even Izaya thinks about corporate fascist holidays.

Who: Izaya ([livejournal.com profile] trollsikebukuro) and Namie ([livejournal.com profile] usedglare)
Where: Goldenrod City inn.
When: Morning, February 14th.
Summary: Izaya muses to his favorite listening about Valentine's Day.
Rating: PG/PG-13/T for Trolls.
Log:
It was a rare occasion when Izaya really seemed to be bothered about anything. But this particular morning, he certainly didn't seem as keen on things as he usually was. He'd sat in the chair as he usually did, eyes half open as he looked at the empty teacup. But rather than make an attempt to fill it, he'd leaned over to the still-sealed box of chocolates that had been placed next to it.

Valentine's Day chocolates - this was a first. In his twenty-three years, he could safely say that nobody had ever gone out of their way to give him such a gift, and even if it was only as a platonic offering, it had still taken him by surprise. He'd never gone out of his way to be nice, of course. But then again, he'd also been rare to really anger anyone thus far. It just wasn't as fun without the proper information. And beside that -- even back in Tokyo, plenty thought he was nice enough, if not a bit strange. Those who didn't know him well, at the very least. Really, it wasn't much different here, so why the gift? Had he really come off as that worthwhile to Rise, or perhaps anyone else?

With little thought, he tossed the box in the air, then swiftly caught it. His eyes met with the garbage pail - he briefly considered just tossing the chocolate. They really didn't interest him in the slightest. Before any of that though, he decided to muse on it a bit longer.

"Oya, Namie-san," Izaya called out. His tone wasn't particularly fussed one way or the other, but certainly leaned more towards the side of disdain than anything else. "Valentine's Day really has some affect on people, doesn't it? Everyone seems to get up in arms about it, regardless of the situation. Whether they're here, or in Tokyo, single, dating, married... they all need to involve themselves in it somehow."

He paused, though only brief enough for her to entertain the thought, not reply. After the moment had passed, he let out a small chuckle. "I suppose at least in a sea of predictability, they can surprise me sometimes."

late sob i'm sorry!

She barely looked up at him as he walked in, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t observing him closely. She’s gotten used to watching him out of the corners of her eyes, keeping tabs on him without looking actively interested. If she did, it would means she was losing in their constant game of tug-o-war, of give and take. In any case, as he spoke, she barely rolled her eyes, and continued flipping deliberately through the latest entries on the Gear. At length, she let out a huff of breath.

“Of course they’re affected. It’s another, perfect way for them to fool themselves about the quality of their true love.” This time she really does roll her eyes, her tone mocking. It’s only at his last sentence, though, that she actually finds herself even the slightest bit intrigued.

“Oh? And what is it that surprised you?”
