i'm through accepting limits;
Who: Tobias and open!
Where: Violet City
When: Sunday September 14th, Monday September 15th, and Tuesday September 16th (aka Day of Smelly Birds)
Summary: Tobias is wandering around, taking in the bird atmosphere. Clearly this means he needs to be bothered.
Rating: PG-13 only because Animorphs is a depressing canon and things come up.
Log:
Really, Tobias should have stayed in the area, but training took priority over interest. Regal and Volts needed stronger enemies to fight, and the wild Pokemon around here just weren't cutting it. It had taken a while to get through the forest again, but he didn't mind. His Pokemon didn't seem to mind either, and so when they packed up the camp site they headed in to town.
They mostly spent their days wandering around, Regal perched on Tobias' shoulder and Rachel toddling along next to them. Sunday afternoon and Monday mid-day found them sitting and watching the aerial shows. It made him smile, but he couldn't help but miss the feeling of flying himself. During the most of the rest of Sunday and Monday, the group was around Sprout Tower, both lending a hand and exploring the tower itself.
Of course, Tuesday found the group with a small flock of pink and white birds. Tobias tried to entertain them, but apparently they decided that perching on him was more entertaining. He might need some help.

monday!
all three have facepaint on, so it isn't hard to notice a group of clowns— he speaks as he walks: ]
Man— Makes you wanna get your flap on up there too, yeah? Looks kinda like one of those— Motherfuckin' tilt-a-whirls, 'cept you be doin' your own thing, right?
[ the mime jr gives a nod and a mime! in return. he didn't even have to, gamzee would just either chat it up more or space out, but— he's a nice little pokemon and knows deep down that attention is good for gamzee. he's been inside that baked head of his.
on the other hand, his scraggy, pb, is the first to notice the other three sitting and enjoying the show— the painted lizard doesn't pay much attention to the show in the first place, keeping more of a look out around them— he spots something that's always a good sign, a challenger! he's too bold for his own good, and wastes no time in hurrying up, pulling up his loose skin to get a better sprint start towards them. "hey!" the scraggy is pretty assertive in voice, both if understood or not, puffing out his chest and trying to look extra tough!
it's a good thing that miracle is there to keep an eye on them, so when he sees that happening, he steers gamzee in the same direction. go to that little hoodlum child before he hurts himself ]

It's okay, Rachel.
[Don't start fights here, come on. He gestures towards the Scraggy as Gamzee approaches.]
One of yours?
no subject
which is exactly what's almost going to happen— pb is a reckless little thing— he's underleveled compared to tobias' pokemon, but he's . . . still at it. it takes the mime jr, who's hopping down from his ride to aid, pulling on the scraggy's little tail as he fumes and tries to go forward.
"let me at 'am, plush is askin' for it!!"
miracle does the apologizing, as the little clown holds and says sorry to everyone— gamzee makes it in due time to them, and just laughs a bit as he looks down at his bros. ]
Yeah, haha— This lil' motherfucker's always goin' for a tussle with the next dude!
[ but he's friendly and ain't even bothered— he hasn't seen tobias on video, has he? only on text, which mean— ]
What's good, bro? Name's Gamzee.
[ ain't aware 2 hi 2 care ]
no subject
It's fine. - oh! It's Tobias. I've talked to you before.
[Rachel looks up at him. You know this guy? Tell him to keep his team under control! Sadly, Tobias can't understand her words, but that glare tells him everything he needs to know.]
no subject
A'ight— c'mon, lil' man.
[ he keeps squirming, though, gesturing, trying to verbally provoke the teddiursa with insults and words such a young thing shouldn't say to a lady— despite not understanding, gamzee's got this, rummaging through his back pocket and pulling out an extra poptart packet, half open, and handing it to the scraggy.
who immediately stops, stares . . . and starts nibbling. his weakness . . . ]
—Tobias? [ wait for it— ]
. . . Yoooo, what the hell is up, motherfucker!! We typed at each other once, yeah?
[ honk honk!!!! just look at all this clowny mirth— gamzee extends his hand to give it a bro shake— will you take the bro shake bro
will you ]
no subject
Yeah, we did.
no subject
Nice— So what's your bad self doin' around here, man? You chill?
no subject
I was watching the air shows. I'm thinking of taking on Falkner soon, but I think we still need some more training.
no subject
[ he looks up, and sighs contently. ]
Motherfuckin' beautiful.
[ the scraggy rolls his eyes— flying types, peh— he's munching on the poptart a bit harder, somewhat bitter about flying types for a reason that has more or less traumatized him, but when tobias mentions falkner, he seems to be listening.
trying to hide it, but he is. challenges are to his interest! ]
Mimi's goin' for that shit too, yeah— Think I should give it a try.
[ a short pause. ]
Y'all can train with my pokebros if you wanna? Meems does it all the time.
[ and then the scraggy just— almost beams for a moment
training
"-!!!!" ]
no subject
[Rachel eyes the Scraggy. You are not going to be a challenge for her.]
I would but... Rachel and Volts are probably going to be my main attackers for that fight, and both of them are pretty tough. I wouldn't want to hurt your Pokemon... neither of them are good at taking it easy.
no subject
. . . We can fly if we take 'em?
[ gamzee looks down to miracle, and the two exchange looks and mental words for a moment— the little mime enjoyed battling as much as a kid in a sweets shop! or a teenage girl in dance class— mimicking gamzee, he starts synching with his trainer's movements as he speaks. ]
Nah— most my pokebros dig the battling do'. Ain't it all fun for 'em?
[ as a matter of fact— ]
Harshwhimsy's kinda like that, too.
no subject
[He shakes his head. Regal puffs up a little bit.]
Regal doesn't like fighting so much. And Tiny, one of those little cats that fell from the sky? He doesn't like fighting so much either. And Sunshine, one of those goat things - she doesn't like battling at all. She just likes running around in the sun.
( 1 / 2 )
I always up and wondered what it's like, man . . .
[ when you wish upon a star . . . ]

Tuesday
Um, excuse me, mister? Do you need some help? [ And that blond hair looks so familiar... ] Have we met before, maybe?
no subject
Mimi? It's Tobias.
no subject
So you didn't have any trouble finding your way around after all! It looks like you're having a little bit of trouble with these birds, though! [ Her own birds chirp in interest. ]
no subject
[They're kind of smelly. And curious.]
I guess it's not so bad. At least they're birds.
no subject
"At least"? Do you like birds, Tobias-san?
[ VAST UNDERSTATEMENT..... ]
no subject
[He has memories of those places. They're not good ones.]
And... yeah. I get along with birds pretty well. Riku gave me a pretty aggressive... one of those masked birds. I've been able to calm him down a little. My friend lived on a farm with a lot of land behind it, so I got used to watching the birds there.
no subject
Oh! I saw people with those maskbirds on the network, but I didn't get one! They seemed so aggressive! [ Mimi frowns slightly. ] But you could calm yours down? That's amazing, Tobias-san! Oh, and living on a farm sounds wonderful! It must be like having your very own petting zoo! [ Mimi's eyes go wide as she imagines it: all those animals ready for the petting! ]

[He nods to Rachel, who dives into his bag and pulls out some Pokeballs. Carefully he kneels down and opens them, so the birds go back in. With his regained mobility, he puts those balls back in and fishes around for a moment, before pulling out one he's marked with a triangle. He opens it up, revealing the masked bird, who attempts to lunge but is stopped by a hand on the back of his neck. Tobias lets out a high-pitched screech, and the bird looks up and relaxes.]
no subject
[ Mimi abruptly cuts herself off, fascinated by the way Tobias handles his Hawlucha. Making bird noises: weird, but apparently effective! ]
Wow! Does that mean something in maskbird?
no subject
Sort... of? It's more like a declaration of territory. It's... it doesn't sound quite right but human vocal cords aren't really made for that. But it's basically 'this is my territory and you're not getting it, back off'. I've listened to hawk sounds for hours and it's almost like learning another language. It's not exactly... you don't get the words, but you get the tone.

[Rachel reaches her paws up to Tobias. She wants a ride. He rolls his eyes a little with a smile and picks her up.]
I think at home Rachel could pick me up.
[The little bear just looks confused, so he shakes his head.]
Never mind.
