Grand Fighting Tournament
Who: OPEN to all
Where: Goldenrod National Park
When: Early morning October 4
Summary: Many have entered but only one will take the title.
Rating: T for violence
Log:
It’s a rainy day in Johto, but that’s not going to stop the excitement that seems to have taken over the park. In the center of the park, there are five floating octagon-shaped platforms that being held up by Alakazams. Around the edges of the park there are tarp shielding the bustling crowds from the drizzle. Several big screen TVs can be seen all over the place.
The main park doors up and a redheaded woman step out. The crowds goes silent as she approaches the middle platform hovering above the water fountain. Once she gets close enough, one of the Alakazams picks her up using psychic. As she lands, she pulls out a microphone out of her pocket and addresses to the crowd.
“Hey folks, this is your lovely DJ Mary of the Radio Tower. Welcome to the Grand Fighting Tournament!” she shouts into the mike, making the crowd goes wild. “Competitors from all over the both regions have come to prove their might but only one will be the Champion. This event will not only be witnessed here in great city of Goldernrod but is also being broadcast to all of Johto and Kanto, so you can’t say you missed any of the action! The rules of the tournament are simple, folks. There are two ways to win.”
Mary raises her free hand up, showing two fingers.
“One is by knocking out your opponent, and the other is by knocking them OFF the platform. Don’t worry, guys, these awesome Alakazams will be here to float you down if you fall off. Now, enough talk. This time around we have special prizes for all that compete this year. Not only will the champion and those in second and first place be getting trophy. They’ll also receive special badge as wells. These each one bares the fighting symbol! Glittering examples of those that have top the completion to wear for all to see! “
She points to the big screen where all three badges are briefly displayed.
“Alright enough talk let’s get this tournament started. Bring out the contestants!”
Mary is floated off the stage just as the doors open again and the competitors come out.

★ .//. Cassie { OPEN }
It's some time before the tournament starts and Cassie is wandering the crowd to see whose here participating in the matches. She's seen the match up's so she knows when she's up, but scoping out the competition isn't a bad idea anyway, right? She's absolutely confident that she'll make it to the second round (
Spoiler: She won't). She's also looking for some familiar faces since she knows that Dick, Kushina and her family, Kuwabara, and some others she's met or seen around the network will be here.Feel free to approach for some friendly conversation, friendly (or unfriendly) trash talk (
Spoiler: SHE'S KINDA BAD AT IT), or just to see who you might be dealing with.{B. After her match }
She's taking it a little hard, but Cassie is the sort that bounces back fast. You'll find her in the hallway either having just left the locker room or on her way to join the general audience. Conciliatory conversation is welcome, and if you're a fighter in the competition then odds are good she'll be up for making friendly and agreeing to stay in touch.
More friendly rivals and sparring partners are ALWAYS welcome.]
A?
She sees a girl, who she hasn't met yet, so it's time to approach. Not that she has any idea of what to say, but she'll think of something.]
So, who is your first opponent? [That's a start!]
A!
Someone named Jin. I haven't met them yet, though. What about you?
A!
And as she roams around, she thinks she recognizes blonde hair. As she gets closer, hey, what do you know, it is Cassie.]
Hey! Cassie!
A is for AWWWW YEAH!
Hopefully she's excited enough about the tournament that her disappointment that Tim can't be here for it isn't obvious.]
I knew there was no way you'd miss this. And I saw that you got paired off against Minato, first round?
A is for ALL THE AWESOMENESS
[If she was disappointed, Kushina missed it. There's too much to be excited over. >__>]
ALL OF IT. >D
But I don't recognize the name either. That just means I'll have to be on my toes, right? [Optimistic attitude FTW. And a grin to go with it.]

Can't wait for the next match? [She can't either, and she's still full of energy behind that smirk.] Careful, you might accidentally punch someone if you keep boxing with shadows.
[Then again, the someone might punch him right back because this is a fighting tournament after all so it's not really a problem here. And it's not like she hasn't been shadow boxing too whenever no one else has been around.]
no subject
Yeah, well, if they don't like it, they're free to come at me. I could use the warm-up.
[You cheeky shit. Yusuke straightens up and absently adjusts his wristbands as he continues speaking.]
So hey, long time no see, right? What's it been, like nine months?
[... damn, he's been here for a long time. Much longer than he thought he'd be here, even. That isn't exactly a pleasant realization, but fortunately, he's in too good of a mood from the tournament for it to bring him down. Rest assured that he'll probably get pissed off about it later, though! He's flattered that you want him to stick around, Pokemon world, but dammit, he's got shit he needs to do back home. Let him go already.]
1/2
Then maybe you should accidentally try aiming at them instead of the shadows.
[She's kidding, mostly. Though she could probably use a warm-up too, but she can mention that later.]
2/2
I -- Maybe, I guess. I haven't really counted the time I've been here, but if you say so.
[She has all the things to do back home too, but then there's also the bending away taking monster? Yeah. Not so sure she wants to go back to that soon. But uh, there's also Naga and all the people. It's not like she chose to come here anyway, so it's not like she's running away from it on this free vacation. No, honestly, she should go stop that monster, and she's been here for nine months without realizing it at all? Wow.]
What have you been doing? [For nine months.]
no subject
Oh, y'know, just... hanging out, siccing my monsters on other peoples' monsters, scraping animal shit off the bottom of my shoes. The usual.
[... says he, as casually as if he were describing the weather. Looks like somebody's not done being cheeky just yet.]
What about you? You done anything like, uh, get badges or whatever?
no subject
Having come back to snag some water after his first, satisfying but anticlimactic win, he just shakes his head.]
You want to take your friend out in front of the crowd?
no subject
Anyway, geez, he sure is running into a lot of people he hasn't seen in a while today, isn't he? Had Dick approached him in any other way, Yusuke probably would've said "hey, what up" and offered him kudos on behalf of what he reckoned was the entire world for flattening Lieutenant Blake earlier - alas, however, Dick has approached him in a smart-alecky manner, which naturally means that Yusuke has to be smart-alecky right back. He'll just be wiping his brow with the back of his arm and giving you a bit of a dry look now, thanks, Dick.]
You wanna be a little more vague?
no subject
Love to, but I figure you'd have trouble with it.
Take it from me-- it's more fun when they fight back.
no subject
Yeah, tell me something I don't know. I dunno if you were paying attention or not, but I did just win a match. I'm just making sure I stay warmed up 'til my next one.
Hey, speaking of which, how was it? Beating Lieutenant Blake's face in, I mean. From where I was sitting, it looked like you made him eat his own beard.
no subject
Hope he choked on it.
[He rolls his shoulders and grins.]
If anyone needs to warm up here, it's me. At least you got an actual fight.
[The "kid" comments sting. Months he's been trying to get Batman and the League to see him as an equal, not "the little sidekick that could." One step forward, two steps back, three steps forward... it's been like that. He gets underestimated a lot. It gets old.]
no subject
Well, hey, if you're feeling that deprived, I'd be up for a quick spar. Like you said, it's a lot more fun if the guy you're hitting can hit back. 'sides, it's been a while since we last fought. I'm assuming you've improved a little since then.
[KIDDING. He's just kidding. His "taking the piss out of people" game is strong today, what can I say.]
no subject
I'm... tempted. I don't really like being dissed for being a kid.
[He laughs.] Maybe not that much, although I'm trying to keep up with my team. I've been preoccupied.

And being at his peak for every performance -- match -- it was the same thing to him -- was among his top priorities. Drinking enough water to stay hydrated, but not too much to make himself ill. Balance.
Of course, this is sort of solved by pouring a little bit into his palm and just splashing it across his face.]
There's more in the cooler.
[He says it, not really looking up, but not wanting to be unfriendly, either. Sportsmanship, right? It's a quality he needs a practice in, but...]
