Why Don't You Go Where Fashion Sits?
Who: Participants of the Kalosmas New Year's Event!
Where: The Hotel Richissime, in scenic Lumiose City, Kalos!
When: Wednesday, December 31 - Thursday, January 1!
Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!
Rating: PG in general; please mark threads that go higher accordingly!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:
• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.
• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.
• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!
• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.
• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.
A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:
Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:
On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

MAIN EVENT INFOPOST | QUESTIONS FOR MODS

[Well, that sure is a long flight in a really weird mass transit... thing. Jet, right? A girl from the year 850, who's only been as far as Cherrygrove by now, is honestly really confused/surprised by this. Waking up super early and leaving at 3AM? Sure, whatever, she's exactly not from a world or lifestyle, where you get a lot of sleep anyway. ...Nor is she a very good sleeper because of her canon point either, so she might take a nap or two on the way, but mostly she's awake there.
She'll be walking everywhere around the hotel, curious as ever to see everything and everyone there is while she's really amazed by the place and its rooms. On some things she'll just stop by the door (what the hell even is an arcade? Some place with too many flashing lights and noise, that's for sure.) She's wearing the furisode girl outfit
with a longer skirtwithout the flower in her hair, though her red flower Flabébé is trying to act as a hair accessory or something by sitting on her head. The flower's probably just seen her Swablu do the same too many times. But Petra will actually get some real hair accessories from the gift shop, it just might take a while to decide what to take. Her main interest is the pastry haven, where she's really confused again because wow, everything looks amazing and how did they even make all these? Well, time to ask questions from them and maybe take at least a few samples, yes. She really should get better at baking and cooking now when she's in a different world. Not like she really had to worry about that back home, or that she's really bad at either, but the thought crosses her mind while she's there.]B | BALLROOM
[Arriving with Levi and dancing at least a few dances with him, because she can. In furisode girl outfit and not wearing (high) heels -- it's not like she couldn't walk with those, but then she'd be taller than Levi and apparently that's a good reason to stay away from any shoes with big heels.
But since she's a very social and approachable young woman... It's a party, she's supposed to be a social butterfly here! So sure, even if Petra might spend most of her time in the company of someone, who some people back home see as Humanity's Rudest and Most Unapproacble Soldier, she's kind of looking around to find people to dance with. Maybe you're supposed to dance with her if your eyes meet, or if she grins at you? She won't bite or punch anyone for approaching her for a chat or for asking her to dance. Also, she's actually a good dancer and she'll gladly have a dance with literally anyone.]
C | Wildcard
[Feel free to create anything yourself! More mingling after fireworks or any other time, meeting at dinner or breakfast, or whatever else!]
LOCKED TO LEVI | FIREWORKS / GARDEN OBSERVATORY
[Petra is like an excited little kid even before midnight, because fireworks in a party like this are surely going to look amazing, right? Sometimes it's good to be a tiny girl in the company of a
tinyshort man; makes it a lot more easier to go through the crowd and straight to the big plate windows to get the best view of the show with him. There's still sometime until midnight, but she's mostly staring out of the windows and waiting for them to begin. Is this like a kid in a candy shop? Maybe. Or more like a child in some world where Christmas is a thing! Anyway, she really can't wait to see these for some reason. Good kind of fireworks and not something to get people killed? Always a good thing, but it's not like this kind of fireworks happen back home even if they might know what they are.]
2015, huh? ...That's... a .... huge jump. [Levi, is she talking to you or just accidentally mumbling to herself? Who knows!]
[She really hasn't thought about the year here too much. Like her time here can basically be summed up as EVERYTHING IS WEIRD, EXCEPT RELATIONSHIPS ARE AMAZING, AND WHAT IS A ____ EVEN? But since this is New Year's party, it's kind of hard to not to think about the year too. ]
no subject
Soon enough, Levi's turning his attention to the fireworks again. They're definitely a spectacle above and beyond any of the fireworks he'd seen at home; how many he'd seen being rather minimal, but absolutely nothing like this, and not with such a wide variation in color. It was remarkable, to be sure. ]
That's a bit of an understatement. It's been—too many fucking years to even try to understand what we've missed, I'm sure.
no subject
Petra is really fascinated by the fireworks
hi icon, mostly staring at them as soon as they begin with an amazed look on her face. So many colors, so many big explosions that are not meant to hurt anyone and everything looks so pretty.]I think it was a huge understatement, corporal, but even trying to understand some of that is all the more reason to get to know people here. [SOCIAL BUTTERFLY!] Well, admittedly even I'm not going to ask them about everything, that would get crazy too fast.
no subject
It seems like the rest of the people here are coming from—different places or whatever—just like we are. Do you think they know anything?
( While it sounds like it could be sarcastic, it's definitely a legitimate question—he's curious about it; about whether or not Petra's met someone who must have a much better grasp on all this shit than himself. )
no subject
[The firework show seems to be ending, so her full attention goes back to Levi, while she's trying to avoid seeing other people's ways of wishing each other a Happy New Year. Really, standing on the window and seeing two npcs wishing it to each other with kisses is weird enough, she's really trying to not look around to see if that's a very common thing here.
ummm, but she should... wish him a Happy New Year somehow, especially because here it can actually be a happy new year even for people from places like them. So she grins cheerfully at the man.]
But I'll just keep working on finding that out, okay? Happy New Year, corporal Levi!
[If you are not expecting a hug to come with that... well, then you're wrong. Sorry, she really loves hugging you because here she can and well, maybe she wants a good distraction from what's going on around.]

Because your roommate has claimed the further in of the two beds and appears to be fast asleep despite how brightly the sun is lighting the room this time of day. Looks like someone didn't take too well to the 3 AM plane ride...]
no subject
Opening the door is a little struggle - why can't they have normal keys -- and once she gets to the room, she kind of half-slams the door before she notices, that she's not alone. Oops. Petra winces. Are they sleeping?
Well, at least she's more careful now and sneaks to the so called her side of the room. Maybe she should try taking another nap too, she wonders while she sits on the other bed and goes through her bag.]
no subject
The Absol who's lying at the foot of the bed, however, looks up when he notices your presence. As well, the Clefairy who's on the table doing some doodling waves with a cheerful "Fairy!".
So, you know, at least his 'mons are somewhat sociable. Even if your roommate is a useless layabout who's going to sleep through everything if he's not careful.]
no subject
Now she's looking curiously at his Pokemon though. She's never seen either one before, having arrived here on the 8th of December so she's kind of brand new here and so many pokemon yet to see! Is that a dog -- or a canine at least with a ... scytche on his head? Petra looks very confused and surprised here, though she is pretty much used to not asking too many questions about logic of some things. There are so many unanswered question back where she's from that it makes all this randomness here easier to handle too.
Anyway, staring at others is really impolite but wow these pokemon are cute! Still weird with that scythe thing, but hey, that's not really a problem. ...Petra actually waves back to the Clefairy before she approaches the table to see what she's doing. Is this pokemon seriously doodling something here? She's more and more surprised and confused, but also really amazed by it.]
Where did you learn that?
[HOW? Animals don't doodle. These creatures are too intelligent! It's a whisper, she doesn't want to wake up the roommate. Let him sleep all he wants if he needs the rest - quite many probably do after that flight unless they slept there or are going to go without much sleep.]
no subject
Rose, meanwhile, tilts her head with a "Clef?", and then smiles a little and points at the sleeping man. Is it that surprising, really, she thinks? She taught herself by watching her dear partner, of course.
...Well, it was probably more than just watching him, honestly, because her doodles, if you look, are actually pretty decent pictures, around the level of what a first grade human would draw. Something of a forest scene - the trees are kind of stick-ish, but they're definitely trees, and there's a tent in the middle of them too.
(Meanwhile, Jehra blinks slowly and then settles his head back down on his front paws. You are not a threat to his papa, and therefore he can go back to resting his eyes.)]
no subject
Oh, of course! Petra's amber eyes widen a bit and she nods at the pink Pokemon while she looks at the direction she's pointing at. Where else could she have learned even? Still, that's so much more intelligent than the normal animals back home and she's still got so much to learn about Pokemon.
But then she's back to looking at those doodles and even taking a closer look since this cute pokemon doesn't seem to mind? ... Aha...ha..haaaaaaa, forests. Is that a sad smile on her face for a bit? Might be because canon point has a lot to do with tragedies in a forest. And it's not even possible to put up a tent in a forest where she comes from, thanks to giant monsters, who live anywhere outside city walls. But that really is very pretty.]
That's really amazing, you know, and also very pretty. Is it a memory or something you'd like to do in summer? Maybe a good memory, that you'd like to do again. That's always an option too.
[Yeah, she's not dangerous unless someone does something stupid first. No worries about her.]
no subject
So she grabs one of the pieces of scrap paper on the side and turns it over to the side she didn't already use and decide to start over, and she begins to write. ...Because yes, she taught herself to write, too.]
When it's done it'll be of when we met Raikou!
no subject
. . .
That pokemon is... writing. Doodling's a little weird, but definitely very adorable but actually being able to write a real message? No one warned her about this!!
Petra looks surprised, shocked even perhaps. That's just -- way too intelligent for a creature, and honestly, she's not so good at dealing with highly intelligent types of anything thanks to attacks by too intelligent giant monster back home. This one isn't even a giant, but this sure is the most surprising thing she's learned about Pokemon here.
Sorry, pink adorable fluffball, were you trying to make this less one-sided? She might need a moment right now because what is this?! Animals shouldn't be able to write, or even doodle, or read minds either like Levi's psychic cat could do.]
no subject
"Clef?" But she tilts her head at that bluescreening, because is it really that shocking? Maybe it's just because she's so used to being able to write that she doesn't think it's surprising.
The conversation, as it is, is interrupted at this point, though, by some stirring over in the bed. Looks like your roommate is waking up.]
no subject
Petra looks at the bed as soon as she hears the sound from there.]
... You taught your Pokemon to write? Real, long sentences? [GOOD MORNING! She's still confused and sure sounds like that too.]

Pastry heaven!
And Veronica had possessed a big love for French food when she was there. So she's totally there, mowing down some tasty looking rolls. Wow this was delicious.
She notices Petra, but doesn't recognize her at first. It's only a few seconds later that it hits.]
O-oh! Hey! You're... Petra!
\o/
She's surprised to hear someone calling her name, but well, considering how she's only met two girls by now... It's easy to recognize the voice before she even turns to look at her to be sure. Yesss!]
Yes, hello! It's really great to meet you in person, Veronica.
[Cheered up? Yeah, even though somewhere behind that smile there's still a ton of things to go through but hey, that's not a thing to think about while she's here.]
no subject
But, Petra knew here. And, seeing her smile brought a half smile to the bodyguard.]
Eheh. It's nice to meet you too! Do you like everything here so far?
no subject
...That's a complicated question.]
Sort of? It's mostly been really great, but all this technology is entirely new to me. But it's just something to get used to.
[What the hell happened to normal keys and locks and why do people beat some noisy stuff in that one room and -- lots of other confusing things.]
no subject
I suppose so. It took me a while to understand the technology here too. It's close to what's back home, for the most part, but there's some differences.
[At least there were planes. that was a good thing.]
I think you'll get used to it quickly though!
no subject
[aka they have no planes, or most other big mass transits, and you write with a pen to a paper and so on.]
Heh, I think I'll adapt soon enough, yeah. It's not like they're new things in a bad way. And everything here [she looks around in the room] looks great, maybe I'll try a few new things when we go back.
no subject
[Ahem...] Uh, yeah, things would be really different for you then. It's great seeing you adapting well, though. Do you want to get something? We can buy things with those cards we got.
no subject
Feels like I learn something new almost everyday, it's quite fun actually. ...and well, it's not like there's anything else I can do, right? [That smile and some light from her eyes might fade away a little for while. Ohh, but she promised to him and also to herself that this isn't going to be a sad party!
So after a tiny moment Petra claps her hand in excitement, mostly back to not serious and more cheerful girl again.]
Yes, I'd love that actually! It's just really difficult to choose... Wait, the card works here too? Weird that someone would give us these cards just like that without expecting us to pay it all back, but -- well, someone did, so I guess it's better not to think about it too much. [#relationship with money.]
no subject
[Some for ulterior motives, and most for the benefit of themselves. Veronica was looking for a way home, like many others, though that particular path of learning seemed to lead straight into a brick wall.
...She just realized that she was lost in her thoughts. Thankfully, Petra's clap knocked her back into reality.]
...Uh, yeah. It is a little weird. I guess whoever is running this party has money to burn. [Must involve a certain man and his extremely high membership fee.]
no subject
[Petra shrugs.] Yeah, clearly. Better not let them be disappointed by not doing anything with the cards then. [So looking at everything there is again. This... might take a while.]
