This shouldn't be happening. There should not be a tiny rat mauling his bat's face. There should not be a tiny rat cutting his bat's HP in half. Things like this don't happen to him, Dio.

For a second there he almost seems panicked. This vermin shouldn't be posing a threat to him, and it won't be, but he's not going to allow some filthy creature to do that much damage to his Pokemon. Because that would almost be like landing a hit on him, Dio, which is absolutely not happening ever.
