the group. You get to learn all kinds of interesting things other people might not be too willing to talk about. Laughing at things like the misery of others or even the very obvious assassination of others is not exactly the polite thing to do. But then again, Greed has never exactly shied away from what exactly he is.

"An assassination, then?" he says lowly, the grin on his face making just what he thinks about the situation obvious. "Did he learn too much or was he unfortunately in the way of things?"

And he thinks back to his first meeting with Archer and how unsurprised he was to hear about Pride. Had that been an act or had Archer genuinely known? If it was the latter, well... someone had gotten sloppy somewhere down the line and that made the entire situation more funny than it had any right being.

"Didn't just learn too much, he was going to tell everyone. Went right to Pride with what he figured out."

No, Envy clearly doesn't feel bad about this. Besides, if the guy had been so smart, maybe he should have been smart enough to know when to stay out of things. He takes another drink.
