Where: Goldenrod City Pokemon Center
When: March 19th, Evening
Summary: Ken and Kisa finally meet up--Ken has a gift for her ;A;
Rating: A for Adorable ; E for Everyone
Log:
CIVILIZATION. CIVILIZATION. It was the most beautiful thing ever. After weeks of wilderness, setting his things down and washing the twigs out of his hair was the nicest feeling in the world.
But he was finally in Goldenrod, and he had a promise to keep. As he sat in the chairs of the lobby in the Pokemon Center, waiting for everyone's check ups to be complete, he swung his legs and sent off a text.
I'm in the Pokemon Center, if you have time.
It was here he'd be waiting if Kisa had the time to come meet him, sitting in the Pokemon Center, a slightly undersized Cubone in his lap, his bag at the side with a present wrapped in white paper perched carefully on top.

Blinking in confusion - was it Artemis? - she checked the gear. And then stared down at it. The message itself was simple, but the sender--
No less than two minutes later, the doors parted to admit entrance to a little girl, pink-cheeked from running and with a Pichu clinging to her shoulder. She scanned the lobby anxiously, doing a tentative sidestep to avoid getting run into by other trainers, and then her eyes fell on the boy sitting there.
To say that Kisa lit up was an extreme understatement. There was a moment of awkward shyness-- she didn't know if he'd like her in person, but her overall happiness overshadowed anything else.
"Ken-kun...!"

"I hope I didn't bother you... Are you feeling better?" He'd noticed her blush, and was concerned that it might be a relapse of her fever. "I... could have come to see you if you're still sick."

A pause, mainly to catch her breath, and Kisa sighed. "I just... heard you were here, and I..." Breath. "... Wanted to see you?" she concluded meekly.
no subject
"... I'm glad you came, though."

And then, belatedly remembering that this was her first time meeting him, she bowed. "It's... nice to meet you... um, not on a screen."

... /didn't even notice
But there was something about the way Ken said it, and his smile that made it easy to believe him and provoked an equally warm feeling inside of her. One that made it possible for Kisa to truly smile brightly and bob her head in a nod. "Mm...! I'm... really happy... and that you made it safe."
... /always does it /)_(\
"--!!" Of course! He'd forgotten. "I almost forgot, I have something for you."
IT'S OKAY <3
"-- Oh! Um..." Now there was the fluster again. "You didn't have to..."

"I-I hope you like it. I didn't really..." know what to get.

She looked at him hesitantly (with also just a bit of curiosity), then slowly reached out to accept the gift from him. After a moment of studying it, she worked her nail along the paper, coaxing it to unwrap without tearing it. It might have taken longer, but that was just how she was.

She closed her fingers over the clip and held it to her chest, smiling at him. "It's... really pretty. Thank you, Ken-kun." And then she paused, adding in a softer voice, "... Can I try it now?"

Kisa was still too shy to outright ask how it looked, but there was a nervous air about her when she glanced back at Ken. What if it looked weird with her hair? Or maybe she'd put it in wrong--

"U-um-- thank you...! I'll take very good care of it, and it... I... I do really like it..."
She most likely was going to wear it for awhile.

She was struggling, trying to figure out how to word it best and finding herself running into a wall, no matter how much she tried to vocalize how she truly felt. Did she really need to explain to Ken that this was the first time she'd gotten White Day presents from people not from the Sohmas? Until Wataru - and Ken and Miles and Romano - she'd been unable to make friends with boys close to her age. It would have been too much of a risk.
And until she could explain that, of course he wouldn't understand how much something he might have deemed as simple meant so much to her.

It wasn't that big a deal to get or not get something on these holidays to Ken. Normally, he'd dismissed it as something silly, and he would never really understand why it meant so much to Kisa. But things here were a little different from back home, and he was no longer the type to under-appreciate any kind of friendship. And even if it didn't mean as much to him to get something, making someone else happy was starting to mean a lot more.

And finally, still at a loss as to what to say to Ken, Kisa settled for (slowly and carefully) reaching out to loosely grasp both of his hands in hers. She squeezed gently and, in her usual quiet voice, gave him a heartfelt "Thank you."

When she took his hands, he blushed, just a little bit. "There isn't anything wrong with affection, now and then," he'd been told before, but he still... wasn't quite used to it. He smiles, though, a little bit. "You're welcome, Kisa-chan."

"U-um... how are your Pokémon? They're... being looked at now, right...?"

"C-Can I stay with you?"
no subject
Ken had always over-estimated Bulbasaurs' strength--he'd never had a good run in with one.

For now, she just shook her head in response to his question. "I... want to stay with you. Even if she's fine... I, um... wanted to... spend more time with you?"
That was how you got to know people better, after all, but Kisa's nerves had failed her halfway through that sentence, so her last words were said in a voice just barely above a squeaked-out whisper.
