Where: Route 29
When: Evening of April 13th
Summary: Miyako and Takeru meet an escort.
Rating: G
Log:
Mamoru had to wonder, if only privately, what his grandfather would think of this special trip to escort a sixth grader the second half of the way to Cherrygrove City. An inefficient use of time and energy, most likely. Maybe he was right. But how could it be in any way conscionable to turn one's back on a crying girl who had no idea how to take care of herself? Was a few days of inefficiency such a terrible price? Mamoru couldn't believe that it was. Not when his biggest responsibility here was leveling up Pokémon in the hopes it would enable him to return home.
It was more than that, of course. The food he'd bought for her cost money. The time he was on the road meant time he couldn't be working for more money. He didn't expect the money to ever be repaid. The care of this young girl might well prove a mentally taxing endeavor. Still, he simply couldn't fathom the willful abandonment of a child.
He simply couldn't.
This latter half of the trail to Cherrygrove was highly familiar by now: his sixth time walking it. As per usual, his Togepi rode in his arms. Mamoru had given up on ever coaxing it into a Pokéball, and it still enjoyed exploring a little too much to be allowed to walk freely. The sun was nearly set, and so far no sign of Miyako. Hopefully, he would find her soon. There were any number of reasons to fail to meet at roughly the halfway mark, but when it was a young girl with little to nothing in the way of survival skills, the reasons to fail that were also cause to worry were too many for his comfort.
The Togepi had a rather more cheerful outlook on their journey, and chose that moment to express its typical cheer with a gleeful trill that carried down the path.
"Prrrriiiiiiiiii!"

Unfortunately, the next day didn't seem to do as well. She was already tired and missing her parents and her siblings, Hawkmon, and even school, and she really just wanted to turn around and go home. The entire idea of being outside for long periods of time was alright in the digital world, because she could always go home at the end of the day. But here? No home, no cooked dinner at nights, no comfortable bed. Needless to say, she was not used to this in the least.
So when she began to cry again about how she couldn't do this anymore, it was no surprise.
"T-Takeru-kunnn... I can't go anymore!" she squeaked out, sinking to her knees. It felt like half of her time here was spent crying. How depressing.

Takeru, being the owner of the trait of hope, would never let any disgraceful despair comes. Not to him, not to his friends, not to anyone. Either a coincidence or destiny, his new partner, the loyal Nidoran, carried the trait. He never slowed down with that littlest body of him. Hey, that means Takeru couldn't as well, right?
All that applies to him, though. His traveling human partner, apparently, have some other thing in mind.
"Come on, Miyako-san." Takeru crouched down, trying to reassure her. "We're not that far from our destination." Or so he guess, since he didn't know where the way out of this area as well... But no use crying and such, right?

One voice was most certainly Miyako. He could still remember the sound of crying from the call. The other voice he didn't recognize. While it was a bit startling-- and meant he'd miscalculated on how much food to bring-- it was probably for the best that she'd had some company for the first part of the walk as well.
Togepi became excited as the pair of kids entered their field of vision. Mamoru set him down and allowed him to run ahead towards them.
"Toge-toge."

"We've been walking all day and we're still just seeing treeeees!" she whined. "We're not going to get anywhere!"
But she did try to wipe her eyes on her sleeves, at least to make a bit of an effort. It wasn't working too well... until the little squeaking, walking egg approached. If anything, Miyako's tears froze as she stared at the thing in surprise. "W-what...?"

"We're going farther, Miyako-san. It's just that... the scenery are all trees." He said with a tone that is a-matter-of-fact.
When his long haired friend turned her head in a surprised motion, Takeru followed her gaze only to see the same thing that Miyako's staring. An egg, a walking egg.
"Whoa-? Is this a Pokemon as well?" Takeru's stare turned from the surprised one into an amused one. Pokemon sure resembles Digimon when it comes to the weirdness they're featuring.

Mamoru saw that Miyako had sunk to the ground but maintained his calm pace. A few moments later, he'd met them on the path. He slid his backpack off and knelt down by Togepi.
"As your companion said, you've definitely gotten somewhere. We wouldn't already be meeting if you hadn't."
He then looked to Takeru with a nod and easy smile. "My name is Takatori Mamoru. I spoke with Miyako-san over the Pokégear; we agreed to meet halfway between the towns. This is my Togepi. I'm sorry if he surprised you."

She almost could have argued him down, but the egg had already gotten her full attention. It was pretty... odd. But also kind of neat, since she hadn't seen something like this yet. However, just staring at it wouldn't explain much of anything, so she looked up to see if she could spot where the little thing came from.
And she gasped. She had forgotten they were going to meet! "Takatori-san!" Wiping her eyes quickly, she cleared her vision enough to get a better look. "You really did come... Thank you. I found another friend of mine in New Bark Town, so we came together!" Her mood was brightening already.

As the older boy nodded, Takeru counter with another nod himself. "Takeru Takaishi, nice to meet you, Takatori-san." His lips then formed a smile and he crouched down to get a closer look at Takatori's Togepi. "Nice to meet you too." He doesn't even know its' name, but the friendly aura around it is more that enough.

"It's nice to meet you, too," he said to Takeru, turning then to slip off his bag and set it on the ground in front of him. He unzipped the main pouch and pulled out a large can of stewed beef and a lidded saucepan with bag of rice inside it. "Is this all right for dinner? I have two bean-filled buns if you don't eat meat."
Togepi was just elated to be getting attention. He waved his arms and began to chitter at Takeru.
;A; Sorry I took forever, guys.
However, the food was definitely distracting her. Moving a little closer, she peered over at the pouch. "Oh wow... That looks really good!"
It's ok, I'm getting into a slowatus myself
The golden haired boy was never that big of a glutton, but he definitely couldn't resist this one. You know how nice it is to see a piece of meat after seeing the gigantic mess of trees. Takeru let go of the Togepi and approached the bag that is full of salvation and gives a 'Wow'. "This is far more than enough, Takatori-san."
Yeah, no worries o/
"It should be ready in twenty minutes. I have a tent that I can set up in the meantime. Miyako-san is welcome to it for the night; I won't need it. Takeru-kun, could you watch the fire while I do that?"
\o/ you guys are great, seriously
Once he mentioned the tent, she looked up curiously. "They have tents here?" she asked. Well, it would have made sense; after all, they had a lot of campers. But to think that they were so easily accessible, and that she'd... be able to sleep in one?! Her eyes were practically sparkling. "Are you sure? I--I could help you pitch it! I've only pitched a tent once but my eldest sister said I wasn't that bad at it. A-and I could share it, I don't need it all to myself."
Not that great without you, actually
"Roger that, sir." He replied in a joking tone. He want to help him set the tent, but again, everyone have their own job to do. Takeru take a can of beef with him before heading to crouch somewhere near the fire, watching, and probably tossing more equipment to the fire when it's needed.

Since she seemed eager to help, Mamoru let Miyako help with setting up the tent, keeping an eye on her progress and directing as needed.
Togepi was getting hungry, and that food smelled good. Takeru had been nice to him, and he was the one watching the food, so he walked over to him and chirped while pointing at the can of beef.

Tent done... but what about the food? She made her way over to Takeru's side and knelt down next to him, though her eyes landed on the little Togepi again. "Still chirping... I think he's hungry too. Can Pokémon eat meat?"
