Who: Kanade Amou (
usedperishsong), Chris Yukine (
hurtitselfinconfusion), and OPEN
Where: New Bark Town -> Route 29
When: Afternooon, May 11
Summary: Kanade's not very good at waiting things out.
Rating: D (for Drenched)
Log:
Staying cooped up always made Kanade restless, and the power outage wasn't helping any.
Leaning on a wall in Professor Elm's lab, she frowned at the rain outside and mused. "The place's throwing a tantrum, huh....?" she muttered to herself, then smirked. As if.
Something outside gave a high-pitched wail, and Kanade straightened, smirk vanishing. The water outside had started to pool and flow, urged by the gusting winds, and as Kanade watched something - odd - flew by the window.
Something light, and pink, and crying in fear.
Kanade's pack dropped off her shoulder onto the floor. Her Torchic hopped up to it curiously, then turned to watch where her trainer had left.
But Kanade - shoving roughly past Chris on the way - was already gone, chasing the creature down the flooding road.
[[ooc: Feel free to respond to either Kanade (rushing out/along the route) or Chris (falling over in the lab)! We'll match your tag format.]]

So, yes, Chris had been sulking in the corner, close to the door because she figured the others in here would be less likely to hang around that corner of the laboratory.
But no, Kanade decided that she had to rush out, and that she had to push Chris out of the way to do it. She yelped a "Wha-!?", tumbling before just barely catching herself in time. Righting herself, she stumbled out into the doorway.
"What are you-!" She called out, only to be interrupted by a clap of thunder. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"
no subject
Lightning arched down, striking somewhere in the woods. Kanade didn't even flinch, intent on her pursuit.
no subject
And then MDM the Absol bursts out through the door, knocking Chris and making her stumble again. "What- damn beast, what are you-?!" Why is everyone going crazy?
Without thinking, she scoops up Torchic in her arms and rushes out after them.

Kanade, meanwhile, has slowed slightly in order to look around. She can still hear the plaintive cries from the creature, but where did it go....?
She hasn't yet noticed a couple of funny-looking green vines wedged up in a tree - across a particularly bad rush of floodwater, weaving through a low point in the forest's turf.
no subject
Chris, meanwhile, it still trying to catch up, shouting, "Idiot! What are you doing? You'll get us all killed!"
no subject
"Just a moment, boy," she reassures him. "Won't take long."
Glancing about, she catches sight of the waving vines. "Oi, got a rope?" she asks Chris by means of greeting, sounding much more insistent than usual.
no subject
Absol, meanwhile, looks up at her skeptically and worriedly.
no subject
With a grunt, she takes off again, charging the current as it sloshes about her ankles. A gust of wind chills the forest.
Kanade looks back as she reaches the tree, trying to grip branches with fingers numbed by the cold rain. "Get a cover ready!" she yells back, hoping Chris has her pack with her, then peers up into the tree. "Oi, get up! Move a little clos---"
Well, Chris. You finally get to see Kanade slip and fall out of a tree. Enjoy.
no subject
She jolts forward a little when Kanade falls. "Hey! You idiot-"
Chris then trudges into the raging current. It comes up higher on Chris, but Absol stays by her side. She'll worry about the stupid thing later. Instead, once she crosses, she'll shove Torchic out towards Kanade (even if that means dropping the bird on her).
"You're pathetic! You want to climb a tree? I'll show you how to climb a tree!"
And up she goes.
no subject
Kanade scoops Torchic into her arms and climbs to her feet, smiling for a moment in spite of the situation. Really, now....
"It's to your right," she calls from the ground, coming up beneath the tree and resting a hand on Absol's head. The fuzzy guy has a good partner indeed. "Hey, can you hear me? Help's almost there!"
She doesn't bother to distinguish that she's yelling to two different people up that tree, but the vines do perk up slightly and a tiny whimper can be heard.
no subject
Chris carefully shifts over to a different branch and-
"You were after one of these things?!"
no subject
"Found 'em? Great....Here, pass 'em down."
She stretches out her arms to receive the Pokémon, flexing her fingers to be sure they won't cramp again. The little guy's gonna make it. She's sure of it.
Besides, Chris-chan is on the case.
no subject
She passes it quickly down to Kanade. "You owe me!" She growls, before carefully working down a few branches until she can swing off and land gracefully.
...Well, maybe not gracefully. On hardened ground she'd be fine, but this mud makes her feet slip from under her when she lands.
no subject
"You okay?" she asks, patting Chris on the back. Hoppip squeaks what also might be concern, if it weren't too busy shivering.
no subject
"I'm fine!" She snaps, brushing a few leaves off of her. She turns sharply towards the current. "Come on," she mutters to Absol, who follows obiediantly after a glance towards Kanade.
And then Chris is off to return to shelter.
no subject
"See?" she asked him/her quietly, providing a shelter from the storm with her arms and head. "Everything works out if you don't give up. Somebody'll come along who can't leave ya alone."
Hoppip just nestled close as the wind pounded down, but Kanade didn't let the storm disturb her. Bed, some food, and everything'd be okay.
There were people like Chris around, after all!
