[Under the light of the full moon, the Mysterious Feathers™ begin to glow.

In the hours that follow after they sprawl out to sleep, those who had the good fortune (or at least the insatiable curiosity) to pick up one of those feathers earlier in the week will come to discover that something very strange is happening across the regions of Johto and Kanto. There's a saying about what happens when you let your mind wander; this time, though, it's a little more than just one's mind that's going wandering, as dream after dream stretches out before you like a horizon just begging to be chased.

Don't worry about getting lost, dreamers; as real and vivid as they may seem, your surroundings are really only visions and illusions, and in the end the failsafe way to escape from them is to simply wake up. If and when you do, you might feel perfectly well-rested or as on-edge as if you'd just jolted awake from a nightmare; like the dreams themselves, there's really no telling how the experience will play out for you, being different and unique to everyone.

But for now, you've got the whole night ahead of you, filled with places to go and people to see. Might as well make the most of it while it lasts...]

Snake looks up, startled by the voice breaking the silence. He waves back gingerly. His eyes slide to Kaneki's Zangoose and for once Snake is glad that his sevipers aren't with him. He looks back to the boy and asks, "Kaneki? asks Zola."

"A dream? How can I be in your dream?" Her head picks up to take in the tall pink-haired figure. His robe was the same as the one Xion first arrived in-- the same one Kairi sleeps in every night.

"And who's that guy?"

The city you find yourself in tonight might be familiar: it's Goldenrod City. There doesn't seem to be anything different about it, at least not immediately. If you look closely, you'll see a surprising amount of people wearing suits and carrying very large, heavy-looking briefcases. Attempting to talk to these people will yield no results, they won't have any interest in you and will keep going as if they didn't hear you.

It won't be hard to find Naki. Just turn around and you'll see the alleyway where he's hiding, his back to you as he stares out into the streets anxiously. He can't seem to keep still, which probably won't help him stay hidden. There's a large rip in the back of his suit, but it doesn't look like he's been injured.

"Shit, fuck, they're gonna find me..." Naki's mumbling lowly to himself, but he's not saying anything of value. Still, you might want to be cautious if you approach him.


(OOC: Depending on how you want the thread to go, this could be anything from fighting those guys with briefcases to discussions of death, but it'll definitely be nothing over PG13. There won't be any cannibalism mentions at all, though Naki's kagune might make an appearance depending on how things go.)

That's not good. Naminé's certain Lightning is strong--she can feel it, see it in the way she moves--but the thought of Lightning getting hurt for her is unbearable. So Naminé reacts, gets her body to obey her, and she runs to Lightning. Right now, the only thought is to stop Lightning, because she doesn't know what Marluxia can do. And she doesn't want Lightning to find out.

She grips Lightning's wrist lightly, in trembling hands, and looks up at her with wide eyes. Lightning might notice the man disappears in a flurry of petals, quick as a ghost, like he had never even been there.

Asami is silent for a moment, contemplating her words. She folds her hands, watching the floor between them rather than Elsa.

"I saw... an accident with your sister. When you were younger."

How severe an accident, Asami isn't sure. She can guess the silver streak in Anna's hair is a result, but there must be much more to this story if Elsa is reacting like this.

[shatterings]

"I... I'm not sure." She really has no idea how this could be possible at all. She'd certainly never be willing to let Kairi into her dreams--at least, the bad ones, because then Kairi would know about her past and that frightens her--so it must be something the world's done. That makes sense, she thinks; it seems like the type of world that's prone to doing weird things like this every so often.

If that's true, Naminé's not looking forward to the future tricks this world seems to be playing.

"He's..." Her voice gets stuck in her throat, and she bites her lip. While Naminé doesn't want to be dishonest to someone so important, it's hard to speak the truth. Even to Kairi. "He's... someone from my past."

[bylight]

Lightning stops dead in her tracks, looking down at Naminé. "What-" Her head snaps to where the man had been. Her eyes scan the room as she tries to figure out what just happened. "Where the hell did he go?!" she growls, her sense on high alert.

She looks down at her friend again, her face grim. "I'll protect you. Just stay behind me when he shows up, alright? Don't worry about me getting hurt. I have my own secrets."

[defyingfrigidity]

... Oh no. Ohhhhh no. The ball of anxiety in Elsa's gut tightens even further at that, and she suddenly feels nauseous.

But of course, this is a dream. Nowhere to run for that.

"... I'm sorry you had to see that."

That's all she can really say. Now she can just hope that her friend, who'd said such kind words to her so recently, won't absolutely hate her for what she saw...

[samsa]

"Mm? ...yes, that's me." He's a little surprised he's so quickly recognized at first, but it doesn't take him but a moment to recognize that unusual speech. "Is that you, Snake-san?"

[paopuprincess]

"Hey, it's okay." She gives her back a light squeeze. "I'm right here. I don't care who that is, you're safe."

Besides, he's just kind of standing there. Real scary, tough guy. Go be silent and imposing somewhere else.

[shatterings]

Thankfully, he does disappear--kind of fades into nothingness, like he was never there in the first place. The air's still charged with tension, but that shouldn't come as a surprise. And Naminé still holds onto Kairi, onto her sister. She doesn't say anything, just gives a very slight nod and lets her hands curl around the back of Kairi's shirt.

Kairi looks up to sneer at the darkness for a moment. Yeah, that's right, you better run.

She quickly turns her attention back to her shrinking twin. She takes both of Nami's hands, crouching down so she can look up at her sister's face.

"I'm not letting go, okay? Us sisters need to stick together."

[shatterings]

Lightning, as raring to go for a fight as she is, won't be getting one today. Often, Naminé finds her dreams going like this: He disappears, and she's left paralyzed by fear, wondering if he'll return. Hoping he won't, dreading the moment if he does reappear. Despite Lightning's reassurance that she'll be fine, Naminé has a hard time believing it--not because she doesn't believe in her friend, but because she knows Marluxia. Knows what he can do.

"It's okay," Naminé murmurs as she bows her head. "... He won't come back... I think."

[shatterings]

If it were any situation but this, maybe Naminé would crack a smile at that sneer. Maybe. Kairi's a lot more confident than she--not that it's herd, but Naminé sometimes wishes she had that same confidence.

"... Okay," she says, and it's more a whisper than anything. She does give Kairi's hands a light squeeze. Support. It's a nice thing to have, and Kairi's presence does set her at ease, even just a little bit. But that little bit makes all the difference.

Having spent most of the past year in Goldenrod, Greed's familiar with the layout. The people in suits carrying briefcases are a little alarming, though. Greed's not used to being ignored here, and he's definitely not used to being ignored at full strength. You'd think people would notice the strange cat eyes, but apparently not.

Finding Naki is easy enough, though he hears the other man before he sees him, keeping his distance. "Naki?" he says quietly, taking one step closer, crouching down in case one of the men in suits notices either of them. Greed should be able to take care of them, but Naki seems like he's panicking.

[wing_attack]

<Yeah. I mean... usually. I can turn into other things, but I like being a bird the most.>

Regal squawks out an affirmative. Being a bird is the best!

Those words confused her, until she remembered that this was a dream. She relaxes enough to nod. "If he does come back, I'll be ready." She gives Naminé a soft smile. "I'll stay here till you're ready to wake up."

The room is rather curious to her, still. It was not a place where she wanted to stay for long periods of time. Making her weapon disappear, she gently takes the younger girls hand off of her wrist, squeezing it gently. This was to reassure her that Light would indeed not be leaving until she wasn't needed anymore.

"You don't have to tell me about this place. It's okay to have secrets."

[paopuprincess]

"Look, you're my sister. You're like a part of me. I'd be stupid to let anything happen to you." She laces her fingers with hers.

"Can you walk? We should try to find a way out." This white-washed castle was seriously starting to creep her out.

[awesmazings]

"Gotcha! So that's why you're a bird now, right?"

[deaftly]

Naki jumps when he hears someone speak and he whips around immediately. Aside from the fearful expression, the most obvious thing about Naki is his eyes. They aren't normal by any stretch of the imagination. His irises are still red, but the sclera is black. He's either not aware of it or isn't bothered by it, because he makes no effort in trying to hide it.

"Shh! Keep your voice down!" Naki's still far too loud given the situation, but what were you expecting? "They're everywhere; the city's fucking crawling with 'em... When the fuck did they get here?"

[scratchitti]

It's quiet, until the sound of someone moving nearby and above breaks the silence. There seems to be an ironically named someone in the cherry blossom garden. In one of the trees in fact, lounging like a big ginger cat.

"I'm surprised to find you somewhere so... nice."

"You don't need to apologize," Asami suggests, now looking up at Elsa with clear concern. "I'm sorry I saw something private without your permission." But now that she has, she can't just let it be there. Not if Elsa is okay with sitting and talking like this.

Asami holds up, hoping to glean some deeper idea for the reasoning behind Elsa's state of mind before she jumps to conclusions. At New Year's, she had said something about her powers being considered a bad thing, right? Then there's her close relationship with her sister to consider. There are layers to this, whatever it is.

If Nagi is surprised by the sudden new presence, he doesn't seem to show it at all. Neba does look up, though, his ears perking as he watches Neku seated up in the tree.

"Really? And why is that?" He asks in his usual soft monotone, still staring out across the field as the petals continue to fall around him.

[ossifragant]

...well, those eyes answer Greed's question about whether or not Naki is human. He takes a few steps closer, nodding and keeping silent as he regards the other man. Greed doesn't stop until he's almost right up next to Naki, turning to face the exit. "You're dreaming," he says finally. It's probably best to be direct with the guy, especially given how badly he's panicking.

It's not said to be dismissive; if Naki knows he's dreaming, it'll make things a lot more interesting around here. Greed isn't about to turn down the opportunity to fight with his Shield up. It's been a year, that's far too long.

Screw announcing his presence gently. After finding himself in... whatever this is, Ash has questions.

"Are those symbols supposed to be glowing, or should I start looking for cover?"

Because he's getting a Non-X-Rounder But Still Very Bad Feeling from this place, and those usually mean explosions to come.
