No one seemed to be paying them any attention. Certainly not when the fireworks began and everyone's attention turned to one another. Well. Apparently the holiday came with some traditions. At least she knew full well that Scar wasn't about to try that. But she was glad she'd taken his hand now. It would be even more awkward to sit there, hands in laps.
She looked up at the fireworks instead, ignoring the couples that seemed everywhere now. A new year was turning. It wasn't something she'd ever given much thought to, the passing of years. But here it mattered. Her hand tightened on Scar's and she looked over at him briefly, smiling.
Who knew, maybe they'd be one of those affectionate couples, next year.
