20st: Afternoon: Departure!

The nameless Vulpix was the first to appear as it bounded over the small hill, paused at the top, and looked back to make sure it’s master was coming. She was impatient to be off and not above yelping to try and hurry Eagle along. He however seemed to be interested in everything they passed along the way… everything was so strange, how he would give anything for a good data scanner right now! Of course when Bakura and his Pokémon were sighted Eagle smiled and walked over to join them.

“There wasn’t really much to get ready.” The bag had already been packed by that delusional lady who thought she was his mother… “Besides, there doesn’t seem to be any place here to gather supplies of any kind.”

He smiled. "Sooner is better anyway."

Thinking but not saying... because I need to get back and find out what happened during that battle.

[identity profile] unyieldingwill.livejournal.com 2011-04-24 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
“That would have been nice. But, ‘Mother’ didn’t seem to know what I was talking about when I mentioned supplies. She just kept mentioning this bag.” The bag Eagle now slings to the ground so he won’t have to carry it for a while. “And she has apparently never been to Autozam, so why she believes she is related to me… ”

He doesn’t get it.

Eagle’s expression mirrored Bakura’s for a moment as he looked down at the dusty road pondering what had just been said. For Bakura finding himself in a game wasn’t unusual at all, but for Eagle it was a VERY peculiar thought. Could all of the people just be mindless programs of some kind of game? Then how did they get here? The Pokémon didn’t seem mindless like all of the people did, why was that?

Storm takes that moment to appear, cresting over the same hill that Eagle had come from. She strides into view, and with her height, spots the two younger members of the party with relative ease. Her Dratini slithers on alongside her, somehow keeping up with her long and even steps.

She smiles as she walks up to them.

"Shall we be off?"

[identity profile] rejoicings.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
And speak of the devil-- She comes bouncing along the pathway, oddish bobbing pleasantly on her head. A wave in the distance-

"Hey there! Didn't keep y'all waiting for too long, I hope."

[identity profile] unyieldingwill.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that the other members of the impromptu party had arrived it only seemed appropriate to introduce himself and ask them to do the same. If they were going to be traveling together they should at least know each other’s names.

“I am Commander Eagle Vision from Autozam,” A nod at the little Vulpix at his feet, “She doesn’t have a name just yet. I’m still working on coming up with one.”

The Vulpix doesn’t seem to mind being introduced as nameless as she takes this moment to scratch her ear with a back foot. As long as the name she does eventually get is a good one!

"Ororo Munroe, from Bayville, New York." She turns her head slightly to smile at the Dratini hiding behind her legs. "And this is little Raindrop. Forgive her, she doesn't do particularly well with strangers."

True to form, she's keeping herself hidden, even as she's peeking curiously up at everyone.

"It's nice to meet you all."

21st: Suddenly, snow!

[identity profile] unyieldingwill.livejournal.com 2011-04-24 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No one thought to check the weather report before leaving…? Come to think of it did this place even give weather reports?
The radio on the PokéGear was quick warn: “…And today’s freak snowstorm was entirely unexpected! To any one trying to travel today, seeking shelter in one of the towns might be your best option.”

Great advice, unfortunately… it was a little too late for that. The town they had just left was fairly far behind them now.

Normally, Ororo would have no trouble keeping up with such drastic changes in the climate. But in a world without her mutant powers, she's suddenly bereft of her default immunity to extreme temperatures.

This "feeling cold" business is something she's needing to relearn. She shivers slightly (another altogether new experience; she's never shivered from the cold, before!).

"I suppose we should have expected that not even the weather would escape this world's... eccentricities."

[identity profile] ridingthewinds.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I do not think so; returning would not achieve very much." Storm digs around her own bag for one of the shirts provided, handing it over to the younger Bakura to use as another layer. It's thankfully not feminine-colored or anything, so hopefully he'd be able to use it. She smiles. "It would be a better use of our time and efforts if we continued onto the next city."

She looked up at the grey sky. "Though it might be in our best interests to stop and rest... It does not look like the snow will be letting up very soon."

"Not really, huh," Death pipes up from the side, pulling out her own supply of blankets. Giving the little party a look over, she shakes out the blankets and hands yet another one to Bakura. Priorities, of course, but it doesn't take long for her to fish out another one and drop it over Storm's head amiably.

"Hey, you're shiverin' too. Keeping the rest of us warm and dry is one thing, but it's another to take care of yourself."

[identity profile] unyieldingwill.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Eagle can’t help but smile as he wonders how Bakura is going to function now covered by all of the blankets and things the ladies had kindly offered the young boy. Could he even see to walk anymore?
For his part Eagle doesn’t seem t have noticed the cold, or rather he did… and was acting as if the snow wasn’t bothering him. They just didn’t have sudden cold snaps like this in the climate controlled biodomes of Autozam.

“Stopping for a rest won’t do us any good with out a source of heat,” said while walking over to a nearby tree to see if any wood could be gathered from it.
What they needed was a fire, but getting firewood without an ax or knife of some kind wasn’t easy. He had to settle for whatever dry, dead branches he could find on the ground or muscle out of the trees.
Now… unaware of his Pokémon’s abilities, he just needed some way to start a fire. When he attempts the old rubbing two sticks together technique, that would be when his Vulpix takes pity on him and steps forward to take over the operation and start a nice fire for everyone.

Storm smiles, amused, at Dee. She murmurs an amiable, "Thank you, but the cold does not bother me very much. I only feel drastic changes in temperature, and even then only initially." Still, she'll accept the blanket; it wouldn't be polite to refuse it.

She glances, pleasantly surprised, at the sudden fire and the Vulpix. "That's certainly convenient. Thank you, little one."

Carrera yips and swishes her tail! Any praise is good praise.

“How surprising,” Eagle adds with a warm smile after the amazement has worn off a bit, “I didn’t know you could use fire magic.”

That is so very much like Hikaru! Maybe I should have named the creature after her?

But Eagle keeps that thought to himself as he adds a little more wood to the fire to ensure that it won’t be going out right away.

“As long as the snow doesn’t get any worse than this we should be fine here.”

It was only a light gentle snow after all and fortunately not a blizzard. They would have been in a lot more trouble if this were a more serious storm.

22nd: Sun is shinin' in the sky / There ain't a cloud in sight~

That had been a short snowstorm, gone as suddenly as it had arrived. Good thing really. He was no way prepared for anything longer than that.
But, it was strange. It had been several days of fairly difficult travel in this world and he hadn’t felt tired or coughed even once. Eagle knew that even with a will as strong as the one he had, he shouldn’t have been able to hold off the effects of that illness as long as this. Was there something about this world that was keeping the disease from progressing? It actually felt like he didn’t have the illness at all.
Could that be true?

Eagle sat near a tree, leaning back on it’s trunk for support, while deeply musing about his current condition. His characteristic smile was missing for a moment, he was too busy thinking about other things to maintain the façade.

[identity profile] unyieldingwill.livejournal.com 2011-04-24 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oblivious and likely to remain that way for some time. Eagle doesn’t let very many people know his darker thoughts. Even best friends are often left out. Bakura is no exception. He just get the practiced smile that indicates everything is fine.

“I always sleep well.” Added a minute later with a chuckle, “But, I will admit it was much nicer once the snow disappeared.”

[identity profile] unyieldingwill.livejournal.com 2011-04-24 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
“I’m sure Carrera,” For the little Vulpix would have been given a name by now, “is glad for the sun too. It must be nice not to have to use her fire magic for a while.”

She looks up from the ball she had curled herself into to tilt her head suspiciously at that. I don’t mind… Why would you think I did?”
But, since Eagle doesn’t understand Pokémon he misses her confusion.

[identity profile] unyieldingwill.livejournal.com 2011-04-24 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Carrera stretched her neck forward so the petting hit in just the right spot. It was nice to get some praise for a job well done. Not that Eagle hadn’t thanked her… but well… it seemed difficult for him to accept help from others. Which of course just meant he need help more!

She rolls over though… and wiggles. Maybe she could get Bakura to rub her tummy too?

[identity profile] rejoicings.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, she looks over, hands clasped behind her back. Ah- she's forgotten about this. The oddish pipes up, cheerful.

"Hey, you okay?" A little worried here. She thinks about this for a moment, eyes scanning the country side- then grins, turning to the rest of the group. "Guys, weather's great. Can't just be rushing headlong the entire way -- why don't we stop and take in the scenery a little. If you ask me, that stream over there looks like a place that's just begging for a good picnic."

[identity profile] unyieldingwill.livejournal.com 2011-04-27 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
“It couldn’t hurt to stop for a little while,” And nodding to a nearby tree, “Besides, that looks like a nice place to take a little nap.”

In fact though, Eagle didn’t look like he needed a rest at all. Maybe he too had noticed Bakura looking a little worn out? Whether or not he really needed to stop he did sit down under that tree, near the stream, and lean back against it’s trunk. Carrera also seemed satisfied with that idea and she ran over to flop down in the grass next to her master and lean against his leg… using it for a pillow much as he had treated the tree.
