With the perky new song singing about the city, the summer Bug-Catching contest is back on in full force! With everything that's been going on lately, it's high time they start some for-fun things to do. So, mid-afternoon on Thursday, they gather the participants. After the participants check their other pokémon in at the front, they're all asked to line up in the front. From there, one park official reads the rules while another passes out twenty sport balls. Then once everything's settled, they're just about ready to go!

Three... Two... One... Catch!

[It really was a stroke of fortune, wasn't it? He happened to be traveling near the National Park just when they were planning on holding a bug-catching contest. Ken hasn't exactly set out to train Bug-types exclusively, but he can't deny the Pokémon that seek him out....do tend in that direction.

So why not? He entered, if only to see what kinds of Pokémon he could find. And, as is usually his luck, one's found him.

A Combee is buzzing around his head, darting and swooping and generally being completely uncatchable. But she's also making enough of a pest of herself that Ken can't really do anything else.

A little help, here?]

[Hiccup hadn't originally intended to be around the National Park this day, either, but after noticing the event he decided to swing by just in time. He's a bit jetlagged, but less worn out that he would be, had Adder not been able to fly him over. Now, the dragon is safely tucked away for resting while Hiccup's Noctowl, Laila, circles him from above and looks for good targets.

Ken's situation distracts her from her search, and she swoops down to inspect the boy with a curious tilt of her head. Hiccup isn't too far behind.]

...Having a little trouble, I see?

[That is one pesky-looking Combee.]

[Ken looks over sheepishly.]

Mmmm....yeah. And - my Pokémon -

[There is a green Woobat smelling the flowers over here.]

I thought it wanted battle experience, but....

[Combee swoops in again, making Ken cover his head only for the collision to never actually happen.]

[Huh. Hiccup had a Woobat once... Wasn't that color. Acted just as disinterested, though.]

They certainly have minds of their own.

[Laila hoots disapprovingly at the bug pokemon, motherly instincts kicking in--even if this wasn't her little fail!viking, it wasn't very polite to divebomb. And you should be ashamed of yourself, little Combee.]

So, uh... Want help? Laila's got Hypnosis. That should make things easier, at least.

[Combee swerves around and swoops in again, and Ken feels a little bad. You have a contest to attend to, just like he does.]

Though I wouldn't want to hold you up....

Wouldn't hold me up. [Hiccup offers a grin.] This is just for fun, right?

[For Hiccup it is, anyway. He hadn't really reached out in the pokemon world until recently, and participating in a contest seemed like an interesting way to spend time while he was in the area.

After a nod from the viking, Laila swoops in to try a Hypnosis. Also for a scolding because young lady, that is not how you act, even if you are a bee.]

...yeah.

[So Ken offers a sheepish grin as the Combee, not expecting a sudden assault, is hit full force with both the scolding and the Hypnosis! It falls, chastised and snoozing, to the grass.]
