With the perky new song singing about the city, the summer Bug-Catching contest is back on in full force! With everything that's been going on lately, it's high time they start some for-fun things to do. So, mid-afternoon on Thursday, they gather the participants. After the participants check their other pokémon in at the front, they're all asked to line up in the front. From there, one park official reads the rules while another passes out twenty sport balls. Then once everything's settled, they're just about ready to go!

So why not? He entered, if only to see what kinds of Pokémon he could find. And, as is usually his luck, one's found him.
A Combee is buzzing around his head, darting and swooping and generally being completely uncatchable. But she's also making enough of a pest of herself that Ken can't really do anything else.

Ken's situation distracts her from her search, and she swoops down to inspect the boy with a curious tilt of her head. Hiccup isn't too far behind.]

[Combee swoops in again, making Ken cover his head only for the collision to never actually happen.]

[Laila hoots disapprovingly at the bug pokemon, motherly instincts kicking in--even if this wasn't her little fail!viking, it wasn't very polite to divebomb. And you should be ashamed of yourself, little Combee.]
So, uh... Want help? Laila's got Hypnosis. That should make things easier, at least.

[For Hiccup it is, anyway. He hadn't really reached out in the pokemon world until recently, and participating in a contest seemed like an interesting way to spend time while he was in the area.
After a nod from the viking, Laila swoops in to try a Hypnosis. Also for a scolding because young lady, that is not how you act, even if you are a bee.]

[So Ken offers a sheepish grin as the Combee, not expecting a sudden assault, is hit full force with both the scolding and the Hypnosis! It falls, chastised and snoozing, to the grass.]

[A world full of catchy music is like Yui's dream! She probably didn't pay much attention to the rules, as she talks out loud to her chosen pokémon--her munna--and starts peering into the grass.]

Today was different. Or she had at least traveled all the way to the park from Goldenrod... Just to collect 20 Beautiflies into those Sport Balls and keep the best one of them in her team. Yeah, she wasn't really interested in anything else at the park. And her level 50+ Luxray, Yoru, was going to help her a lot with catching those "dangerous" butterflies.
Oh yeah, her favorite tactic is going to be disturbing them anytime when they're sipping nectar... Why? Because that's when they're said to be the most aggressive. And she liked them that way.
She glared at the girl who was talking to that -- whatever that was.]
I'm sure they'll come running to you if you keep talking.

[Rather than lose her munna in the grass, Yui was holding her little level-17 Mungi in her arms. Because this was totally a great way to catch bugs!]

The ones who won't fly away just because some loud person comes near them. They should be aggressive and attack if you disturb them, so if they just fly away, they're no good.

But, you know... I've never seen any kind of butterflies act like guards. Do you think you can train them to do that?
