A Lion vs Chocobo: There can be only one victor...?
Who:
solidbarrels &
notrlychaotic
Where: Near Dark Cave and later taking place in Dark Cave
When: Backdated to Wednesday night
Summary: Squall wants to know Cloud's true intentions. Especially now that the chocobo's more or less fully healed.
Rating: PG (could go higher due to possible violence)
He waited until most of them were asleep, or at least preoccupied with some thing or other. Not that Squall cared much about what they did. Too much, anyway. He couldn't stop himself from feeling a bit suspicious and paranoid about every single thing they did, no matter how innocent it was. How simple and straightforward it seemed.
Probably would be a long time before he even lost that edge to him, an edge that only grew sharper and harder since arriving in this world.
Squall scoffed, resisting the urge to run a hand through his hair. It had gone long enough and by Hyne, he refused to wait anymore. With Kain officially travelling with them, with Zidane being as friendly as ever, there were answers he needed to know and he'll get them. It was a matter of whether or not he'll get them the easy way or the hard way.
Right now, it was perfect. A small window of opportunity and he wasn't going to waste it. Who knew when the next one would come his way?
Closing the book he was more or less pretending to read, the brunet tucked the volume into his pack. He already read it once and he might need to pick up another once they reached their next destination but he something more important to do. Standing, Squall strolled over to where Cloud sat. He didn't bother to glare or jerk the blond off the ground. The less attention he drew to them, the better.
"Get up. There's something I want to ask."

"Get up. There's something I want to ask."

Now the guy wanted to talk to him? Really?
"And it isn't something you couldn't ask back in New Bark Town?" He muttered, chin in hand. But after a few moments, he sighed through his nose and stood up. He eased Stardust the Eevee off of his lap to curl up with his Vulpix, Meteorain. They snuggled together as Cloud looked to Squall. "Lead the way."

Squall bit back a sigh. There wasn't an excuse for the delay and he wasn't going to bother trying to explain himself. Not that he would, especially to a Warrior of Chaos--his enemy.
Or was he?
Nothing Squall saw indicated that Cloud was still trying to kill him or Zidane. The blond did absolutely nothing to imply he was still fighting for Chaos. Then again, he was injured since his arrival but now he was fully healed and nothing changed.
Squall scowled, turning his back toward Cloud. The cave entrance was nearby and probably would be the best place to get some privacy. It was enclosed and possibly a labyrinth. If anyone followed, they'll probably get lost. There was a chance that the both of them would get lost but it was a chance Squall was willing to take, for privacy.

Cloud sighed and followed Squall, raising his eyebrow as they approached the cave they were going to go through the next day. He almost stopped and turned back, he wasn't really sure of going into a cave with someone as paranoid as Squall. But given that he had his 'Gear on him and the others were close enough to the cave to hear something should Squall not take him too deep...
Sigh. Fine, he'll follow.

Leaning against a wall, the brunet crossed his arms and stared at the blond blankly. He didn't bother to waste time. "What's your plan once we reach Violet?" What's are you intending to do once we're there? Turn around and kill us in our sleep? Go off on your own?

His boots crunched in the soil as he walked a few paces. What was he going to do? Zack talked about starting some sort of delivery service, but other than that... he didn't know. He honestly didn't want to be hanging out this group for much longer, though.
"Split off from you guys, probably," He finally said. "Don't really have much of a reason to stay. You got Kain and Zidane and your other friends are probably looking forward to your arrival wherever they are. I'm not too interested in meeting them myself, so.
"Is that all?"

"As far as I'm concerned. Zidane is the only one that I would consider my friend," Squall shrugged, not bothering to glance over at the blond. What with what Kain did, still don't know if I could trust those other guys at all. Yet. Lightning maybe but... she's not anywhere near here. Last time I checked.
"Still," the brunet paused, "Is that all you plan to do? Follow that guy around?" If that was the case, then fine. That was that, it wasn't like Squall cared much if Zack's well-being. Zidane might but that wasn't the case for Squall. Hell, it probably would have been better if it was just him and Zidane (and Kain). Probably Ammy too if she decided to stick around with them or not.
"Not that I care." Much anyway. It would be two less mouths to feed and two less headaches to endure for Squall's case. Logically, he should just let them go off and do what they wanted. Except there was a nagging feeling, an impulse urge to just keep the Warrior of Chaos close, to keep an eye on him. Always.

"Yes," He sighed, not really able to keep the slight exasperation out of his voice. "That's the only plan we have and the only plan we're are going to stick to. For a guy who doesn't care, you seem awfully interested in what I do or plan to do. Still think I'm going to try and murder you in your sleep?"
He scoffed and kicked at a small rock before turning on his heel and heading for the entrance. "Whatever, we're done. You have your information."
